    • Ah ok, the reason I spoke about the after market disc pads (and ofcourse the ones that come from Yamaha branding but are sold hell cheaper) is that they usually belong to a batch rejected as it doesnt match the specs. Hence its advised to scuff it up a bit, saves usa good 800Rs :P

The rear wheel explaination is kinda cool-quantum-science stuff! Why would you want to have a bend even if it were slightly on the axle! Wouldnt that be super risky at cornering?

        Oh no...
Not bending it..its like the axel should be perpendicular to the line of the wheelbase right..? but the deflection causes it to sway away from the same line..whats required is to bring the axel back to the perpendicular line. This takes time if I do it on my own.

              yes yes, exactly!!
But I had issues even though the no.s were same on both the sides...so I removed the wheel completely, and reassembed it back again, ensured
              that the no. were same.

              • ^^^ The correct way is to set the slider numbers the same both the sides. But the disck brake calipers unit itself is moveable if we loosen a bolt that fastens it to the swing arm. You need to adjust that.

BTW, this is needed if the alignment of the calipers unit is not matching.

Any disc brake setup, the pads are in mild contact with the disk. Always. That is the way the hydraulics control the pads.

wow, thanks for the info in bold,
I knew that some contact is always there, but it used to really restrict the performance which slowed down the accelaration. Didnt try to take it to top speeds in this condition

Heard of the saying: learn from other people's experience???.

And as far as trying goes; I think 22 years of riding experience with over 5,00,000 kms, a open competition license and having ridden almost everything from RXS 100, RXZ 135 5 speed, TZR 125, TZR 250 (reverse cylinders), RZ500, CBR 1100 XX Blackbird, ZX12, R1, R125, says that I have been 'trying stuffs' eh ! Oh... just forgot to add TZ 250

Its not that I don't want to try other bikes, its just that my best friend who is in U.K. has a Yamaha showroom and his weekend bike is guess what: a TZ250 (there is a race track 10 minutes from his house) . Whenever I visit, he rolls out the red carpet..... This time he has promised me a OW01 in mint condition .

If I understand you correctly, then i had this issue at around 10,000kms not sure..and to be precise about the issue, it was only the noise..the mechanic did something and it was gone, no lubrication required.
