The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

stick to the original tyres for god sake!!!!Originally posted by krishkanthr15 View PostCan anybody please suggest me good tyres for the R15 as i am unable to get stock tires. I want a slightly bigger tire but it should be light and doesnot affect the performance, handling, etc.
YAMAHA has put in lot of R&D to get this near perfect tyre and chasis combo. The Magician"

Put the 220's rear tyre if you really want that fat look. No need to remove the chain cover too. But obviously the stock tyre is best for the bike's handling&top end.Originally posted by krishkanthr15 View PostCan anybody please suggest me good tyres for the R15 as i am unable to get stock tires. My last service was also at 9K kms. I got the rear disc pads&oil filter replaced, tappets adjusted.Originally posted by tibby View Post@All: My bike is due for 4th service (9k kms) tomo..

12K service has a few extra pointers, like Santa&I were discussing. Its a bit tough to get the SVC guys to do that. I couldn't, he did.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

I am not bothered about looks Sarvajit. I considered the 220"s tyre but is there no other alternative like the IRC,etc..Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostPut the 220's rear tyre if you really want that fat look. bro dont you think 220's rear will be too broad for the R15, plus the extra weight will also hamper the handling (my thought).
and will it require a rim change???The Magician"

IRC has a 130/70/17" soft compound but that poses problems to the chain cover.Originally posted by krishkanthr15 View PostI am not bothered about looks Sarvajit. I considered the 220"s tyre but is there no other alternative like the IRC,etc..
Of course thats what I was saying-there will be more weight on the rims&overall the handling, stability&top end will reduce. But no need to touch the chain guard, it has enough gap.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postbro dont you think 220's rear will be too broad for the R15, plus the extra weight will also hamper the handling (my thought).

Was wondering, isn't 9k too early for oil filter replacemnt? My bike's odo reads 8.5k right now, thats just 7.5k since the 1st oil filter replacemnt (done at 1k, 1st service). wouldn't 12k service be more apt for oil filter replacemnt?
Also, reg tappets, it seems fine to me right now.. Should i get it adjusted despite?

I changed my oil filter twice under 10K KMs
1) @ First service
2) @6K Kms when I flushed the engine and replaced it with Full Synthetic oil

Oil filter is to be changed at 1st service i.e., 1000kms.&then every 10K kms.on the odo. I knew I was not going in till another 4-4.5K kms. at the 6th free (9K kms.)service, so got it changed then.Originally posted by tibby View PostThanks guys!

Manual states tappets clearance check&adjustment every 6K kms.but if yours is fine, I say let it be till you can feel the sound even in idling.
@satyen&renny: Yes, that is true-DK can confirm it I guess. What went wrong with his judgement was his chain adjuster was on the last step&it had reached the end of its life. When he checked with that setting, even his 120/90/17" tyre went in, but on replacing the chain kit, it didn't fit anymore.
He also states that the clearance is ok max upto 120/80/17" which is the P220 rear tyre spec.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Hmmm.. & the tappets? IIRC, you've got it adjusted atleast once.. When was that (ODO reading)? & was it preventive or they had become loose?Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Postyou can delay it till 10k no sweat,

EDIT:
I'm confused! Was it 9k Service (4th Free Service), or 9th Free Service (15k kms) ?Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostI knew I was not going in till another 4-4.5K kms. at the 6th free (9K kms.)service, so got it changed then.

& I think I will leave the tappets untouched for now.

That actually means that 130 could go in ONLY in the last step for the chain tensioner, which also means that I will 1) be useless soon and 2) Impossible to do on standard setup!Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@satyen&renny: Yes, that is true-DK can confirm it I guess. Yeah I lost count actually! I did it first @8K which I think was 3weeks after I took my bikeOriginally posted by tibby View PostHmmm.. & the tappets? IIRC, you've got it adjusted atleast once.. When was that (ODO reading)? & was it preventive or they had become loose?
