        i own a yellow r15

my bike is around 3 months old

well, i do not have any trouble till now
but i want to ask one thing

when i got the bike around 15 days after my cousin asked me if he could ride the bike

        i permitted him

he took the bike but he was unaware where the horn knob is located
        (i.e the left hand side)

he was not knowing so he pressed the self knob (i.e on the right side) while the engine was already running

i want to ask you all
that does he damaged the self starter or the engine by doing that?
or yamaha guys have worked on it and it ensures safely and nothing is wrong?

after he came back after the ride i noticed that the battery was lil discharged

        need your help guys

        please!!!!
it wont damage it in a single time......but can damage if done repeatedly.

and neither bikes or cars have any "Cut off" facility.

        • Sorry i forgot to add that on institing further, the dealer offered me free teflon coating(Rs 1000) and free gloves(Rs 500, must be s**t) instead of disc. of Rs 700 on teflon and central locking costs.

Anyways, the OTR price varies from state to state due to Octroi charges. OTR Hyd is around 1.13L so you are getting a proper deal. If they offer you free teflon, get it done-it is good.
As for the central locking device, I haven't come across any dealer offering the same since it is not an official accessory. Could you provide some details of the same?
Yes Savajit sir your help is really appericiated...Thanks a ton!!!!!

As i was not intrested in cental locking( coz almost all my frns removed it as it used to beep constantly and drained battery), I didn't inquired for it, but it would be an aftermarket one just like dealers of other companies offer. I'm also not intersted in teflon coating by the dealer as being offered for free, quality could be compromised.

Are offers given in other areas or just Flat OTR. Please temme offers you got(if any).

            • Since the past couple of days..i can hear sum gruff vibrations from the front panel around 6-8 rpm meter range..!

Whenever i accelerate..the bike sounds perfectly smooth. As soon as i reach 6rpm mark i can hear this gruff vibration sound coming from the front panel, which continues till the 8 rpm mark..and beyond that the bike sounds fine again..!

              The sound really bothers me..!
What should be done to remove this sound...?

Just check and tighten all of the fairing screws if the vibs are related to the fairing.

Recently I had the same problem and after some analysis came to know that the fiber cover between the speedo and faring glass is hitting the faring where the faring glass sits.. And also there was some gap in between the faring glass and faring.

So I removed the mirror and faring glass. Put a line of double sided tape in between and tighten the whole stuff. And just stick two small piece of double sided take on both side where the fiber cover on the speedo was hitting.

After that the sound is gone..

You must check the above areas, if they are vibrating...
Please use all possible safety measures while riding and remember others also riding on the same road...

                      • @All: I was reading this stuff about periodic fork oil replacement on the RTR thread, I'm now wondering what about the R15? Nothing is mentioned about the fork oil at all in the manual!
Anyone got any info on this? Or is it best left alone till it it shows some signs of malfunction?
But there has to be a certain life for the fork oil!

My bike has crossed 15K kms.&is nearing 2 years. Maybe its time to replace the fork oil. Do the oil seals also have to be replaced at the time of doing this?
I believe at the 2 year end service the manual mentions replacing the coolant, brake fluids too.
At the 12K service it was mentioned to lubricate the front steering bearings&monoshock suspension links too, but none was done. No.2 was flatly refused, since they said its too time consuming to remove the chain covers, then grease. No.1 was attempted on my persuasion, but they were finding it too tough to remove the bearing seal, so again deferred.
So I have a lot of things to get done at my next service!

@All: Anyone found out about the fully synthetic Yamalube engine oil that someone in the FZ thread has used for Rs.630?

                            • Insurance Renewal

@All: My bike is nearing completion of 1 year, and its now time for the insurance renewal (valid till 14-May-10).
The insurance was done with 'The New India Assurance Company' by the showroom that I purchased the bike from.
The IDV of the vehicle under this first insurance contract was INR 92,407, with premium of INR 1,692 (Premium 1,534 + ST 158)

I have received a letter for renewal from the same insurance company for IDV 77,816, and premium of 1,265.
My friend and I think that the IDV is too low (no insurance claims made till date).
Do you think I should get the insurance company changed, and/or the IDV?

What is yout take on this? Please help as I plan to get the renewal done over this weekend.
