So there would be two services required with-in the first 1k KM's? first at 500km's and next one at 1k KM's... ??

I am typing from the manual. I have the manual with me now.
Notice:
At 1000km of operation, the engine oil must be changed, the oil filter cartridge or element replaced, and the oil strainer cleaned.
[page 5-3 from the manual.]
The service warranty record starts with 1000kms/30 days.
That means 1000 kms or 30 days which ever comes first.
This is exactly what the service guys told me at patny Hyderabd too when I took delivery of mine.
Basically what the manual says is- first 500 kms under 5000 RPM.
Once, you cross 500 kms one can cross and stay between 5000-7500RPM.

Exactly a year ago I had got my R15...
Its been idle since December 25th and had clocked some 27K KMs then...
Then a series of pathetic service issues from a 'dealer' Paras Yamaha...who screwed my bike, rebuilt the engine and dented my tank, gave me a new tank and all and now finally the bike is sluggish.... and am doing the second run in (infact 250KMS already done yesterday)
Good news, the bike is almost new!
New Tyres, New Chain Sprocket, New Clutch assy, New Tank, New Block and Piston ... and a new confidence on Yamaha...
Currently the bike is back in the factory shop as I was not satisfied with the work that the dealer gave, so the service head west adviced he would check and do a complete overhaul of the bike...

...the manual doesn't specifically mention so but my SVC guy told me to get it serviced once I reach 500km and then the 1k mark. To add to that there was FREE SERVICE COUPON ALSO...
If you read previous posts in this forum, one of the senior members had suggested that the running-in actually takes place in the first couple of 100kms so its always better to go in for an engine oil change with the filter cleaning..maybe i'll post the link if I can find it.

This is even more so confusing!! so guys, do u recommend to giv it for service tommorow (@500kms') or wait till i complete 1k Km's of go the middle mans path, and get it serviced at arnd 700 or 800 Km's??Comment

okie this is gone super confused issue now..... as per the Manual it says first service to be done at 1k mark.... rpm level for first 500kms should be 4.5K and then for second 500kms, rpm it should be not more than 7k. But the real question is are owners of R15 found a new way of engine break-in by going for early service, or is it just for the sake of it.... as the company claims 1st service on 1k...but riders what do you recommend. And if you recommend service before the 1k mark kindly explain the pros and cons of it
