Its just that am not able to digest the fact that the engine broke down with 29k on odo. And do stick to the original set up:-) Can save you from troubles.

@- All : I am now using am RTR 160 for a weeks time now and i am sort of hooked up with the clutch response of the RTR. The R15s clutch engagement is so soft. Any guys felt it ?

Got a call from Yamaha.... the clutch assembly and the block piston being replaced under warranty and a penalty impossed on the dealer...
Spoke with the service incharge for west who said that the lubrication in the R15 engine is a bit 'different' and hence the issue due to the drilled clutch.... I guess that was a saving grace note... Engine breakdown (in mycase) was due to the service issue man, otherwise it was very much allright...
        Sticking to stock now....
He he he +1 on RTR... Chalk and Cheese!

Edit: Navnish... this is what happened

              • Second service bugs...

A week after the second service and the bugs so far (apart from the fairing screws which i tightened...).

                1) The steam kettle type high hiched continuous sound...you have to take your helmet off to hear it...this has been written about before...its not the air intake sound that makes dogs run away...why does it happen and what's the solution??

                2) The brake light is on without pressing the brake...i have to press the back brake 3 or 4 times to make it go off...I'm getting paranoid about this and always check it every now and then...thought its water or something and it'll go away in 1 or 2 days...but no...anybody else faced this??

                3) Fairing screws..tightened them the day after the service...

Gwad..i hope yam opens a probiking centre in every major city..

                    1) Usually the Chain or front sprocket sound... identifying a 'sound' is not really easy.... is there an RPM where you encounter this sound...

                    2) Check the brake lever (RH) and check for play in it... try releasing the brake (pushing it outwards lightly) and check if the light goes!

                    3) Dont overdo this!!!!

                    4) Probiking = Bajaj.... equally bad if not worse

                    • Head light query

Guys i've got another query regarding the headlights for R15.
Is it like that the charging of the battery depends upon the coil?
I know this is a very noob question but based on these small queries i'm trying to devise a setup for better headlight.
I read in a thread where in people are putting a 55w bulb in place for a 35W in P200 and they are replacing the charging coil with that of Avenger. So does this means if we put a heavy coil the battery will be able to take the load?
                      My thoughts...

I have the same sound. Its from the clutch housing. You will find it disappear on its own&then come back too.
Solutions are: 1. Replace clutch plates, pressure plate, bell&housing (bell not available yet)
                        2. Dismantle&take the housing to a lathe&get it ground a bit (Santosh can guide you with this)
                        3. Ignore until you require clutch plate change.
                        I followed no.3.

                        2) The brake light is on without pressing the brake...i have to press the back brake 3 or 4 times to make it go off...I'm getting paranoid about this and always check it every now and then...thought its water or something and it'll go away in 1 or 2 days...but no...anybody else faced this??
Faulty brake switch. 2 options again:
                        1. Open up the switch, grind the wire terminals a bit.
                        2. Replace switch.

                        3) Fairing screws..tightened them the day after the service...
                        As Satyen said, don't overtighten.

                          1) the Hissing soung your talking about...is that coming up all the time...i mean irrespective of whether the bike is on or not..? and does it happen once in a while or is it continuous 24hrs?

2)Do you have to tap the front break or the rear brake? I had trouble with the rear brake which kept the light on all the time.. so had to tap it few times. When I checked...there is a small screw near the master cylinder of the rear brake, through which the cable for the bulb passes through. I dont know whether i made it tighter or loose but it worked. If its with the rear you can try this one.

                          3) I dont know..but I think thats common everywhere. I always tighten then when I bring it home. the guys are the SVC just dont seem to listen. Regarding screws i always check all of them after bringing it home. even the tank screws and Axel nut. You can never say where Human error might strike you.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.
