  • Sorry for OT but @Shrinath Rao, my Honda Civic came with NGK Iridium Plugs as stock (They come as stock on all Honda cars). Its replacement interval is every 1 lac km as mentioned in the manual. At 57k km on the odo, I am still running on factory spark plugs.

My Pulsar came with Champion plugs as stock (which cost Rs.90 apiece) and its change interval is 10k km as per manual.

So there is a slight difference (in the no. of zeros) in the change interval km if you use Iridium plugs. If the SVC is changing Iridium plugs every 10k km, I am afraid but you people are being ripped off by the SVCs.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

    • @jayhaywalker-man i just gave reference and answer for your query why are so offended? check for yourself means you can check it by opening it manually nothing else... many have cr8e and iridium costs for 550 here in pune.. and as mentioned by antz.bin they do not need replacement frequently.. the cr8e costs 90 inr..and even that goes well on 20,000kms as i have tried them myself..

      • Guys please do not confuse between NGK Conventional&Iridium plugs-conventional has model no. CR8E&Iridium has model no. CR8EIX.
R15&many other bikes come with NGK CR plugs factory fit.
Yes, Honda City comes with all Iridium plugs default.
Change intervals are much longer on cars compared to bikes, due to the low revving nature of the engine.
Ideal change interval would be 10K kms. for a conventional plug on a low capacity bike&around 30K kms. for an Iridium plug though people use it for longer.

In case any of you get them removed for disc plate replacement or anything else, be sure to fit them back as tightly as possible with the big size allen screw.

I am confused now, I was told that they are gas welded at the SVC, the SVC people didnt even try, they said "aise khulega hee nahi welder k pass le jao" (wont open up unless the welder heats it)infact i had tried to get it removed without heating, bent two allen keys, even the tyre shop guy couldnt open it, then i took it to welder who heated the screws till they were red hot and then removed it pretty easily.

Its not the question of stoner or something, if i got them as standard which i realised at 10000 kms, than thats the fact, now stop cribbing about it man.

Are man, i was billed the amount and at the same time i replaced my fork seals and all at YFS wakdewadi as i remember the spark plug was the costliest that time.

No confusion bro-they will not be welded permanent fixtures as its necessary to remove once in a while to replace the disc plate.
But, I remember even my expert mechanic struggled a lot to remove it whereas the wheel shop guy got them out in a jiffy.

Bro. I am having my experience with the YFS from last 1.5 years and i am happy with the way they have troubleshooted all of my issues, and are always there for help and i found the monarch has done a bad job for majority of my friends, in fact its surprising to see you and eshan saying good about monarch.

Keeping your word in mind i will surely give a try to monarch as i am facing a small issue since last 3 months.

You can give my reference at monarch to Ashish Moghe he is a very technically sound person.. he has always helped me in all situations.. in these years they have never disappointed me even once on any account.. the yfs owner doesnt have a good reputation and they charge many services that are actually inclusive of service..

And what issue are you exactly facing?

                          To Shrinath and Tejas,

I do not have any problem with YFS, the only thing gets me are the rates and taxes levied for no reason there. I have provided my bill in the V2 thread, if you compare it with YFS i would have shelled out Rs400-500 more that also for the same service, also the time taken would have been more, also i would be required to be present and point out everything to the SVC Engineer as last time he forgot coolant and they dint have chain spray.

Shrinath you should try here once, trust me the atmosphere here is good even on weekends, no queue at all plus you have Vishwas ka office bajumein, you can wait there till the SVC is done, also there are no taxes here for lubes, coolant and all and the rates are 1/3rd the cost of YFS.

All the 12 steps you mentioned, are normal with Yamaha factory shop service center in pune and its counted in normal service.

When was the last you refilled the coolant totally new? if its done within last 10k kms than i dont think its required now.
