My Love letter to Yamaha!
Just wanted to share my 'experience' with Yamaha
Time to oversize the bore and get bigger pistons and high lift cams.....Hello XXXXXX,
Firstly, greetings of the season!
I am not sure if you would remember me from our last interaction, but nevertheless wanted to highlight some complaints to you. I have a R15 (MH04 DX 7565) purchased from Paras Yamaha Vasai. The bike was purchased on 14th Feb 2009 and has clocked about 26000 KMs. The experience so far with Yamaha service has been nothing brilliant.
The latest being a clutch plate replacement, that led to my piston seizure.
What the service centre did say to the service in-charge for west is that I ride my bike a lot, and all so let me take the opportunity to tell you what they obviously didn’t say or let Yamaha know:
1) that, my bike undergoes a service almost on every weekend! For the last one year…
2) I was asked to replace the entire clutch assembly (and not the plates, for a simple issue of having some play on the clutch housing)
3) I went back to Yamaha Pro shop myself (a good 40KM ride) and got the entire assembly myself as I knew it was anyways due for an overhaul
4) Your service centre mechanic advised and drilled holes on the clutch housing for ‘better’ clutch lubrication. I understand this is a standard practise on some of the 2strokes, but mighty unaware if that’s the case with the R15s engine as well
5) They used the same engine oil again and again after every time they fixed the assembly and were not happy with the result, leading to mixing of oil (they did this about 4 times) and possible depletion of oil.
At about 50KMs from the SVC, while I was on a bike trip to Rajasthan, the bike broke down. I am surprised that the bike lasted for 50KMs in heavy traffic conditions, also surprised that the engine heating indicator didn’t turn up!
Engine oil was the first thing I checked, and to my surprise I could empty a full one litre can of oil into it which only took the bike to adequate oil levels. So is Yamaha suggesting that the piston consumed the entire oil in the engine? Pretty amusing if you ask me!
As predictable, after 3 weeks Yamaha has denied my warranty claims on two grounds
1) That its clocked 26K KMS
2) As per a comment from a TVS ‘star’ mechanic (the owner has two showrooms) stating that there was some noise when he test rode my bike, this is also amusing! I would rather take my bikes to the TVS SVC from now!
To cut the long story short I don’t really care whether or not you do it in warranty, but I need the reason\confirmation for the following points on a Yamaha letter head:
1) Reason for the piston seizure
2) Reason for the Engine heating indicator not turning up
3) Confirmation that the clutch housing needs those holes, and if that’s the case why doesn’t the stock spare comes with them as default
4) Reason for rejection of my warranty claims
Rest assured, you have definitely lost one loyal Yamaha customer…

I dont know man, I am confused with the relationship
There are two options!
1) Get the bigger bore and stuff
2) Throw the RTR engine on it and continue with the works on making the RTR a small cute cuddly monster!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

@jd666--some light please on chalk marking method,
the chalk marking method is to take your alloy out, and then put it on the assembly local rim and spoke repair/replacement guys use.
-make sure the base is level ( use a level gauge if possible).
- Rotate the wheel gently, and let it come to a complete halt. Put a chalk mark at the lowest point ( at the centre).
Then rotate the wheel again.
- If the wheel comes to halt at the same chalk point, then thats a heavy point on the rim. start with a light weight like 5 gms or so, and do the roll again, till the chalk point comes to a halt at any random point on the rotation.
- additional weight can be added to balance out the point further, or there could be another heavy point once the weight is added. So if the wheel is coming to halt at a same spot again and again after adding the weight, then there is a heavy point there, so repeat procedure again.
Note - this is a time consuming process, and you need to be patient to do it correctly.
This is applicable for rim and spoke type wheels also.
Also some tyres have a light point ( where the tube nozzle or rim nozzle should co-incide.
Lemme know if it helps. or should i post it in a separate thread.
I would suggest get the bigger bore and high lift cam and rebuild your engine mate. Should cost you about 12-15k for the similar spec Diasil cylinder, with bigger piston, rings gudgeon pin etc, and a high lift cam. It will increase cc to about 162cc, adding 1-1.5 solid bhp of power.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostNo no, just send it.... will update the replies

I appriciate your efforts dude...but honestly im having a hard time understanding...i've never seen the wheel balancing done in front of me...so dont know what kind of setup your talking about...Originally posted by jd666 View Postthe chalk marking method is to take your alloy out, and then put it on the assembly local rim and spoke repair/replacement guys use.

thanks a lot...I ll surely enjoy my trip if my bike gets in good condition..Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostRemove front sprocket... clean and refix it the other way around..... clean the chain well and lube it well as well.. and ofcourse enjoy your trip!
to whom did you send your complaints in Yamaha? I am planning to write a long letter to them too. Loose parts , clutch plate gone at just 700 kms , bad service , no available spare parts , and now this unknown sound coming out of the bike. My bike has just clocked 1240kms as of yet..lol.
1 more thing . i had to replace my clutch plates at 700kms. that should come in warranty, right? i was made to pay 2.3k rupees . Moreover the svc guy here charges extra as labour charges even for sticking the tank-protector(cost of tank protector is rs.700 and he demands rs.800).
whom to complain all these ?sigpic
