  • finally good service .. bangalore wheels prabhakar does some real good work and takes pride in the result .. He was shining my vehicle after servicing it until it was absolutely sparkling.

Best part .. my 3rd free service was .. er .. FREE.

Didn't get the oil changed and had instructed them not to lube the chain (170 bucks !!) .. they lubed the chain by mistake and hence didn't charge me.

It was good fun showing vikas my gate pass without a bill while he was shelling out quite a bit.

Another thing .. met up with 3 yamaha officials at the auto expo while having lunch there .. told them the great experience we had with after sales and they took our feedback. Will do the required follow up and see the result.

Also .. Yamaha has been renamed to India Yamaha Motors Limited and their sales division is called Yamaha India Sales Pvt Ltd.

So the mail you guys got was official (as confirmed by them) and they have formed an official club called torqmasters or something. Exclusively for 1 5 owners. Although we met another group of posers (as per my first impression) trying to form an official club called Bangalore R15 Club. They went tosome official inaugration of the R15 club via some rally or something today and got T shirts.

if for an R15, it outlasts the service interval.

1800Rs for outlasting a single service interval..isn't that too much?? :| Guess this's cos of the importing of these cans..(The writing on the can shows).

On the other hand.. I found a way to lube the cables, chain very easily. They sell tiny containers of sprays called "Zorrik 88" at supermarkets(I bought mine at Reliance Fresh). It's supposed to both clean and lube, so tried it on my bike..and it worked! A small container costs 50rs and is enough to lube all the cables+chain. The best part is, it too dries off in a day and leaves the chain smooth, so no dust or whatsoever on the chain..It's good

We have a communication gap here... I'm one of the contributors!

my previous post was about the YamaLube Engine Oil!!! The mineral one available for Rs190 I guess.

The Yamalube Chain Lube should last longer. My OKS Chain Lube can came in handy for me for close to 9000 KMs with a lube interval of 500-700 KMs. Going by this, if the OKS can last 700 KMs of road driving, the Yamalube dry one should last longer! (My assumption)

Ever noticed the silverish thing on a new R15 / FZ16 chain at the showroom? That's this one.

Sad that they donlt have even the product name written in English! Isn;t the text on the can Japanese?

About the Zorrik 88, it is a product from Pidilite (makers of Fevicol) and is in the lines of WD40. Very good product but not for O-Ring chains... of course, this is a well debated topic world over and I don't want to start it over again. One clue here is that this product can contain about 70% or more pretoleum based product.

My radiator fan came on yesterday (the second time since i bought the bike), after i did 15.6kms and stopped at a traffic jam. It operates even when the engine is'nt running. Gave me quite a start! The handlebars give a slight buzz when it works.....

Am gonna service the bike on monday. Hopefully it should run better now and i expect fe to go up..... Kolkata guys, where do you service it from? And if anybody has done it from leaders (opp. South city mall) what is the feedback?
buddy i hope you don't know about the new factory outlet beside hyundai showroom at keshtopur, vip road. Go and get it done from there...u'll feel the difference...the r1 and mt01 is also on display there....:d

The 500ml can of Yamalube Chain Lube lasts for 6-8 applications at the SS. So I guess if applied correctly it should last for a fair bit because once you apply it and if the bike is used in normal dry conditions (not too much exposure to moisture) it shouldn't wear off for 3000kms. After that you clean the chain and reapply the lube.

                  • Guys, I went to a Yamaha service center to service my friend's G5. What I saw there was an eye opener for me! There was a new R15 undergoing servicing. This 2month old R15 was having a lot of problems. The rear brake pads were completely used up in 2 month !!! Cost - Rs. 1xxx. Then the front disk was warped. They were hammering on in on a desk! Then the front speed sensor was replaced - cost Rs. 5xx. And to top it all BOTH the rim paint was chipping off!!! Is this what the quality of Yamaha have reduced to??? Anyone having similar experiences?
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

                    • @Abhijeet

Your friend might have got a lemon or a test/demo bike. And sometimes, such defects manage to even bypass the stringent quality standards of the big four. The R15 has been having rusting and wheel rim bending issues for a while now which should(hopefully) be corrected in the '09 model. I feel that the R15 is getting more than it's share of negative attention than other bikes in the market primarily because of the fact that it is one of the costliest Indian-made motorcycles around and also because, the buyers of the R15, generally are hard core motorcycle enthusiasts who pay some extra attention to every aspect of the motorcycle.

                      • @jay .. you seem to be a yamaha official. If so then you will get a lot of feedback (positive and negative) about the 1 5 via this thread. There is also a FZ thread so you could look into that too.

Hehe, no affiliations mate. Currently ride a YBX, now changing sides to an LB500(considered the R15). Yamaha is very close to the heart, you see-learnt to ride on one.
