Thanks! I will! I plan to go to Pune-Banglore highway, which is part of golden Quadrilateral. It has some time-slots with minimum traffic.

And do not forget to crouch. Let the engine warmup before you rip her.
Shifting can be done at 10K too...

          • BTW, guys, during the last ride, that ended on Diwali day, I have hit a big unseen pothole at over 90 kmph... had a serious jerk for the whole bike...

Though this was among the numerous potholes and speed brakes I have hit at high speeds, this one had sharp edges and the opposite end was lower than the starting end (one reason why I couldn't see this). At my next stop abt 30 kms later, I noticed two damages -
            1) my wallet is missing (worst part is it has my petro card, license, rc card apart from money, CC's, DC's and Health card)
            2) the rear alloy has a slight deformation (not a wheel bend, will post the pics soon)

I am pretty busy with some work and did not even take it to the SS yet.... I rode over 200 kms after seeing the damage....

Has anyone of you tried launching the bike with a leaner fuel flow?
its one of those old school time popular hacks for ECU choked bikes... I may be wrong for the name of the technique, but the way it goes is to ride a bike a lill, and slow down to halt.... at this point keep on feeding the clutch and throttle.... this will build up the fuel flow which is virtually doing nothing.... 15 second later shout "yippy kai yay" and launch the bike.... a la drag style.... Although this will give you a initial bump but will cause a lag if the gears are not switched soon...

                • I had had a minot crash sometime back. I'd thought that it was just a chipped fender, but more was to come. Apparently the radiator assembly is a sensitive thing, it had developed a crack and coolant started to trickle through. I was so bummed out I took to working it out myself but could only diagnose it, for want of a spare radiator. I took her to the SS today, got it replaced. Man, the fairings are a tough job to get off and replace!! It was a full two hour show. Also got the second service done. The coolant level was way below the minimum. I had new motul coolant filled in, changed oil from castrol 20w40 to yamalube back. Castrol just doesnt work here, the engine felt pretty harsh. Smooth is the word now. The honeymoon begins afresh at 3k kms.

Some advice for people getting their horns changed: Make sure the nut connecting the horn to the radiator is not overtightened, or you could have her peeing green coolant sooner rather than later.

                  • Hey guyz... i need some help n suggestions from u guyz....

I own a blue R15 which is around 35 days old n has run around 650kms..

I m goin for my first free service on Wednesday.. few things i've already marked out like lowering the gear shift lever and all...

The help which i want from u guys is... i today visited the metro tyres shop in scooter gulli, lamington road, Mumbai(this shop was suggested to me by some mumbai xbhpians). The person there was quite helpful...

I m plannin to go for fatter tyres for my R15. I m plannin to get it done after my first service...

I initially was plannin to go for 100 section tyre for front and 120 section for rear...but the person there showed and suggested me to go for 130 section low profile tyres instead of 120 section high profile ones.. for the front tyre he said there's not much of an issue...

I dont hav much of a knowledge bout the tyres... i asked him has he already fitted that tyre to any R15? and he answered he has done it with many R15s..

The best part he said was that no modification is needed to b done for 130 low profile tyre.. i asked him bout the change in performance and efficiency..and he replied that the fuel average'll b dropped by appro 2kms and no change in performance... only change will b u'll feel more confident while cornering...

So guys what my questions are..

                    1) Is IRC a good brand to go for? coz i personally have no idea bout this brand...

                    2) Talkin bout the fuel efficiency, i hav no prob even if the millege drops by 2kms..but the performance shud b unaffacted. coz for me performance is more imp than looks..

                    3) price he told me for the pair is 6000/- and refund of 1500/- for my current R15 tyres which comes out to b 4500/-

                    is the price ok?

One more thing i wud like to add is there was a guy with his brand new FZ16 and that fellow was getting fitted a 120 section IRC tyre front and a humongous 160 section for rear.. it was jaw droppping...

anyways... guyz plz help me soon as i want to get the job done as soon as possible...

If as per u people IRC is not the brand to go for then which one shud i go for?

                    Thanx in advance...

May we know the reason behind this change of tyres? If you have seen propmotionals, they have the same tyres & they are racing around the track tilting it like anything, So, why fix it if it ain't broken?

And please read through this article, where racers have actually admired these tyres...

BHAI, close your eyes and go ahead with the plan...it can do 110 any day anytime with or without pillion. it will cross those limits too. the top notch i got from my bike was 138 (speedo reading) being 76 Kilos in weight and 121 with pillion ( 76 kilo+ 74 kilo pillion in weight) It is one clean bike way ahead in technology than any other Indian bike.

Let me cut it short... Ride it to know it if you can before purchasing it. Make sure you ride it for some decent 30-50 kms. rest bike will do the talking!!!!!

                          • I do not suggest you for changing your bike tyres just to impress on lookers..

If you still want then go for IRC. There is a model in them which has got same more bigger compound tyres like your current R15 one. You do not have to worry about changing your swing arm it suits perfectly. It costs 2250 each here at Bangalore. 1500rs for both the tyres of R15 is not worth, atleast get 2k for both as brand new costs each 2760 incl tax

For one moment i thought u were saying that the fz guy was downsizing to a 120 section back! Wonder how that would change things!
Ketan, i guess the r 15 tyres dont look proportionate to the fairing and all that, but my 2 paisa would be that you should retain the stock tyres. As far as i have heard, they do a really good job. Maybe you could change once they are worn out, and experiment with an upsize. Else it would be just a waste of money and I am willing to wage a 100 bucks that the performance will take a hit!
