Guys, I have recently waster a lot of money and huge amount of time in getting my tank repainted but still ended up getting a local job of not matching colour. I wish I had checked compaint once!
They did not have the Yamaha Blue colour earlier but they seem to have it now. They even have the yellow and red. Great for touch-ups.

paint matching is not a joke... specially with metallic ones
get a new tank rather wasting money on stupid paint job by stupid painters or go to painter which has a paint booth and has good knowledge about paints ..
get standox or dupont paint only !!!

when i enquired about the coolant stuff to the svc guy this is what he said- 'sir ,we use motul motocool after mixing it with water. sometimes when there is a shortage of coolant we buy coolant from the nearby hyundai svc and do the top up. if you are using the car redimix coolant there is no need to add water'
this is what they are saying.any way i am planning to buy some redimix car coolant . some of you guys are talking about fan coming on. what do you mean?you mean the fan getting switched on. my fan operates on a daily basis. since the svc guys are unable to detect the overheating problem i am now referred to the chief engineer who will be visiting the svc this week. if he is also not able to detect the complaint i am going to ask yamaha to replace the entire cooling system under warranty.the reason i asked about engine flushing is because a month before i changed to motul . due to overheating i shifted back to yamalube. now the heating problem is a lot less in intensity. so the oil was a culprit in causing the problem. now i want to make sure that i flush out all the remains of motul from inside the engine and fill with yamalube.
@hydbiker- which coolant is better?-castrol or motul?
also my suggestion to r15 owners who wish to change to motul synthetic will be to use 10w40. not 15w50. i paid the price for selecting the wrong grade.Last edited by akhilmuraleedhar; 03-21-2010, 07:48 PM.superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

So true. But the new tank costs about 5.5K. For a tiny dent it is a lot of price to pay. if you find the correct colour then over 80% of the job is done. And now we have the colour with ComPaint spray can. Just Rs 100 with free delivery.Originally posted by chiragh View Postpaint matching is not a joke... specially with metallic ones

Good paint booths unfortunately do not accept bikes. At least at most places. Just for a small patch I was ready to pay Rs 1500 and waited 6 weeks but gave up in the end and got it touched up elsewhere - for Rs 700. This is a hassle.
They were wrong. The Motocool is NOT supposed to be mixed with water. It is expensive @ Rs 311 per liter. May be they were trying to save some cost.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Postwhen i enquired about the coolant stuff to the svc guy this is what he said- 'sir ,we use motul motocool after mixing it with water. sometimes when there is a shortage of coolant we buy coolant from the nearby hyundai svc and do the top up. if you are using the car redimix coolant there is no need to add water'
I felt that the MotoCool was better. Even the Castrol coolant costs Rs 250. I didn't know I was running on Castrol when I felt that it was heating up a bit more than it used to... very tiny bit. Upon speaking this up with the service manager he said they too felt that Castrol is not as good as Motul and that Castrol was used in my bike - about 500ml that time when they replaced my radiator under warranty.
The fan exists to switch on to cool the radiator when the temperature goes beyond the cut off temp - is it 103 dgree celcius?. My bike's fan kicks in if I idle it for some time or if I run it in tight traffic. It still takes more time to kick in than what my car's fan does. It doesn't come in when I run it at a steady speed even if I do 110 or 120 KMPH for an hour.some of you guys are talking about fan coming on. what do you mean?you mean the fan getting switched on. my fan operates on a daily basis.

I had to top up coolant just at 1st service. After that its still running strong! More than 1 year done, and the level is still okay. I keep worrying when the level drops.
I check the level with the engine running (after a ride) and it seems fine! I have a 1l bottle of Motocool lying around...
You get the point?? :D

dont check it with engine running , leave it for a while to cool , put it on main stand
and then check .
1 yr , will definitely need a top up.sigpic

I remember seeing&discussing about that dent on your tank.
Where did you get it painted? Not Siraj? Coz Siraj did a great job twice or thrice in matching shades for my metallic brown Verna. I felt he can easily match the blue too.
As for Com Paint, I have used it twice on my Esteem-DIY is pretty simple&shade matching is perfect, just keep in mind not to spray from too close, else you will ruin everything. Use a little rubbing compound&wax polish after sometime, else it will remain rough.
There used to be a dealer near Sterling/Skyline theatre earlier, but not anymore-he was not making any profit out of it. You need to get it from Bangalore/Chennai-we got it&used it for my friend's grey Indica recently.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Chances are that you have been riding the rear brake i.e. you have been keeping your leg on the break peddle while riding the bike. I have noticed this with a lot of bike riders.Originally posted by buggy View Postthats really great i had to change my rear at about 4.5k
so not coolOnly a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

I wanted to know if there is some special coolent used for the R15 or can we use any of the coolents used in cars.
Actually I drained the coolend of my swift this past weekend and refilled it. I'm left with more than half a litre of coolent wich im thinking of using for the R15. Can that be done ?Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.
