Hmmm! If you remove the improbable then whatever remains is the fact; It is highly improbable that oil is leaking from somewhere (you would have noticed), it also highly unlikely that your bike was burning the oil, that leaves only one possibility: OIL EVAPORATION.

but it dint happen again.. i got the oil changed thrice since then and measured the drained oil each time...

@krishkanth - you can take it to any paint shop, and ask them to match the color first.. they can do a few sample sprays for you. Better to pick up a broken fairing piece from the svc and then experiment on it.. Then they can give you a exact finish.. but matchin can be done, no issues.

Thanks man, but can i retain the design lines and the R15 font after the paint job??

Mileage

HI GUYS ,

Good to see the owner of Yamaha r15 ,

guys i have few questions on the maintainance of the bike , can you please suggest ,

I have completed 11000 Kms on R15, my bike gives me a mileage of 25 to 35 , is there a way to improve mileage?

Ok guys

I bought 2 bottles of Petronas 4000 this morning costing 260 bucks , will start using after first service till 1000 kms and then shift to Petronas 5000 ...

Smell of the oil is like a bubble gum and i felt like drinking it

Ok, was it the semi-synthetic oil that you refilled & checked? Because I faced it only with Yamalube/Motul 5100T.

Hey, the black isn't looking bad! You probably want a different colour so it contrasts with the seat and gets the cowl noticed, but black sorta adds some mass at the rear... Think about it.

Probably the oil could not keep up with the lubrication demands of the engine. And I am not certain, but using a thicker grade oil is better (just for the R15). I'm feeling the difference.

Mileage depends largely on a lot of parameters, some controllable, others not. Here's a quick list. Add something if I miss it:
1) The Engine oil
2) The air filter status.
3) The tire pressures you are running, and how often you're checking them.
4) The throttle hand. Try not to grab large throttle. Keep it around 6k rpm.
5) The traffic conditions, heavy traffic/slow moving commutes will be fuel consuming.
6) Clutch usage. Avoid using excessive clutch. Just use it only when its needed.
7) Tappets. Probably worth looking if all else fails. Depending upon when they were last adjusted.

Racing Stand

Hello .. Evryone ..

This thread is the most informative on the Internet for R-15 owners.

I have today ordered a Racing Stand for my New Yellow Colored R-15.
for Rs. 1600/-

Does anybody have it ? How good it is ? Plz give a Report.

And whats a good (not very expensive, cuz i dont have too much travelling on my R-15) Engine oil available ... say Rs. 400/-

I think i might go for Yamalube or Castrol Synthetic one !

^^ rather than the racing stand, you couldve gotten the main stand of the RX100 and the stand bolt. Its a direct fit on the R15, and works well too.

its very very difficult to ship oil as its a liquid but give me a day to ask around

My racing stand will be landing in another 2 days , i prefer it over main stand as i don't wanna add extra weight to my bike , its quite user friendly ...

I suggest you too for Petronas 5000 fully synthetic oil costing just 300 bucks .. its a wonderful oil and lasts upto 3k kms !!

I am using Castrol Activ 4T and the engine is smooth than before. My bike has done 2400kms and i still haven't changed the oil filter and also i still haven't lubed or cleaned the chain once...

Haven't tried Castrol Power 1 mobil.. Is it worth guys???

There is two sounds coming from the engine when the bike is in neutral and is clutched and declutched.. is it normal with you all?

Also, I dont know I somehow feel the grunt in the lower bands... it sucks.. i have to rip all the way to 6k mark to get something out of the engine? IS it NORMAL for R15...

No issues of mileage... its around 38kmpl...
In the 3 months of usage.. i had 2 accidents...

That's my report on my "scarlett" (for my bike being Red)
