Is it? That's great enough a news for me. You mean to say that 130/80 would fit without any alteration to the current swingarm settings? Would you have any pics of someone who's got it done? Coz I see that the gap between the tyre and swingarm is hardly a centimeter or so.Originally posted by darkknight View Post@killerkp:a 130/80/17 profile fits on std. R15 alloy easily.
There is no need of swingarm modification for this tyre even with a new chain sprocket set.
This is an obvious case of misinformation
Actually what we were discussing of in my earlier post is fitting FZ's Rear Alloy + 130 size tyre, coz the rear alloy of FZ is 4inches wide versus ours which is not as wide (Again.. coz the wider alloy gives a sportbike like look without hampering the performance). {Just look at the neat and clean work with such a killer sport-bike look
to drool over it gives...but i'm just not convinced myself about the 13K pricetag
} My personal opinion..Yamaha should make it standard factory produced part! If R125 and FZ16 can...so can R15 for sure...keeping both Track and urban usage in mind!
Anyways i'd be keen enough to wait and see some pics of a 130 size tire fit in R1-5 without creating and hinderance in the performance.Last edited by killerkp; 12-26-2009, 08:50 PM.

I thought he wanted a basic tool kit. Tool kits should be based on ones' skillsets and how much work you are willing to do on your own with your bike. If he is going to anything more than air filter cleaning, oil change, chain adjustments, I agree a more elaborate tool kit is required.Originally posted by jd666 View PostGo thru the service manual and see what all tools have been used specifically on your bike. that will help guide you to make a tool kit for your bike.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

How will the performance wont drop even after shoving in a heavier 130/80 profile.
Fz alloys weight more too.
Maybe thats a michellin Pilot series but is it good enuf in gripping the road or in cornering or many other factors. And is it of the same weight as the MRF 100/80 soft rubber, really?
Though It would be great if they pamper the tail light, thats a must thing!
And the bike SURE looks HOT!!!!
Btw..wait till 5 Jan dude, many Surprises for us on that day,..

Ok guys enough speculation of new R15 and mod talk!!!
What has the R15 taught you in terms of riding?
I learnt clutchless shifts which i just couldn't do on any other motorcycle and now can do on almost all and smoothly,
cornering and leaning till eternity comes(though i consider to be below avg but way better than what i used to on 'zma & P-180), though peg scraping is regular on Fazer
And the art of braking, superb

Its just like, feel it to believe it! The Pilot Sporty is Really one of the Lightest tires around.. Specifically built for Lightweight Small Scooters and Small bikes...till 125cc Only! Moreover its got the Magical Silica compund which is the reason for the Galorifing success of the bigger 'R' Series! It really is at par (if not lighter) to the 100/80 MRF Tire!Originally posted by Shanz View PostI cannot understand man..

Just a question... I'm 5'-7" high and weigh 53Kgs only. That means if I ride R15 without any pillion, I'd get better mileage and better torque feel (due to less load, as most people are ~70Kgs)?
On a similar vein, it seems riding the bike with tank full increases the load and hence reduces mileage (say I ride with 5 litres instead of 12); what's the take on that?Last edited by agnivo007; 12-27-2009, 11:33 AM.

you weight 53kgs only and say if i'll be riding R15 the machine will have to pull 25kgs more, so this "less" 25kgs will give you better power to weight ratio, as the machine has to haul less kgs, this in terms gives you better torque and PS across the rev range...
as the machine is also carrying less weight you can ride it in one higher gear required that results in same engine speed at lower RPM that gives you better average too..
full tank of petrol disturbs the weight distribution a little bit as on full tank you have almost extra 12kgs at the front which shakes on the leans, which may give you a slight disadvantage at you balance front but not much...The Magician"

Friends, please help me. I have recently given my R15 for 4th free service. I told the mechanic to adjust the tappets. He told that it was fine and no need for it. But now i observed one thing. During engine idling in neutral, when i hold the clutch fully, the engine sound is fine but when i release the clutch fully i noticed that the engine sound gets rather harsh. What could be the reason?2009 YAMAHA YZF-R15

. Certainly looks like you have learnt a lot!! But its what you are going to learn now that is going to be interesting. Soon enough you are going to learn that those clutchless shifts are going to send the gearbox to an early graveyard
!!!
Clutchless shifts in theory sound very cool, but you need to get it right every time, get it wrong and you are hammering the gearbox. Alternative, since the gearbox is a syncromesh one, you do not need to pull the clutch all the way to disengage the engine from the gearbox, develope a habit of using the clutch with 2 fingers, thereby leaving 2 fingers between the clutch lever and the handle bar, notice that it helps you shift more smoothly. The added advantage is that since you are not depressing the clutch all the way, you will get significantly faster gear shifts, without any danger to the gearbox.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Also i really dont understand what is the use of learning clutchless upshift and downshifts for normal commuting
. Could any one explain to me ?
