I know about the Keshtopur showroom, and was also eagerly wanting it to service bikes, but I heard that they have not started servicing bikes yet. Its just opened. And there are two R1's on display along with the MT01 (one of my friends has pictures of the showroom).
About the chain spray and lube, is there a Yamaha chain spray and a chain lube, or is it just a single can that does it all?
Also there is a wild rumor about a performance kit. Any news? You get the point?? :D

Maybe what you are saying is correct. But when the front disc warps, or the rear brake looses its effectiveness or the speedo stops working or even the paint chips off, it cannot be said that only hard core motorcycle enthusiasts who pay some extra attention to every aspect of the motorcycle will notice them. These are very noticeable problems which are not expected in a NEW bike.Originally posted by jayprashanth View Post@Abhijeet
Your friend might have got a lemon or a test/demo bike. And sometimes, such defects manage to even bypass the stringent quality standards of the big four. The R15 has been having rusting and wheel rim bending issues for a while now which should(hopefully) be corrected in the '09 model. I feel that the R15 is getting more than it's share of negative attention than other bikes in the market primarily because of the fact that it is one of the costliest Indian-made motorcycles around and also because, the buyers of the R15, generally are hard core motorcycle enthusiasts who pay some extra attention to every aspect of the motorcycle.
Maybe the bike was launched without proper on-road testing. Moreover this cannot be termed as an isolated example. That day itself, there were 2 more such bikes. One had some issue with its fueling, while the other one had the same rear brake problem.
The only conclusion I can draw is that Yamaha has very poor quality control, at least for the first few batches of the R15. Hope that improves soon. I was hoping to buy a FZ-16 next year. But now I simply can not trust Yamaha. Let us wait and see.
@ Others - please discuss if you have also heard of such examples.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Reg: chain spray and lube...there is one chain cleaner and one chain lube...first you need to clean the chain and then lubricate it...NIHIL ULTRA

Posting excerpts of a Orkut R15 community member from his recent trip to the Banglore Auto show:
- its confirmed that yamahas making an R15 club, and BRC (BANGALORE R15 CLUB) is the 1st club in india to be recognised.
- all BRC members where given ID cards,a photo of ourselves with a cool yam frame.
yamaha is inthe process of creating a blog for all R15 owners to discuss abt modifications road trips and etc etc.
- had a chance to interact with the R & D head of yam. he provided us some crucial info and some hard facts thts well enough to stop some rumours.
1.THERE IS NO 2009 R15 BEING PLANNED.
I REPEAT, "NO NEW 09 R15 TO BE LAUNCHED"
yams going to stick to the same bike for the whole of next year and may be into the
1st quarter of 2010.
Expect new colors though.yellow and white may be launched.
2.Expect new bikes in this year(not scooters he said).
3. no use Cribbing about the rear tire,ITS NOT GOING TO BE REPLACED!
yam has strongly indicated that changing the rear tire will change the ride dynamics
and also deteriorate the bikes Killer handling and also reduce its topspeed and mileage
4.The Honda CBR150 will NOT BE launched(not this year for sure).Honda has troubles
importing the bike here as its not getting any tax benefits.R15 rules!
5.a modification in the rear end of the bike being thought by yam.they plan to release
a accessory or a body kit tht would make the bikes rear end look close to an R6's.
6.Thanks to madhu(moderator),a serious thought is being taken by yam to release an adjustable rear mono shock for the bike(only as an accessory).
7.Expect the rear mud gaurd and slidders(or crash bobbins) to be included in the accessory list in a few months.which i feel are really crucial for the bike| Judging a bike by a cubic capacity yardstick is like judging a female by her bra size |

Some questions are:
1. Any idea about the new bikes? Are they of higher capacity like 250cc?
2. Will this body kit end up making the R15 into a split seater? Or is the mod only intended for the taillamp?
3. Any possibility of centerstand being launched as an accessory?Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Curse 'em. Why couldn't they do it before I bought the bike? I am in the process of getting her painted.Originally posted by aman_pulsating View PostExpect new colors though.yellow and white may be launched. And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. @R15Rocks and others... I am sorry but i cant answer any of your queries regarding my above post because I was not a witness to all this. I just posted it as a news for R15 owners as it is authentic.
surely we can discuss on the above points and would be something new from our usual 'cribbing about SS' posts!| Judging a bike by a cubic capacity yardstick is like judging a female by her bra size |

I have been hunting for crash bobbins for the R15 from quite some time now. So this news comes as a welcome relief. Do you have any idea when approximately can we expect these accessories? Also by rear mud guard are you referring to the rear tyre hugger?Originally posted by aman_pulsating View Post7.Expect the rear mud gaurd and slidders(or crash bobbins) to be included in the accessory list in a few months.which i feel are really crucial for the bikeWatch my Baby R1 clock 148kmph at http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=cAHbYl...e=channel_page.

but there WILL be a new R15 this year with LESS power and a fatter tyre...which will not be a 150 CC. by end of March.
Take my words...its from an internal source....the colour will be white & red combination in addition with the present colours.NIHIL ULTRA
