Also the ergonomics are quite a bit more radical than the R15. After the ride I really understood why Yamaha didn't choose to bring the R125 and instead selected to develope a new 150 c.c. bike.

With the general perception over here is that the R15 has power stacked in the upper mid range and people keep complaining about how little power is available at low rpm, then the R125 would be totally unacceptable in our market. The fact is that any 125 would need to sell in volumes to make it worthwile for Yamaha to bring it to that market. It is due to the tier licensing norms of U.K. that such 125 c.c. bikes are popular out there.

    • @killerkp:a 130/80/17 profile fits on std. R15 alloy easily.
There is no need of swingarm modification for this tyre even with a new chain sprocket set.
This is an obvious case of misinformation

Look at it from my point of view..
Reducing the price from almost 2.30 lakhs to 80 thousand buck's is simply impossible.
Thats why even I seriously doubt the launch of 125 in India!!

and i really fail to understand that why do guys complain about low power at lower revs, no sports bike makes power below 6k
Because we Indian never ever rode any desi Superbike or Superbike Replica!
We had been given 220, RD350, Karizma, RE and all these bikes have enuf torque and pulling power in every gear and through out the whole rpm band.
So we actually never knew the soul characterstic of any Supersports.
Now when we have Supersports and we compare it with already available bike's we find the torque less, so we complain.
It will take time to understand the characterstic and behaviour of a Supersports, because not all of us are that lucky to go to U.K. or U.S. and ride the hell outta these bikes.

Ever wondered why it is so expensive a bike? No exotic materials have been use/ nor is it an extraordinary performer. All said and done, other than looks, it has nothing more (in terms of performance) compared to the R15.

It is the tier licensing norms! Imagine that you were a new bike rider, in the U.S. you could get a learning license and buy any bike of any capacity, infact most people start out with a 600. In the U.K. you cannot get anything above 125 c.c. Hence, a market has been created for exotic 125 c.c.s, where people who start out by buying the max c.c. that they are allowed. Also the taxation part is quite high over there.

But still paying huge dollars just for look's is un-understandable thing!!
Btw..if am given choice in between 125cc's then I would love to pickup Aprillia Rs125 rather than better looking Yamaha R125.
There's no use of a thing which will take you from point A to Point B in a simplistic commuter fashion and will turn some heads. Instead covering the same distance in sportier way and turning lesser heads is my Pik.

23k Kms. The sprockets were fine but the chain was damaged, it had become tight in some places and loose in other.

Two very different machines meant for two very different types of riders. The Aprilia RS 125 can make 33 bhp in unrestricted form where as the R125 is restricted to 14 bhp. In U.K. you can ride the Aprilia RS 125 (unrestricted) provided you have passed the Category A Test for Standard Motorcycle License whereby you are restricted to 33 bhp for 2 years (after which you can ride any size of bike). The R125 is meant for people who have passed the Category A1 Test for Light Motorcycle License which restricts power and size to 14.7 bhp and 125 cc. I will once again repeat what I said earlier, the tier licensing norms of U.K. have created the market for such bikes.

guys help me out please...i have lost most of my tools and now am looking for a nice basic tool kit for my bike.

can someone recommend me any tool kit?

P.S-the tool kit should have tools to do jobs of normal service like changing the oil filter, etc.

                            You may try the Yamaha Service center. However, if you want to put a basic tool kit togeather I would recommend the following;

                            1. A screwdriver (both phillips and regular)
                            2. A set of spanners (check the size of the nuts on the wheel assembly.
                            3. Spark plug spanner.
                            4. Plier set (flat and pointed)
                            5. WD40 Can.

Thats about it and you are ready to go.

However, I personally have the following added in my kit (which I don't carry on the bike):

                            1. Impact Driver.
                            2. Socket Set.
                            3. Allen and hex drivers.
                            4. A multi wrench (an extremely useful tool)
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

There are no specific tool kits (there will be sets of spanners or bits available). Atleast not that I know of. Once in a while some bike shops abroad do put something togeather on their own and sell it for a special price.
