My take, yes, it would actually kill performance because those tyres are seriously heavy. Fantastic grip no doubt BUT dont change to those. not meant for the R15 which employs weight reduction in all aspects

      • Drift King : Bro, are you aware that MRF spent lakhs in developing these special tyres for the R15? The amount of grip these tryes have is phenomenal. They might look tiny, but they PERFORM. Ofcourse, if you replace them with wider 120mm tyres, performance will take a hit. Its like wearing 3-4 size plus shoes and running (i hope u get what i mean)

mizbah : the bike's battery might have drained out. Never leave the headlight on when the bike's engine is not on. If the display isnt coming on, check for the fuse. a fuse might have blown when you were trying to start the bike with a low battery

              • u must be nuts to leave the headlights on for that long ?
were u by any chance sitting and studying under that light ?

No need to go to any yamm centre , its ur fault here , open the seat , remove the battery, get it charged for 8 hours and then its be alright ,

u expect a 3.5ah battery to support 70 watts of power when ur not even charging it ???

dude next time avoid it , what if u went somewhere at night and did this amazing thing , hw will u get back home.

push start it and leave the engine on for sometime now , let it get charged. else get the battery charged.

First thing to keep in mind is ..if u guys preffer performace over looks..do not change the tyres if ur using the same alloys. secondary..if u wanna go for more performace..the MRFs on the R-15s are the best things..similar soft compounds are not easily available...if u get imported stuff..i honestly done know how to check if they are soft compound or not. Regarding the banking on roads thing..it only depends upon the tyre profile. If u guys can get the same profile as the stock tyres on the bike..u've hit the jackpot. Or else..what ever changes u make..might not give anything better than a stock set of rubbers on the R15.

                    • huh! we discussed abt the tyres umpteen times before the server crash... looks like it just doesn't end! After all, looks do matter!!!

BTW, guys, here's a few snaps of the damage my rear alloy...

First 2 pics are of right side and the 3rd one is of left side.

                      • @Xenologik, yamracing, R-series - I am not interested in changing the tires. I am happy with the stock tires but I asked the question because those tires were of a much better compound and i thought they would increase the performance.

                        • I would say, stick to the normal ones, until unless u actually get hold of wider tyres, which weigh the same as the stock ones. Cheers

apart from the compound..as i said the profile matters when it comes to cornering..and for the performance the weight of the tyre will come into picture. If the tyre ur looking for is of same or better compund and same or lesser weight..ur in for a treat as far as performance is concerned.
But cornering would be hampered if its a wider tyre on the same alloy.

                            • I recently took a test ride of R15...and I was impressed by its performance!

I felt that throughout the rev range it packs more punch especially at higher revs. I did not find lack of power in lower rev range which would bother me, for me it was fine. And yes, its handling and suspension are a benchmark in India currently.

                              • where do we get matte black spray paint cans? .. shiny black should be available at maruti service centers.

also where are the accessoies available in blore .. I got to buy a paddock stand and tank protector. Rim strips too if available.
