You are right about that part-Yamaha felt that this kind of design was too radical for India, so they redesigned the rear to make it suit Indian conditions. Contrary to what others feel, V1's rear seat is almost as comfy as a ZMA, much more than RTR/FZ. All my pillions said the same.
A lot has happened in the last 3 years, we have got bikes like the Ninja 250, CBR off late, etc.
Most of the Indian made bikes also are coming with split seats like Stunner, new gen Pulsars, even CBZ-Xtreme so it just makes sense that a sportbike should be all out sports as far as looks as concerned. Tech. existed back then too-it was&is&will be ahead of others for time to come. That is good enough for the resale not to fall too much. I say it again-most of the 2nd hand market prospective buyers will still buy the old one thinking they can get after-market split seats&of course tyres are the 1st thing they will change! So not much difference there (good idea for those who are trying to sell their old ones!
)
Nothing wrong in what happened back then&now.
I don't agree with the price tag though I'm sure the aluminium swingarm costs most of the extra 7K!
Btw, I think this post makes more sense in the other thread though!

Apparently the sound when i rev above 6k rpm is from the tappets on my 2000kms R15 , the service center guy says to jus ride it as it is and get it tightened after 8k kms... is this normal ? or should i get it tightend ?
also with all the buzz surrounding the new r15 , is it worth exchanging this bike for a new one ? if so how much will this 1 and a half months baby go for ?

i did everything..they want to change the parts!! not the bike..It has got multiple problems..like engine heating-up in city, circuit prob, battery issues (Twice i Dhaka-started; self was not working), worst is mileage-15KMPL with YZF-R15. and rusting of all across! i am in hell really after buying R15 ( they are not admitting it's defective piece). guy who are in pune, has someone faced problems like me?Originally posted by Prakritij View Posttry mailing to the area manager with full details of the Bike's prob and the behavior of the dealer.

No one sells their bike within 2 months, hence we can't say what price you can expect. 80k is a minimum though.Originally posted by hellb0y View Posti want to buy this bike ! but i bought yamaha r15 2 months back! :'( now i want to sell it and buy v2 !
will i get good resale value for my 2 months old bike ! ?
somewhere round 80k?
If the tappets are loose, get them tightened ASAP. Waiting till 8k is a recipe for disaster.Originally posted by thangasaravana View PostApparently the sound when i rev above 6k rpm is from the tappets on my 2000kms R15 , the service center guy says to jus ride it as it is and get it tightened after 8k kms... is this normal ? or should i get it tightend ?

Some bikes do encounter loose tappets within 5k Kms. People who ride the bike frequently at high-revs face this problem more often than the others..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

chain lube help
Hi folks, This is the third time I am cleaning the bike chain myself.
First, I clean the chain thoroughly with kerosene. I am satisfied with that that my chain looks like brand new after cleaning!
After cleaning, I recently used Fresh Engine Mobile(4T Mineral Oil). Is that ok?Facebook Profile Link

no issues, the chain lube is built for a purpose though if you use mineral oil it will work + it's a cheap option also.(using mineral oil), but you will have to clean and lube it more often.Originally posted by wildest View PostHi folks, This is the third time I am cleaning the bike chain myself.

The resale value of each and every product decreases with the discontinuation of it/arrival of a newer and better* product. V1's resale will get burnt with the arrival of V2.
*for the college guy who just wants to have a cool bike to show off to chicks. For a rider who wants a good looking bike and doesn't wants to let go of performance, V1 will be better. I say this due to the extra weight and extra rubber on the new bike with NO performance enhancement from the original 17hp.

Strong words there!! Too early I would say. Wait for the test ride reports.Originally posted by Parth View Postdoesn't wants to let go of performance, V1 will be better. I say this due to the extra weight and extra rubber on the new bike with NO performance enhancement from the original 17hp.
The taste of the pudding is in the eating.
There are changes in the ECU & some changes in the internals (including sprockets).. How these multitude of changes affect the performance can only be ascertained by riding the bike.

Not advice-able, the daytona kit was built for V1, but if you are really craving for performance, contact Joel. He would turn V2 into one hack of a fast bike.Originally posted by sreejinair View PostHey guys can you tell me if I can fit the daytona kit in the R15 V2
