Nope... we (most of us in our family) find that the RTR's rear seat pretty manageable and hence is way better than the R15's. We have both the bikes in our family.

About your LED, I am still thinking about it. Hopefully it comes out easily and undamaged!

What was the other post about? the chain de-greaser? before applying any kind of lube on a chain it should be clean!

I found the RTR's seat to be too short&narrow for pillion comfort. R15 is better that way IMO, but the footpegs are a tad too high for pillion comfort.

I am also hoping for the same! It bounced a lot this morning on my way to office!Lets see when we get to the SC this afternoon. I'll ask them about the engine vibes at around 6-7K RPM too.

Thats ok. I also felt the same, how can we apply a new lube without even cleaning off the old one+grease! So, I've decided to go in for Yamalube&make the SC guys clean&lube the chain. That way I won't have to buy the Motul cleaner too.

      • Couple of issues which I have noticed on my bike which is at 600 kms
        1. The humming from the visor has increased, tightening the bolts should do the trick
        2. The gears dont fall smoothly while shifting down. Sometimes they remain obstinate & I have to stamp the pedal with some effort to get it right.
        3. Slight decrease in the smoothness

Have a query on checking the mileage, instead of filling the tank completely & riding it for a bit & then filling it again to the brim (& calculating the mileage), can we check the mileage based on when the bike starts showing the fuel warning i.e. get the warning, fill say 100 bucks worth of petrol and ride it till it again shows the warning (distance covered divided by fuel filled to get the mileage)? Is the fuel warning accurate enough to do this sort of calculation ?

Run in faitfully followed, crossed 5000 RPM only twice and that too not beyond 6000.

I had been to Orion motors. Felt they did a decent job but they are very careless when it comes to keeping your bike with a scratch

I am too looking out for a better place where they can take care of the bike the way we do (which i know is not possible)

        Cheers

Stay in Koramangala so Orion is closest. Might go there for the first one if they let me see the servicing being done. Last week when I had gone there to show my bumped baby they were asking people to sit in that reception area while they serviced it. Or else its Pacer on Infantry Road for me (no idea where it is though)

The visor thing will increase dont worry Smoothness (even of the gears) will be screwed as the engine oil is will not sustain for a long period of time.

No, the fuel indicator is not that accurate to calculate the mileage.

          • Back from Pearl Yamaha-the light is fixed. Luckily it didn't crack!
&the vibes are not from engine-the fairing was loose-so got it tightened.
@DigiSlayer&Vibhanshu: HydBiker&I were discussing just now-there are so many nuts&bolts in the fairing that anything can tend to get loose&create vibrations!

You might have to add a double side sticker tape also just above the speedo stay.

The manual says engage clutch swiftly&release a bit slowly while changing gears. Your bike is too new to check gear oil, clutch plates etc.

            3. Slight decrease in the smoothness
R15s tend to get rougher as time passes. Engine&exhaust note will also take a major change at around 6K kms. But trust me, you'll love it!

The reserve trip meter is not accurate at all. If you shut it off&park it for sometime&start it again it will still show petrol at one or two bars. I use the 2nd trip meter-when the reserve meter starts in running, I reset it. Again, while filling petrol I fill&then check from reserve to reserve. There is a thread on how to calculate mileage too. I guess that will help you!

Thats good, did you get the oil filter changed? The manual actually recommends the oil filter&engine oil change at 500kms., but the SC guys ask us to come for the 1st service at 1000kms. Donno why!

I liked the RTR's brake&clutch levers. Was planning to get them fixed onto my Fiero F2, but then thought anyways the black paint on it is peeling off, so let me wait for some more time&it'll have the same effect!
Anyways, I'm going OT here, let me stop at this-this is the R15 thread.

                        • I thought the pilot lamp loose contact problem was fixed, but in the evening I found that the position light was again having a loose contact. A bit put off, I pulled out the RHS socket also to compare what the difference was. I found that the resistors (metal plates) have gone down below&only the rubber is up, hence there is no electrical contact. The stupid mech kept on saying everything is fine. I will go to the SC tomorrow&see if I can get the socket replaced.

The yamaha Fuel injection diagnostic tool is available with a friend and there is limited stock. With this tool you can change the Air fuel mixture and also check if all the sensors are working in the bike etc etc...

you can grab the Tool at 210$ excluding shipping from Malaysia.Shipping will cost some 20$ extra . If anyone is interested in buying it please PM me or mail me [email protected].

The FID comes with a Fz150i manual in which details are given how to use the tool with all the error codes. ( Its in English )

Some pics of the yamaha Fuel injection diagnostic tool. This FID is used for the FZ150i And Vixion and the same one is used for the R15 as per sources .

@ALL: Guys, why don't we hyderabadi xBHPians contribute a little each and get hold of one FID? Am serious here, we can do SOOO much with it! Saves us a lot of money everytime we need to re-calibrate too!

When the engine opens up the exhause note changes into a deeper one and the initial smothness fades out. Also, this doesn;t happen all of a sudden. It is a slow & gradual process and one might not notice the difference unless compared to another bike.

BTW, NGK works closely with Honda for its mainstream research. Denso is a Toyota group company. Heard in many european forums that so many people there prefer Denso over NGK. So, I guess, the Denso plugs as such are not bad but may be they didn't suit the R15 or a particular batch is bad. For those who don't know, DigiSlayer has experience with two Denso spark plugs in his R15!
He mentioned that it happened in a span of 1000kms, which isn't drastic at all!

And the Densos..I SO hate them! Maybe the model the manufacture for the 150cc engine of the R15 is not able to take it. Cos, R15's engine is not just any other 150cc, and has to deal with really high RPMs, at increased heat levels. Thus the failing of densos for this purpose. If you notice, all the cars(atleast most o' them) have a LOT lesser running RPM on an average when compared to bikes. So, Denso might be successful in that application, simple

                                Thanks again....

I will check the spark plug and have that changed to Denso. Are you using the same one....

Also, the gear shift isn't rough... so far i felt its smooth.... in that case oil change can still wait

I have a new problem now with the front disc.... when i hit the brakes i feel a scrapping noise... am new to disc brakes so not sure if its time to have the break pads checked... is there anyway we can check it to see if teh pads are worn out..
