Its as good or as bad as the stock setup ....
but PS on a well setup HID you wont be needing 2 x hi beams for a long time, unless you want to show way to a zillion other riders behind!Last edited by satyenpoojary; 03-19-2010, 04:02 PM.Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

I own a R15 which is 3 months old . I never had any issue with the HID . The bike works perfectly . And the service guys never noticed the hid in the first 3 free servicesOriginally posted by harshit.d View PostYup i've already gone through the thread almost twice!!!
So with HID the electrical warranty would be void. Right? and any over load on the battery? I'm asking this coz the over load on battery can be seen with the stock headlight itself.
The sound of horn is different witht the high beam and with the low beam. So just don't want the horn or other electrical to die out as HID would require a humongous initial build up current.
so don't worry..
Please use all possible safety measures while riding and remember others also riding on the same road...

i have few queries:
1. what is the significance of oil filter change?my bike has done almost 10k and it is time for the oil filter change as per the manual but unfortunately it is out of stock at the svc. i am waiting for it. will an old filter cause overheating?
2. the overheating problem is still persisting even after i changed back to yamalube from motul but not as intense as before. i am planning to drain the entire coolant system and refill with new coolant. which coolant should i buy?can i use any genuine ready to use coolants used in cars.
3. a few months back i had read about joel speaking about different AF settings to suit different climate conditions. what is the best co setting for the present hot climate?superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

thanks buddy for letting me know 'bout the applicable rates thing. I know about the expected mileage, what I want to know about is the price of the other consumables like tires, engine oil, disc break pads etc etc
Any help guys??

Help-Need to change my R15s rear tyre !
Hi Mates,
I have been a avid reader of this thread though didn't post anything before this. I own a black R15 and currently I am facing some serious depressurisation of my rear wheel, donno what's the problem
. Of late, I need to inflate my tyre weekly because of this issue which is quite disheartening. So I wish to change my rear tyre with a Pirelli Scorpion 120x80x17 but since I am located in Bhubaneswar I am not getting any dealer for this brand.
Can anyone tell me the names of good tyre dealers in Bangalore or Mumbai as I have friends over there who can get it for me and ship it to my place. I need this tyre ASAP as I am planning to have a roadtrip to Sikkim by April mid week or so. I had this deflation issue during my Bhutan trip
but it was not so serious so this time I can't take any risks during the road trip. I would highly appreciate ur suggestions regarding this issue and won't mind trying out other alternatives which u suggest.

Oil filter's job is to filter the tiny particles of dust/metal/whatever from the engine oil so that the oil is clean and doesn't cause damage to the engine internals.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Posti have few queries:

Not changing an oil filter should not show an immediate effect on heating.
Try to get the Motul MotoCool. That's difficult to find. Else get the Castrol ready to use coolant (not the one where you have to mix with water).2. the overheating problem is still persisting even after i changed back to yamalube from motul but not as intense as before. i am planning to drain the entire coolant system and refill with new coolant. which coolant should i buy?can i use any genuine ready to use coolants used in cars.
Indian Oil, BPCL & HPCL... all of them have ready to use coolants.
The Stock setting seems to work better in hotter climates than in colder ones3. a few months back i had read about joel speaking about different AF settings to suit different climate conditions. what is the best co setting for the present hot climate?
Tires = front + back = ~ 3000Originally posted by Parth View Postwant to know about is the price of the other consumables like tires, engine oil, disc break pads etc etc
Engine Oil = YamaLube API SL Mineral = Rs 220
Front brake pads = Rs 685
Rear Brake Pads = Rs 1115
For your city, please give the options you have and we'll pick the better ones for you. Yamalube is better than most other oils available. If we suggest something, that might not be available at your place.Originally posted by raman sriharsha View Post@ all..

Blame it on the soft compound track type tyres. Tiny pores in your tyre leak the air slowly. Keep pumping in air twice a week even if you don't see the tyre depressed. Standard problem to everyone with more than half worn tyres.Originally posted by devil0483 View PostHi Mates,

Next time you change tyres may be you'd like to put in some Slime or Ride-on in it.

Alright, thanks.......but what about the time period after which these have to be replaced.
Also I'd like to know the price and usable time period of the chain cleaner and lubricants and also the coolant.(in city traffic)
also if you could suggest any cheaper alternatives, that would be awesome

Tyres last about 20,000 KMs.Originally posted by Parth View PostAlright, thanks.......but what about the time period after which these have to be replaced.

Engine Oil needs replacement every 3,000 KMs
Front Brake Pads should last at least 9,000 KMs
Rear Brake Pads should last at least 12,000 KMs
Chain needs a clean + lube session every 500 to 700 KMs.
*All of them vary based on usage and abuse.
Coolant, stick to the book - replace completely every two years and top it up when needed.

I still feel you are better off sticking to the YamaLube Semi Synth than trying out from elsewhere...Originally posted by raman sriharsha View Post@hydbiker--plz tell me gud one costing max 8oors....i wil get it frm vishakhapatnam or bhubaneswar
You can of course try the Motul 300v FL 5W40. Petronas Sprinta 4T 5000 might not be available for you, so would be AGIP. Leave aside the Castrol Power 1 Racing. At that cost you can get the much better Motul. These are all Semi Synths.
