  • I am happy to see my bike giving 41.15 kmpl at speed above 85kmph-105kmph. i surely gives once a burst of 105kmph while going and coming back from office. But it's just for 400-500m else it's always over 80kmph.

This speed is the range in which i ride daily from time to time.

284kms in 6.9L fuel which is 41.15kmpl. I want some above 50kmpl which i had got in my initial days, but can't hold or ride below 60kmph, it really hurts!!
I am HAPPY with this !! Yes Yamaha!!

    • I remember this was reported by several owners, The issue was:
I was riding at around 45kmph suddenly my bike tacho started to drop and it dropped to zero... and engine was switched off... (it was something like in one of those english movies where you lose power instantly). I came to a halt and tried self start switch, it wasn't working too. I turned off the engine kill switch and turn it on again then the bike started. Any issue of concern here???

P.S: I often face self start button giving no response at traffic light. I sometime have to turn it off and turn it again (engine kill switch) to get any power. Help...

        • I had the engine shutting off problem but that was bcoz the idling had dropped too low-after setting it to 1200 RPM its fine.
Btw, I'm also getting this engine kill switch problem last few days. I'm thinking it could be a loose connection-is it really related to the FI etc.?

          • idling screw

I'm having the same issue with mine, where is that screw and where can I download the service Manuel for this bike? I had it downloaded to my old phone and didn't transfer it to this one. Just to let everyone know,I replaced my rear tire with a Bridgetown 120/80-17. Rides beautifully. Also thanks to every ones help from this site. Since my last post I have changed the oil ,oil filter ,got a rear tire, topped off the coolant, and some how got it registered. I almost had to sell it to my local mechanic. He races 150cc class here in the states , the funny thing is most bikes here are not 150cc so he would dominate his class. Luckily I was able to get it registered though, that's another story in it self. Thanks again for all the useful info. Wish I could be of some kind of help from half way around the world.

                        Hi freakzil,

I suspect there is rust or some other crap at the contact points of your engine kill switch, causing some sort of shorting. I used to have similar situations during my days in mumbai monsoons. It can be sorted by spraying wd-40 or the assembly can be opened up and the contacts be mildly sanded. Caution* dont let the service fellows fool you into replacing the whole assembly as its not necessary, because its a serviceable unit.

I'd checked my tappets n engine mounting bolts in my last service at 35.5k km. Also as my bike was sounding a bit different the SC guys checked and discovered a few cracks on the rubber pipe (mentioned as "JOINT" in the bill and part no 20P.E4453.00) that feeds air from the air filter box. They guessed the vibrations might have been due to these cracks but as they didn't have it in stock then, I replaced it today. Even after replacing, the vibrations are still there. Lubed the chain at home today but still i can feel vibrations in the handlebars, foot pegs and tank. I'm still on the first set of chain-sprocket and clean/lube it religiously every 500km. Could it be due to worn out chain-sprocket?? The SC guys say its in good shape and can easily last another 5k km
                          Anyone?? any idea???

Pls be clear, are the vibes from the engine or fairing or any other part? Place the bike in neutral and twist the throttle upto 10K RPM and figure-out where exactly the vibes are present. If no vibes present at idling, the ride the bike in 1st gear at high rpm and try to find out.

Have you tightened the engine mounts, if not I think the link is present in the 1st page of this thread or R15v2 thread's 1st page

I've already mentioned it in my prev post. Its in the handlebar, foot-pegs and tank. Tried tightening the engine mounts 1k km earlier but to no avail.

Simple logic, the handlebar, foot-pegs and tank are the only areas which gets your contact, so you feel them there. How is the engine, is it revving freely?

If you say the engine very smooth then the only thing comes to my mind is the Engine stay bush
