U understood most of the things wrong. Let me make it simple.
    1. What bulbs does the R15 use? H4 or H7?
    2. When low beam is on only left eye glows & when switched to high beam both glow right?
    3. Do u need a dipper badly?

Its a wrong notion that HID's without projectors are waste. Projector only give better spread when used as low beams. They are not great for high beams. Get a 4300K HID. U wont attract cops.

    Simple setups:
    1. Keep stock lamp or nightbreaker for low beam & get HID for high beam. Use low beam in city. Use high beam on highways. U cant use dipper. It takes time. No cop trouble at all.
    2. Use HID in low beam & use your stock bulb or night breaker in high beam. U can use the dipper. Dont have to shift to high beam at all. Good for city riding. Focus the low beam low so u wont attract cops.
    3. Use both the HID's. Use low beam in city & high beam on Highways. Enjoy the bright world. U can switch to low beam & then back to high beam for dipping. The best setup.

Upto u to decide the best one for u. When u can afford the HID's no point in coil rewinding done & all.

      • 9k service + engine oil review

Done with the 9k servicing. Got the following things done
        1. Change the front and rear disc pads (the brakes had become soggy)
        2. Centre stand installed (about time !)
        3. Oil filter change (to happen at 10k)
        4. Engine oil change (to AGIP full synth)
The total bill came to Rs 3903.

Here's a break up of the bill, dont know what the items in bold are or if they were required (uncharacteristically I didnt check the bill properly as I needed them to make a couple of changes to the bike during delivery) could someone shed light on them ?
Brake pad kit front - 609
Brake pad kit rear - 991
        Main stand - 512
        Spring torsion - 111
        Shaft main stand - 50
        Split cotter pin - 1.5
Element assy oil cle (oil filter I assume) - 383
        AGIP synthetic oil - 551

Visit the Engine Oils thread for more info.
I shifted the Castrol Power 1 Racing at 4500 kms and then to the Motul 300V 15w50 fully synthetic at 7400 kms & now to the AGIP 5w50 fully synthetic at 9300 kms. Just to give you an idea of my daily commute, it involves going from Koramangala to EC which means doing good speeds (110 +) every day with limited city traffic. However between the 4.7k - 6k odo reading I was restricted to pure city riding.

Quick review of both (am no expert so .....)
        1. CP1R - Cost 750 bucks. The engine was smooth for the first 2000 kms. After that there as a noticeable drop in smoothness over the next 1000 kays. The engine was really making the need for a change in engine oil known.

        2. Motul 300V - Got this based on really good feedback from fellow R15ers on xbhp. The first 10 kms I was really disappointed with it as the engine felt more rough than when it was on the CP1R. Did a few high speed runs on the ring road and felt it was money down the drain. However in a day or two I realised how wrong I was. The bike was brilliant on the 300v and gets a big thumbs up from me. What I hear is that it is well suited for R15ers who do high speed runs regularly (again, I cant back it up with proof, just word of mouth ) The only downer being the price - a whopping 895 bucks. Ouch ! Unfortunately ran it for only 2k kms before I gave it for servicing & since I had to change the oil filter at 10k I moved to the AGIP 5w50 fully synthetic.

        3. AGIP 5w50 fully synthetic - Just done 5 kms on the bike so am not in a position to comment. The bike feels smooth. Will have to see how well it performs in comparison to the Motul 300v. Cost - Rs 551

The prices have gone down? When I had gone a couple of weeks ago they were quoting Rs.680&1110!

Yes, those were put onto mine too, the total was around Rs.750 IIRC.
Get the Glady's rubber under the silencer if they don't have the R15's.
Stand works well, but spring makes a different noise from other bikes, a clanging sort of.

You are quoting price from a SVC, and seems like he is quoting price from a Pro-SVC.... and ofcourse both are bloated prices

Upto you bro...even if I'm using only in city I prefer a longer drain interval of say 4-4.5K kms. for the semi-synth against 1.5-2K kms.for mineral.
Considering the price&life both are double, it works out to the same either way!
Since I'm done with the free services, I don't need to go to the SVC too often now.
