@surbhit - great find. yes it does explain the basic principle, but what we do is rotate the wheel and let it come to a halt by itself. then it is checked at random positions if it goes back to the original position. But this explains balancing very well.

@ Satyen - Don't stop untill you get answers from Yamaha for all your questions. I mean not the diplomatic ones.
Also this could be due to the mistake of service centre. don't leave them both. If there were problems with piston, then it would have showed in the oil when they drained in for clutch repair. Do update here man. Its is really painfull to see the service quality of Yamaha
only pages back some one was claiming that yamaha is the best, now i wonder what to tell :-)Last edited by GP_freak; 01-16-2010, 05:26 PM.

I'm fine man, had every thing on...
Even then I broke a toenail through my woodlands
going OT, srry.. back to topic
12k Service is quite important isnt it guys? We have to change some filter element and get a few other things done if I'm not wrong. Done 10400 kms. (If u guys think that it's too early for me to be worrying abt the next service, I am riding this bike from early september 09 till date, so I think its justified)
Please suggest a good synthetic oil apart frm Yamalube. I was thinking of Petronas (KP anna... listening?). What do you guys use? Have been using Mineral till now. Should I first use semi synth and then shift to synth or will it be alright if I transition to synth from mineral directly (in the upcoming 12k service)

I stopped visits to the service centre a long time back. A service to these mechanics is nothing more than a water wash and oil change. If you are lucky you will get back your bike without any scratches and all parts in place. In my very first service, I found most of the stuff missing on my bike and in the second a super scratch on the fairings.(Lost count of how many fairings I have replaced) The managers at these places do not support customers, instead the mechanics. I have seen many R15, Fzs being dropped on the road and inside the SVC.
Any missing parts on your bike post service, no probs, just inform the guys, they without hesitating or thinking twice lift parts right from a newer bike and plonk it on yours. Happened to me a lot of times. A SVC which services bikes like the R1, MT01 doesnt even have the basic tools for the trade like the FID.
I remember, the manager telling me , "Sir , we have never opened up an R15 before, yours is first, so all original settings and tuning will get lost"... Goddamn!!Detecting a faulty radiator fan relay takes 3 days, patching up a puncture..dont ask. The new R15 owners are confused with options of either a synth or semi-synth oil. God knows what else happens once we leave our machines for service. These guys have a learn a thing or two from the TVS SVC guys. A class apart.
Sorry for the OT, didnt mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but only those of the SVC guys.Last edited by karthik_R; 01-17-2010, 06:16 PM.TVS 50 XL -> 125 XXL : TVS VICTOR GL : YAMAHA R15-S : YAMAHA FZ1n :: KTM RC 390

@TnT: 10.4K kms.done pretty quickly!
Sorry to hear about the damage...what happened exactly?
As for the parts replacement, check the manual, it says air filter&spark plug replacement at 12K kms., oil filter before itself at 10K kms.
As discussed with Santa&others, there are a couple of other things to be done at the 12K service too, like suspension&steering bearings greasing, but its tough to get the SVC guys to do it. All the best!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Buddy did you try warming up the engine a bit? As in try riding for 15-20km and then try for the top speed.Originally posted by Amrit View PostGuys, few pages back, i mentioned about my bike, unable to reach high speeds.....
As per your valuable responses, today i made 3 speed runs.......
details fallows--///
1. Started flat out....shifted gears at or above 10k rpm..... i managed to reach 125-126 kmph....not more than that.....
i also had my friend on a p220 dtsi, who managed to reach 142 kmph on the same stretch of the road... though he likes to flaunt about his bike..i am unsure whether he reached this speed....
2. This time i only managed 120 cause of slow traffic....
3. For the third run my focus was diverted as I told my friend to race along with me....... while shifting on to second gear, missed it, was on neutral & revved hard....
Later shifted to 4rd gear. while looking on to traffic, forget to shift....red lined the rpm band......
Now i was on 6th gear & managed to hit 129kmph. but braked due to traffic.... This time i was happy that the bike almost reached 130 mark.
* There was a truck ahead of me....when i attained 129 kmph. I thought that due to its wind resistance, i managed to attain more speed. Is this possible?
Should i try the speed run again??? or go to the svc?????
I know this is a long query////..please reply......& help the person in distress.....
thanks...
As far as i remember you can easily touch 109 when you red line in 4th gear (I did this by red lining in all gears from the start) and clutch-declutch once or twice and then up-shift to 5th gear and start pulling.
This will help you in getting you more than 129.
See if this helps.
i weigh around 80kg, so if you are less than that then that is another +1 for you.My thoughts...
