Haven't tried Castrol Power 1 mobil.. Is it worth guys???

There is two sounds coming from the engine when the bike is in neutral and is clutched and declutched.. is it normal with you all?

Also, I dont know I somehow feel the grunt in the lower bands... it sucks.. i have to rip all the way to 6k mark to get something out of the engine? IS it NORMAL for R15...

No issues of mileage... its around 38kmpl...
In the 3 months of usage.. i had 2 accidents...

That's my report on my "scarlett" (for my bike being Red)

i feel active 4t extra 20w 50 is better than Power 1 ( regular not synthetic) any given day ...

I will not touch any other synthetic oil other than Motul or Petronas cause both are NOT MADE IN INDIA

the sound looks be from chain as when u press clutch the engine noise reduces and you can hear chain's movement , get it cleaned and lubed asap...

Its true that r15 powerband starts at 6k mark , below that its just a regular 150cc

My racing stand will be landing in another 2 days , i prefer it over main stand as i don't wanna add extra weight to my bike , its quite user friendly ...

I suggest you too for Petronas 5000 fully synthetic oil costing just 300 bucks .. its a wonderful oil and lasts upto 3k kms !!
The centre doesn't add much of a weight to your bike and it's almost negligible . Also it costs only around 750, ask in the showroom . You cant carry the racing stand around. Let me a post a picture for u...

Its difficult to get Petronas in Rajkot, Gujarat .. will try to find though.
The stand will take 10 days for me.

Hey, the black isn't looking bad! You probably want a different colour so it contrasts with the seat and gets the cowl noticed, but black sorta adds some mass at the rear... Think about it.

Probably the oil could not keep up with the lubrication demands of the engine. And I am not certain, but using a thicker grade oil is better (just for the R15). I'm feeling the difference.

And thanks for the links man.

Mileage depends largely on a lot of parameters, some controllable, others not. Here's a quick list. Add something if I miss it:
          1) The Engine oil
          2) The air filter status.
          3) The tire pressures you are running, and how often you're checking them.
          4) The throttle hand. Try not to grab large throttle. Keep it around 6k rpm.
          5) The traffic conditions, heavy traffic/slow moving commutes will be fuel consuming.
          6) Clutch usage. Avoid using excessive clutch. Just use it only when its needed.
          7) Tappets. Probably worth looking if all else fails. Depending upon when they were last adjusted.
Black doesn't look bad but i think red will look more appealing. Thats what i thought!!!

          • Chain Cleaner & Lube

I have just completed 500 Kms and as per the instruction manual which recommends cleaning and lubricating the chain, I purchased a MOTUL Chain Cleaner Can (400/-) and Yamaha Lubricating Can (Dry Type 1400/-). The service centre (kamla Yamaha, Parel, Mumbai) guy Rakesh who is most helpful and a genuine biking enthusiast and knowledgeable guy mounted the bike on a racing stand and did the needful. The lubricating can is imported and is used on the R1 did wonders as far as chain noise reduction and operation goes. The dry type lubricant basically lubes & coats the chain so as to not allow dust and particles to settle on the chain and later become slimy - typical problem which will be faced when using the wet type of lube. The racing stand is something that I recommend to any R15 owner without which it is very difficult to perform even basic bike maintenance. In case you do not want to purchase the cleaning & lube cans, the service center charges Rs.100/- per chain clean and lube.

JD meant a 'temporary' RX100 stand. Its not attached with the bike when you ride, and its much cheaper, lighter than the racing stand. Also with the racing stand you have no means of elevating the front wheel assembly for removal/puncture repair, but it can be done on the temporary stand.

Yeah, on depressing the clutch, the sound changes. Normal.
              Power 6K onwards, Normal.

See first reply, the temporary stand is anyday better than the racing stand. And is the lube being officially sold by Yamaha or have you managed to procure one can?
              You get the point?? :D

                    • A thought struck me after going thru the D.I.Y thread : Has anybody tried fitting the rear wheel hugger from the CBF Stunner? With a little mod, I think it should be possible

First service at 500k = 5 lac Km , how... how????

About the groin vibes, maybe a protector will help, I mean tank protector of-course......

Seriously, there should be some gap ( about an inch or two) between the rider and the tank, see any good book for riding positions...

Sorry, could'nt resist that...no offence meant

                        Cheers,

                        Shr.

                          • @hifisharu - this was exactly something that i was thinking when i saw a stunner up close today.. it can be installed....

@svj - thanks for the explanation. the temporary stand method is what the svc people use when they need to work on the front, or work on an accidental machine.
