Congrats on the new acquisition dude,

Treat her with care in the run-in period, keep the rpm under 5k till 500kms and 7k till 1000 kms.. Then see how it will treat u back

yes, the use of central locking system will void the warranty.....Though it'll not affect the battery much...
I had one but now i have removed it after i heard that someone's ECU went kaput due to a short circuit.....That guy had lost his warranty and had to shell out money from his pocket....

      • similar thing here, got my r15 this thursday. can anybody give me the price of the r15 engine oil drain bolt. this sounds stupid. i didnt use a ring spanner and the aluminum bolt couldnt handle the regular 18" wrench and an edge just broke.

(i think the r15's horn is better than i thought, some members told that the horn is too weak for city use, but mine (stock) is really good! does 2010 r15 has new horns or something like that?)

one more thing guys, while i was changing the oil, i found plastic chips in the new oil can!. it was yamalube mineral 20/40 and yes it was sealed both inside and outside and still it was leaking!

thankz... one more thing i wanna ask is...is there any limitation on the speed on which i should ride the bike (rpm under 5k)... because a friend of mine told me not to exceed 50 kmph!... but usually the bike goes upto 60 in the 6th gear(under 5k)...
God left this place a long time ago..

No limitations on speed, only rpm matters. So maintain <5k.

WTH! The edge broke while you were doing it or while the SVC guys were doing it? & BTW the drain bolt is size 19mm, not 18!

Even bigger WTH is plastic in engine oil! Return it and get a new bottle. I have no idea how plastic gets into oil, unless the bottle is getting eroded from inside!

Uhh can we just stock tires like that? They dont become hard or degerate over time? Coz I wanted to stock up on a few sets, but thought otherwise because of reasons mentioned!
                You get the point?? :D

i think the plastic got eroded from the inside as you said. i thought yamalube was good stuff!

                  • Tyres can be stocked, if kept in a cool place. Using adequate tyre powder. Also they should not be kept unused for more than 3 years.

same thing happened with me,first the airbox screw broke while removing it,next engine blots stared to chip off,so i bought a full ring spanner set.
yamaha must be using very cheap quality screws

                      • damn right anirudh, i dont know what yamaha had in mind, weight savings or metal expansion problems, the original engine oil drain bolt is actually aluminum. that thing wont withstand an open wrench. so bought a ring spanner yesterday.

yamaha is also selling api service sl oil for r15 though the manual recommend api sg. is that going to be a problem using sl rated yamalube mineral oil which the svc guys says is better. i dont really like yamalube stuff but until around 5000km i also doesnt want to switch brands.

Can anyone tell me if there is any specific purpose behind the coloured line that runs along the circumference of the tyre????

                          • After lot of roaming around, finally got the tires. The front set superbly while the rear does not. The beading does not properly set and does not hold air. The guy fixing the tire says, its an issue with the tire. Am afraid if the rim cud have been affected. Any one faced this issue before?

I got the tire from MAS tires, Chennai about a month ago!

                            • Im sure he wouldve tried everything, but try overcharging air to 50-60 psi and then releasing to see if it sets well.

                              • @Apar : the front will go in without any probs. The rear needs some circus. I spoilt my rim's paint trying to replace the tires at almost every reputed tirewalla shop. Finally got the job done from a guy near hebbal. He changed it in 5 mins flat. Hope your tire beading is not cut after all the drama, I almost got mine.

You cannot try overinflating the tire as the air simply would escape through the beads which have not 'seat'.
