@winzeee: 20K kms. is the expected life of a rear tyre. Front will be atleast double or even more depending on vehicle alignment&usage conditions.
I cannot comment on the life of the R15 tyre, since I have done only 6K kms on it. But for my earlier vehicles I got the rear tyre changed at 20K kms.&front was lasting well even after 40K kms.!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Touring shows on the fairing... minor sounds from fairing creep in at certain RPM's. I guess it is mostly the bubble screen - when I put my hand on it most of the noise subsides.
There is a clutch bell noise that has become common in some R15's... Again nothing that alerts you but you'd know that this noise exists.
Performance.... no difference. Just rocks.Originally posted by riazmomin View PostMine has done more than 11K kms...As KP said, there is slight change in exhaust note. Engine feels liek to roar all the times.
Performance wise, Nothing has changes so far. Engine has got bit more smoother than in initial run.
Tyres: There are lasting long than i expected. i though i may need to change them after 8000kms...
Brake Pads: They need a change now.Originally posted by yamaha_yzf_r15 View Posti did 15,000 kms ,,
bike performance dint change i am getting the same 45kmpl when driving at 3 or 4 rpm,,and its still reaching 130kmph speed with a pillion,, and the engine beacame bit rough in sound ,and the brake pads are gone (both front and back) some sound like garrrrrrrr is coming when i am applying them ,,,except for the brakes ,,the bike is doing well
Thanks for the inputs guys!Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@winzeee: 20K kms. is the expected life of a rear tyre. Front will be atleast double or even more depending on vehicle alignment&usage conditions.

Was basically keen on knowing if there has been any perceptible changes in performance past the 10K mark. Guess the higher precision engineering that has gone into this engine would mean that the engine characteristics will hardly change with age!
These tyres are supposed to be soft compound right? My Zapper Vyde is nearly finished after 9K kms of use!!!!_________________________

The whole kit at the rear is NISSIN - reservoir, calipers, pads (not sure of the disc itself).Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postis yamaha providin the R15 with the GOD 'NISSIN' calipers???????
However, the front set doesn't have any name written but I guess that is from Alco Brakes - same as the brake pad maker I have mentioned in post # 3319.
I have noticed a similar thing with Ravi Kiran's Zapper Vyde too. They are soft compound but dunno how they compare with the R15's soft compound tyres. But then, may be because you guys rip heavily on that torquey mill the tyre rolls extra bit and with a half worn tyre you guys won't get enough grip! Just my thoughts!!!Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostThanks for the inputs guys!

Sarvajit, there is a difference between other regular tyres and those on the R15... R15's tyres are soft compound and tend to wear out quicker but provide fantastic grip while they last.Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@winzeee: 20K kms. is the expected life of a rear tyre. I know that they are soft compound-thats why I said I cannot comment on the life of the tyres, since I have done only 6K kms on it. Also that MRF made 6 prototypes exclusively for R15, till the 7th one was finally accepted by Yamaha. I had raised a query earlier too, about the life of the tyre. It was a bit early then, since no one had crossed even the 10K mark. Now going by the replies, it seems that their life seems to be more than expected!Originally posted by HydBiker View PostSarvajit, there is a difference between other regular tyres and those on the R15... My bike's front brake pads are as good as new.Originally posted by darkknight View PostI completed 11k today.tyres still strong except for 1 puncture in rear tyre during the past 5 moths.

Back ones are worn out, but will last for another 2K kms. IMO. Reason being: I have got used to using the rear brake more, as my Fiero F2's front disc is scratched&the mech recommended me to use it as less as possible, since it is reaching disc plate replacement soon. So, the same riding style continued over to my R15 too. I hardly use the front brake&hence the uneven wear. But sadly, the rear disc pads cost twice as much as the front ones!

I am expecting R15 tires (rear) atleast for 15K kms, My bike has almost done 11500kms...and still rear tire is yet to touch the first wear out mark on the tire, where as front there is hardly any wear on it. it would easily last for more than 20K kms...
Coming to brake pads, I am pending with rear brake pad change, But cant find in stocks. So I am using only front brake as much as possible. I still need to chk the front brake wear out.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
