    • Race Concepts ECU(Joel)

      hi all,

this is slightly out of topic but just wanted to share an info:

For those riders who are based in mumbai, the Race concepts, Race Dynamics custom ECU is now available at Kamla yamaha SVC, Lower Parel. i didn't get the time to check out the pricing... there are two models available, one is locked and pre mapped from factory and the other with programmable chip!!

      cheers

This is my first post on xBhp. I have been reading the posts here and have enjoyed my stay on this website. I was staying in Lucknow but recently got transferred to Bangalore. I have been a proud owner of FZ-16 since last autumn but left the bike in Lucknow with my younger bro. I am planning to buy an R-15 for me here in Bangalore. xBhpians from Bangalore: Is there anything I must know before purchasing the bike in Bangalore..I understand that there is a waiting period of around 15 days before the bike gets delivered. I am planning to buy it from Orion motors as they are nearest to where I stay. I will keep reading this thread and follow any advice I receive.
I am copy pasting from one of my earlier replies,

Dude, the people at Orion Motors have a reputation for swindling customers, make sure you get a first aid kit, and a tool kit with the bike. Check coolant and oil level. Stick to run in rpm restrictions, but accelerate as hard as you can within them, also give the bike lots of engine braking for a good run in. Keep varying the throttle for run in. Fuel up on the same fuel, i reccomend shell. clean and Lube your chain every 800 km's minimum and whenever it rains or you wash the bike. After run-in, when you cold start your bike, leave the bike in idle for a minute or two to warm up before riding (less engine wear and tear, but wear and tear is good during run-in). And ride below 5k rpm for the first 3-4 km whenever cold starting. This will preserve your engine and give it a much better life.

Also , I know its a little further away, but give your bike for service only at perfect riders lalbagh road, orion motors is a strict no no.

          • Strange issue with bike is occuring since morning. I was on my way to office and as the signal was long i put of my engine using engine kill switch. After some time i put the engine kill switch to on and tried starting it but the starter was not responding and i could see both orange and red light glowing continously. I took the bike on one side and did push start so she started. moment i put on the stock head lights the bike was completely off. than again i did a push start and did not kept the headlights on but came directly to my office. Wondering what can be the matter.

Well it was serviced just last week only. Is it possible the service center will not check it?

                      • Fuel Gauge!

I have been filling fuel for small amounts (30-50 rupees) for the past 10 days. So the fuel gauge never got out of the blinking (reserve) mode for nearly 120 kms. Today I fuelled up for 300 rupees and rode her for nearly 25 kms. But the gauge is still in the blinking mode only isn't it supposed to reset and show the correct fuel level after a few kms? Does it mean the gauge's gone kaput? can this be fixed by SVC?

                          • guys, this is an issue i have been facing repeatedly.. on hard braking, my bike tends to fishtail a lot! today, doing 60s i was overtaking a car from the left, then suddenly spotted a slow cyclist in my path, so i had no option but to brake hard.. i ended up fishtailing enough to scare the hell outta me.. i consciously use the rear brake less but even then it tends to skid a lot.. brake pads too aren't worn out..
                            any suggestions/pointers?/??

                            and about the misfiring anyone??
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

                            • One-Year of Bliss..

                              Hi fellow R15'ers,

My baby turned 1 year old on May 27th 2011, with 22500km on the ODO. And WHAT a year this has turned out to be! From being an Average-Joe commuter on my Honda Stunner, to being known as the Biker-boy of my neighbourhood. A fun-filled year consisting of long-distance touring, tarmac burning weekend thrill-rides, drag races and everyday commuting to office.

Haven't had any major issues with the bike as of now, never broken down, never left me stranded, and on one occasion brought me to the petrol bunk before conking off for lack of fuel. Joel's upgrades breathed fresh excitement into the ownership experience, with the bike becoming so much easier and exhilarating to ride! Average fuel-efficiency when bike was stock was 35-40kmpl, with the big-bore kit and Simota Air Filter it is now 42-50kmpl regularly. 0-100kmph in about 9secs is the icing on the yummy cake, now called the Race concepts R16.. Camshaft and ECU upgrades now on the radar!

Can't wait for the weekend to head out on a loooong ride, just for the sheer joy of owning this machine. almost 25,000km on the ODO now. Here's a couple of pics taken yesterday.

                              Cheers and happy riding!
