bro, how much did they quote for the tyres initially?Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostI have got a new set of tyres from outside for some 3400 bucks total after hard bargaining.
here in bangalore, front tyre costs INR 2000 ans rear tyre costs INR 2800 as quoted by orion motors, koramangala. that means together they cost INR 4800 which is INR 1400 more than what you have quoted.

Covered under warranty- Yes.Originally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View PostMe and my younger cousin both have R15. He faced the same speedo problems on his machine and even though I don't know the exact price, but it surely was several times than the amount what you paid. This incident happened in Feb 2009 and we still have got the bill, which read 'covered under warranty'.Originally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View PostBtw, did you check the bill and the price of the sensor on packing itself?
Did I see price on the carton - Yes.
Did I see price on the bill - No, as FOC replacements don't carry a price on the bill.
Don't embarass me by calling me 'Sir'Originally posted by nagsgwda007 View Postsir, thanks a lot for the reply..
will go to jc road tomorrow noon and will try to get the tyre. do you happen to remember by any chance any specific shop name and the price of the rear tyre?
i've heard that the price differs a bit from one shop to other.
hence the question..
IIRC, the corect prices are approximately: front - INR 1350; rear - INR 1700.
I'm still using the stock tyres, hence don't know any specific shops.
Dealers do quote what price they want, especially in B'lore. You gotta be smart in bargaining, & need to check across a variety of shops for best deal.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

didn't mean it..
and once again thanks for the timely reply.. it would be very helpful for me..
i'll try my best to bargain and would enquire every single shop(of course tyre shop) in jc road.

Sir! what about the MRP, does anyone know what this is? knowledge of this is bargaining power, if the fellow won't give for at least mrp, threaten to report him, actually screw the threat, just report him! and purchase from else where, I paid 1500 bucks for a front tyre a few months back, this was the list price, the fellow would not budge, even gave a tax bill, I had to get the install done elsewhere, the MRF dealer recommended a chimpanzee, who bent both of my rims! by putting the front tyre (original back tyre) back in it's place and fitting a new front tyre, on the front rim!Originally posted by tibby View Post

More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

please check the fuel pump.. since ur bike was not in use for approx 1 month..Originally posted by abh1nav View PostGuys, i have a problem with my R15.. a few days back i took out my bike after nearly 4 weeks but the bike refused to start. Called up a mechanic.. since the headlight was working fine so i guess there's no battery problem. The mechanic pushed my bike for a while and it started.. but then again after turning it off, it didn't start again/ he said that maybe its because of the blown fuse.Today, i replaced the fuse to but still no use. My bike is 1.5 years old. Any suggestions?DRIVE SAFE, RIDE HARDER

Finally got the sensor replaced for free as it was covered under warranty, diont had to pay any labor charges also.
I confirmed the sensors cost is 500/- only. Its called as speed sensor.
They had to open the entire front assembly to replace it and than the bike feels much lighter and like feather weight. wondering what have they done with it.
Also checked the R2 and took a test ride, The bike gives a good initial pull so called as low end torque as i observed on 4th gear it was pulling well under 4k rpm which in my bike i have to downshift to second or third gear and do. Yes braking and aero dynamics are same but the rear seat lifted a bit can really give some posers a big smile by girls.
but also i observed while taking sharp corners the way i tilt my current R15, i could not do it as the rear was not feeling too much planted and was doing a bit fish tail dances. Tried to hit the top end but was sad to see the response is slow after it hits 110 or so.I dont know the issue was with the bike or something else.

R15 tyres have fancy prices. Here in Hyderabad, every MRF dealer has his own set of prices for the front and rear tyres. I would suggest to call MRF dealers in your vicinity and check the prices. I got quotes of 1500-2000 for front tyre and 1600-2500 for rear tyre. Finally got both the tyres for 3100 couple of weeks back.Originally posted by nagsgwda007 View Postbro, how much did they quote for the tyres initially?

That is nice to hear. Hope mine is not in a bad condition-the coneset is expensive.Originally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View Post23K kms isn't that much but the duration of 3yrs is. Mine is running on stock conesets since June 2008 and 59K kms.
Before that I need to get my rim repaired!
That aside, how is the bike overall at around 60K kms.? Clutch plates? Battery? Engine wear?
They asked for 2000&1800 respectively. After hunting in a few shops, I decided I will bargain with the same guy from whom I bought my other bike's Michelins from, hence this rate (it includes 2% credit card surcharge as well).Originally posted by nagsgwda007 View Postbro, how much did they quote for the tyres initially?

@All: be careful when you go looking for tyres for R15, some dealers will show you a 'new&improved' rear tyre in stock size with Zapper FX written on it. It is actually the FZ front tyre!
Don't let anyone con you...
Did this solve the light blinking issue?Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostFinally got the sensor replaced for free as it was covered under warranty, diont had to pay any labor charges also.
As I expected. I did not expect the bike to be as agile with the increased weight. Also checked the R2 and took a test ride, The bike gives a good initial pull so called as low end torque as i observed on 4th gear it was pulling well under 4k rpm which in my bike i have to downshift to second or third gear and do. Sprocketing changes have increased low end accelaration at the cost of top end as calculated on the Sprockets thread. This will surely help in city though.
How is the rear brake? Any difference due to the larger size or does it have no stopping power of its own unless aided by the front one, like V1's?Quench my thirst with gasoline!
