Heard from you after a long time Lohit...Really sorry to hear about the incident. I think Venkatesha should be able to give you a rim replacement. As for the tyres, I've seen one kid claiming a free replacement at Pearl too. They are covered under warranty. Check the manual for the rims-I'm sure about the tyres though.

Yep I was a silent visitor for quiet some time now . I am really not sure about the tyres if they are gone.. both got inflated right when I hit the hole. And Venkatesh told that that the damage needs to be covered under Insurance..

I did have a serious issue with the alloys yesterday.. I hit a hole (caused by some cracks, not so big one) on a highway and to my surprise, both the rims gave up. The front rim got bent and rear one cracked, infact it broke. I was at 95-100 kmph. I weigh 56 kilos and the pillion rider weigh's 64 kgs. Though the speed was high but I really never thought that the quality of the rim was so bad that it would crack. Guys from Hyd visiting Venkatesh Motors SS can see the damage. Bike number is AP29AE 4533

I was then 150 kms away from Hyderabad and it was late evening. How I returned is another story....

Guys be careful when you see these holes..and take my words on this.. the quality of the rims is really bad. I hope Yamaha does something about it. People who have faced problems with the rims please let us know here so that we could take it up to Yamaha and hope they come with some good solution as Bajaj had done for the front fork issues of P200.

But I would appreciate one thing. The feel was as if both my tyres took a hit and bursted when actually the front rim got bent and rear one cracked... but the bike didnot lose its balance. Both tyres leaked almost at the same time but the bike was rock steady and I was easily able to take it to the side of the highway to park it.

Will try to post the pics of the damage late today...

You mean both got deflated. The guy who came to Pearl had air leaking out of his tyre without any punctures. He got a free replacement. They claimed it under warranty. Even saw them writing a letter to Yamaha. Try to press them-are you going to Venkatesha for servicing these days?

Oops!!! Thats really bad man. Thank God ur safe. When things like this go wrong, there is no telling what might happen. Has Yamaha taken the wrong way around to cut costs? I hope not. Now this reminds me that I have to take on potholes and speedbreakers with a slower speed and cant just ride over them like motocross!!

One of my friends bike met with the same incident long back where his both alloys got cracked & was fully bent. We had escalated the issue with the Yamaha & got poor response from them with just one word answer *Its not covered under warranty & you might have met with some accident*. Who the hell asked them warranty here, we just wanted to showed them the quality of the product we have got for country's premium bike. For this sake my friend sold off his bike itself within a week after replacing with new rims.

I wanted to change my bike's both alloys with good quality one which if its available after market. Any suggestions guys ?

I too appreciate Bajaj for when they replaced my P200 Front Forks when they got to know about the quality.

You can check the P220 rims, as they are also of 17" front&rear. You can find more specifications in the manual. However, since they are silver, they may not match with the R15.

News is that the '09 P220 will have black alloys too, so I would suggest waiting for it. Having changed the rims, you could consider changing the tyres as well!
