    not required, AVOID stationery running

The only other thing that I would like to note is the fact that the chain requires a lot more looking after compared to a chain that is fully enclosed.
beg to differ here, just oil it every 500kms and it should do fine

    • Yeah How do I do that in crawling traffic during rush hour of Mumbai??? Switch off every 30 to 40 seconds!!! That cannot be the answer. The cooling system should work irrespective of the speed at which the bike is moving and the amount of time the engine is running. Anyway as I said earlier, the problem seems to be solved. The fan kicks in when the bike is stationery, can feel hot air through the air scoops.

Precisely my point. With the fully enclosed chain I did not have to oil every 500 Kms.

      • Ive been servicing my bike with Orion Motors so far. Mainly because its easy for me to get to office from Madiwala where (Orion is located) than from other parts of town. Initially I was not happy with their service (got the bike re-washed 4 times on one occcassion) but over time I have noticed that they have improved. The biggest problem which they face(and every other service centre in Blore) is the number of bikes that they have to service on weekends. The best thing to do is give it on a weekday & they will do a good job on your bike. Orion included

          • The guys at Factory Showroom and workshop are pretty decent lot. They are polite and work at a pretty decent pace. The shop floor is neat and they have all the right tools. The problem is the number of bikes they deal with everyday. Ultimately the pressure to deal with more number of bikes is affecting the quality of workmanship.

On the other hand there is a dealer in Andheri, he is obnoxious and rude, he seems to think that selling bikes is more important than attending to owners of bikes with problems.

Heres what happen: I have fitted LED turn indicators on the bike. One day I notice that one of the lights is broken (must be the bike parked next to mine). I go to the dealership in Andheri to find out if they have any available. The salesman present informs me that since there are none available in the showroom I will have to try their workshop (which is about 5kms away). I request the guy to call up the workshop and find out if there are any available so that I dont have to make an unnecessary trip if they are not available.

The salesman agrees and is on the phone calling the workshop. Suddenly, the owner comes into the showroom and is asking the salesman what is he doing? When the salesman informs the owner about my problem, the owner tells him to put the phone down, give me the workshop number and ask me to call the workshop. Further he tells the salesman to look after sales and where ever someone like me comes in to just tell them to go to the workshop. All of this right in front of me as if I am not there

There is a lot of talk about engines being made here. Nothing in magazines or from Yamaha themselves.

I don't understand why it should make any difference? It is still a Yamaha and it is still to the same specs, its not detuned or anything.

How does it matter if the engine is made (or rather assembled) here or abroad???

                  • Guys,
can we adjusst the settings on suspension of R15, Like can we soften it a bit?

Right now, whenever i take my bike on a lil bumpy roads, it kicks me on my a** for takin it on such kind of roads. On smooth roads though, it is jus fine.

                      • just got back from Bangalore wheels disappointed .

Took my friends 1 month old bike for a service.

Went there at 9:30 a service guy goes for a test ride and comes back then here's the conversation :

Me : hows the bike ?
SC guy : sir there is vibration the tappets need to be set nut bolts need to be tightened and need to lube the bike it will cost 390/-.
Me : The fuel pump is making lot of noise.
SC guy : no sir this is normal this bike is a FI bike and due to the pressure it makes noise. The ECU needs to set then it will become silent.
Me : in my mind i was giving him hazzar bad words. After 24k kms on my r15 this joker tells me that the fuel pump makes this much noise and its normal. And talks about ECU getting set.
SC guy : Sir you check any bike sir same noise. I checked the other bike and it was an old R15 it was silent.
Me: Boss just wash the bike and give it to me . I will get the work done from somewhere else. when can i get the bike ?
SC guy : Sir we can give it only after 3 we need to set the clearances and need to service it .
Me: I cant wait i have come from indirangar . Please get it done asap.
SC guy : ok sir we can give it to you by 12.
                        Me : ok .

I finally came at 1:30 and picked up the bike. As usual there were stains of water . The lube was dripping on the tyre. I just paid for the oil and left.

I wonder after so much gaali we all give these guys .The SS guys still dont improve. I heard bangalore wheels had improved . but again the are the same as they were before.

Bangalore wheels is striked out of my list . I am thinking of going to some other SS with a camera i want to document this and post it on youtube.

                          • @Navnish : Get the bike serviced for the sake of it man. If you were to make any claims against the bike's warranty they refer back to all the records. In one instance at Orion I had skipped one service and my starter relay had gone kaput. On asking for a free replacement, they told me that I had missed out on one service so no replacement. Then I had to speak to the area manager for a this petty thing!! As though they are gonna service the relay's internal contacts during every service!!

Agreed. But there is a way to tell customers. I feel that yamaha should give these guys some gyaan on how to talk to customers. I feel these service guys need some education. They will be the worlds best tuners / service guys but they should at least give some sensible answers.

My bike just had one free service after that never ever went to the SS. my friend was keen to get that fuel pump noise fixed but in the end its still undone. i don't have access to the fuel pump or else would have replaced it myself. Neway's this Service issue was there a year back and its still there .

New R15 owners all the best.
