When is the best time to add stickers (be it tank protectors or other stickering). Can i put them to ma new bike or have to wait till i do teflon coating on my first service ?

Tank protector can be put anytime. Removing it will also not cause any marks. Better you put it immediately as after teflon it tends to make the surface slippery, and will not stick well.

Regarding other stickers, if you put vinyls&want them to be permanent then you need to get the bike clear coated wherever the stickers are, atleast on the painted parts. Plastic parts makes no difference.

I put some stickers on my bike recently&it has pulled out the clear coating in many places-it looks a bit weird with something transparent flaking off the bike. The stickers are not even vinyl, so I need to get most of the parts clear coated whether or not I plan to keep the stickers.

        Thanks for the info
Correct me if I am not wrong..

Step 1: Clear coat the desired to be sticker'ed area (basically clear coating the entire painted area helps tho it is not going to get stickers).

        Step 2: Apply the stickers.

        • Its been 2 months and 2,000 km's of R15 V1 riding.. (first service done)
I am loving each and every moment... (a solo lonavala also done :P)

The tyre pressure has to be kept at - 28 front and 33 rear, right?

Im getting a mileage of 35-37....

Same happened in my case. Change it asap. I have got a new set of tyres from outside for some 3400 bucks total after hard bargaining. SVC prices are higher supposedly. Need to get it fixed but I am planning to get the rims repainted so its getting delayed.
Chain kit I think is some 900 odd bucks, front disc pads Rs.490, rear Rs.690 IIRC. Others can help with exact pricing.
hey bro, thanx a lot for the reply... i'll be changing the entire chain set, rear tyre, and both brake pads.. i'm worried about the handling of the bike with new rear tyre and old front tyre( still can do 4 kays)... and also, the last time i changed both the disc pads, i did not get the original braking effect. when asked the svc guy about this, he told that its because the brake pads are new but the disc pads are old.. it needs some getting used to it... is it true..? also, in the next service, he did disc overhauling which did no good for braking.. how does it help?
            thanks in advance..

In fact, it is the opposite. First apply the stickers, then clear coat above it. Idea is to spray a bit around the edges of the sticker also so that they don't lift up.
I'm getting mine done this weekend. Will put up pics once the whole work is done-rims etc.&most of the body parts need to be dismantled&taken to the painter. Lot of work to be done for this cosmetic makeover!

I don't understand what he means by brake&disc pads-they are both the same.
If he is talking about the disc plate itself, then it lasts for 40-50K kms. before it becomes too thin.
Unless you have ridden too much with completely worn out disc pads&the metal has been contacting-you would have heard the metal rubbing sound very loud by now.
What did he do in overhauling? I don't find any difference between the old&new cheaper disc pads. I changed both together a few months back.

bro, frankly speaking, i do not know what they do in disc overhauling.. i thought you would know about it. after disc overhauling, i felt no difference in braking. when i asked about the same with the mechanic, he told that the discs are washed and with oil and hence i feel the brakes are not working properly. he asked me to ride for a few kms and then it would do good. but no improvement in braking whatsoever.. this time i'm again changing the disc pads. so, i wanted to make sure i'm not taken for a ride from the svc guys.. usually, they charge for new parts and replace with old parts which are good enough. i found this in bangalore wheels. personal experience.

Hmm, AFAIK, there is no repair that can actually be done to the disc except bleeding the oil in case of the brake feeling too spongy. Mechanics sometimes call this air lock. Was this there in your case?
I don't think the disc plates can be worn out that early.
Have a look this time when changing the pads.

                    Bro..
AFAIK, Braking is due to the friction b/n the brake pads and the disc plate.(Please correct me if I'm wrong). As we depress the Brake lever the contact area b/n the disc pad and the plate increases thereby producing braking effect.
So,if the discs are oily then certainly the brake pads will have a tough time in gripping the disc plate, whenever the brake is applied.

Please check your disc plate if its oily/slippery.Rub you palm/finger over the disc plate and let us know.

Yesss... Mine is also 2 months old .... front is 28 , rear is 33. that is the recommended tyre pressure.

bro, do you mean to say that(the bold part) is called disc overhauling? they didn't say anything about airlock. and my disc plates are just fine. may be they called the disc plate as disc pad. in that case, is it true that the new disc pads don't work best with old disc plates? i mean to say doesn't it give the original braking effect?
and this time i'll be in front of the bike all the time and torture the service guy and make his day hell..

bro, thanks for the reply.. i agree with the braking mechanism. but the second part what you told is what i was also thinking before the svc guy told me that the oil helps in braking.. may be it keeps the disc very clean so that there are no dust particles which curb braking effect to an extent.. me too confused.. not very clear. some expert may throw some light on this. and i'm talking about what happened the last time.. i did check the disc plate and it was quite slippery. but after 2 days of riding, i checked again to find out that disc plates were not slippery. but still there was no significant improvement in braking effect..

Am planning to go with the tank protectors alone by tomo!

                          Need few clarifications:

                          1. I tend to keep the rear brake lever pressed as i am not completely used to the position (my legs automatically push them and i notice after a few mins ). So i tend to move my leg away from the brake lever. This do increase my braking reflex time which is highly dangerous. Any suggestions to overcome this pls!

                          2. The radiator fan keeps running while i tend to halt my vehicle after my ride. In case if the fan runs after turning the engine off. Do i need to wait until it finishes to cool or can i switch off the main switch ?

If thats the case, then the oil must have made the brake pads a bit spongy.
you can ask the SVC people to dismantle the brake pad and maybe check the sponginess of the pads.
Other than this,I don't see any reasons for brakes not functioning upto the mark.

                            1) you can keep your right foot just under the rear brake pedal in the same manner as you keep your left foot while up-shifting.
While braking its easy to bring the foot back over the pedal. It needs a bit of practice though.

                            2) I don't see any problems if you cut of the main switch when the radiator is running.
You can actually cut of the main switch if you know that you wont be riding for a long span of time, your bike's engine will get cooled with time.
But if you will ride again in a short span then you can leave the main ignition ON for sometime, just to be on a safer side.

                            Happy riding

                              • Happy and confused too..

Finally booked R15 version 2.0 and dealer told me 1 month waiting period in which I can decide which color to choose..

I'm really confused between black and red-white..
When I see red it looks sexy and when I see black it looks cool..

And yeah There are no demo or test models here so I just have to depend upon images or else wait for one month see colors and then decide which is impractical for me..

Please help me guys to decide which color to choose
