  • Hello guys,
I happened to visit the Yamaha stall in BIAE, i met a guy who claimed to be from Yamaha (wearing the yamaha outfit). He says there will be Yamaha 250 cc coming by end of 2009. Dont know how true or valid was his comment. Any news anyone has on the same?

but there WILL be a new R15 this year with LESS power and a fatter tyre...which will not be a 150 CC. by end of March.

Take my words...its from an internal source....the colour will be white & red combination in addition with the present colours.
If you are talking about YZF R125 then I really do not think that Yamaha will launch R125 or anything similar in India in a shorter period. As R15 is already running and it has not captured the market properly. Yamaha is releasing add-ons and accessories for R15 (which is a great news), so that the sale increases and R15 owners are satisfied. Sale of R15 has not been as expected by Yamaha and on top of this they themselves bringing in a competition for R15 will not be good idea. New models in higher power range is also doubtful as there are no competition (atleast in 2009). Ninja and CBR are still hypes and nothing else. Its what I think and not based on any external or internal resources.

I hope that this news comes out to be true in coming days. A new BodyKit (Split seat) will be awesome for sure.

5.a modification in the rear end of the bike being thought by yam.they plan to release
a accessory or a body kit tht would make the bikes rear end look close to an R6's.

7.Expect the rear mud gaurd and slidders(or crash bobbins) to be included in the accessory list in a few months.which i feel are really crucial for the bike
Thanks for the News Aman. Hope to these things in the in the showroom soon.

        • According to a new post at team-bhp, someone spotted a FZ250 and a YZF125 in Chennai. Nobody knows the veracity of the information though. Here is the link- spotted fz-250 and yzf-150 - Team-BHP

An FZ250 sounds very yum. The FZ16 seriously deserves a 250cc mill anyway.

Its not very visible in the picture. But I am sure a split seat by yamaha would be kool.

That is just a local one. Yamaha will surely provide a much better one.

Wishful thinking! But the following 3 are expected from Yamaha in 2009:
                          1. Gearless scooter
                          2. 125 cc bike, similar to R125 but less radical of course.
                          3. 100cc bread&butter bike.

No revamps to either of the 150s till 2nd quarter 2010, no 250 on the cards. Enjoy your R15s&put the crash bobbins/tyre huggers on as company is seriously planning for them.

                            • Poor quality rims

I did have a serious issue with the alloys yesterday.. I hit a hole (caused by some cracks, not so big one) on a highway and to my surprise, both the rims gave up. The front rim got bent and rear one cracked, infact it broke. I was at 95-100 kmph. I weigh 56 kilos and the pillion rider weigh's 64 kgs. Though the speed was high but I really never thought that the quality of the rim was so bad that it would crack. Guys from Hyd visiting Venkatesh Motors SS can see the damage. Bike number is AP29AE 4533

I was then 150 kms away from Hyderabad and it was late evening. How I returned is another story....

Guys be careful when you see these holes..and take my words on this.. the quality of the rims is really bad. I hope Yamaha does something about it. People who have faced problems with the rims please let us know here so that we could take it up to Yamaha and hope they come with some good solution as Bajaj had done for the front fork issues of P200.

But I would appreciate one thing. The feel was as if both my tyres took a hit and bursted when actually the front rim got bent and rear one cracked... but the bike didnot lose its balance. Both tyres leaked almost at the same time but the bike was rock steady and I was easily able to take it to the side of the highway to park it.

Will try to post the pics of the damage late today...

Heard from you after a long time Lohit...Really sorry to hear about the incident. I think Venkatesha should be able to give you a rim replacement. As for the tyres, I've seen one kid claiming a free replacement at Pearl too. They are covered under warranty. Check the manual for the rims-I'm sure about the tyres though.
