I apologise dude...didn't mean to hurt you in anyway...was just kidding around
btw...since its only the 2nd service you can stick to yamahlube. The yamaha service centers themselves have more options of same Yamahlube engine oils of different grade. Theres 20W40 and 20W50. the second one is costly (near 385Rs excluding taxes). the 20W40 is less costly (near 245Rs or so).obviously the 20W50 grade is better but the difference is not noticable on city road.
You can check out Motul Lubricants ..im not sure how many of us have tried it. btw...incase you get a chance...please ask some one about valvoline lubricants. I would prefer the full synthetic. had that once for my ZMA about 2 years ago...and gotta say its unbelievably smooth.

Suggest you stick with mineral oil till about 5k Km, then try semi-synth on your third service...

            • @R-series: Yamalube has 2 varieties: 20w40 is mineral (Rs.220 a litre)&15w50 (Rs.425 a litre), which is semi-synthetic. They are good upto 1.5K&4.5K kms.respectively.

@athulpillai: I would reccommend semi/full-synth if you are into touring.

                thanks for the correct Saravjit...
got any information on yamalube fully synthetic oils and the price if possible.

No Yamalube fully synthetic oils available here buddy. You might wanna try Motul 300V 15w50 fully synthetic or Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w40 (both around Rs.750-800), or Petronas 3000 4T 10w40 at Rs.350 odd Rs.
Visit the Engine Oils thread for more info.

I would suggest not to do such stuff on R15 unless u know what u are doing. Easier alternative is get HID's.

With HID or higher wattage bulbs there occurs the issue of battery drain. The battery becomes over loaded with high beam on and radiator fan kicked on. You press the horn and its very feeble.
So i was just thinking on the line of minimizing the battery drain by faster charging.

HID will not cause battery drain if used properly. Higher wattage bulbs will cause.
The HID's are 35W just like your stock bulbs. It is only during powering up that they take more power. After fully glowing they just take the same power as the stock 35W bulbs. It is advisable not to switch off & switch on them regularly to avoid battery drain.
Firstly i advice u to get a bigger battery atleast till u get the perfect setup. After that go back to stock battery. Post your queries in one of the light threads alongwith the bike's electrical wiring diagram. They u may get more help.

My 2x35W HIDs work good for non stop 2 hours of hi beam riding. I am not sure if you really need a new battery....

Please note this is highway riding, and the battery keeps charging beyond a certain RPM.

If you intend to use HIDs in city riding condition....

When the battery can sustain the 2x35W halogens in the city then it can easily sustain 2x35W HID's as well. Only thing to keep in mind first let low beam turn on & then shift to high beam & give it a few mins to stabilise.

Battery charges even at idling rpm but at a lower rate when compared at higher rpms.

I said a new battery keeping in mind coil rewinding, new RR etc. What if the stock battery fries accidentally while experimenting?

IMO if you need to use two HIDs blasting to full glory in city condition, then you deserve to be bashed up and thrown in Jail

I dont know of one good excuse to ride slow in a city with two HIDs on High beam
