The rusting that you see is quite normal. As for the screeching that might be due to dust present on the pads. There are a number of brake pad cleaners(spray) available.

If its first service, there isn't much to do. The bike's new and will just need an oil change, oil filter change and if you feel the need an airfilter cleaning. You can also tighten all the fairing nuts and screws, lube the side stand and give the bike a good wash.

I dont know if its ok to post this here, but I have a DIY thread running on Orkut. Its in an R15 community. Digislayer is a part of it. If mods or anybody wants, we can start another thread and I'll re-post everything on xbhp too.

When you wash the bike, do you clean the discs? If not, you should. Use a little bit of Zorrik spray on a rag, clean the discs with that, then wash it off with water. That should do away the rust.

As for brake pads, even my rear pads squeak all the time. Its just because of dust. I clean them, they go noiseless for 1 week, and the squeaking starts once again....

i should turn spanner to left side when sitting to the right of bike correct? or do u do something else
Any nut, screw or bolt uses the same rule. In its holder clockwise is tightening it, anti clockwise is loosening it. You cant open the drain bolt from the right side of the bike. The exhause runs underneath and blocks the spanner. You have to sit to the left, use a 19mm spanner and turn it anti clockwise.

        but WHERE ARE THEY??
There's one principle I follow. If it aint broke, dont fix it. If you're not having a tappet problem, dont get into the mess of adjusting it. When time comes, yes, open the head and learn.

one more thing...when is the right time to change the oil filter??(my bike has done 5000 km)

and about the coolant...i just have to fill it up or is it like engine oil ie get the old one out and put the new one in??

can anyone give me a link from where i can download R15's service manual?? as i lost mine.

how to clean the air filter...with a brush or cloth or something else??

i tried to open the tank to see whats underneath but i cant seem to get those 2 big pipes off...should i drain out the petrol and open all the screws which connect it to the tank??
Whoops, all along I thought you were attempting 1st service. If the oil filter has been changed at first service, then you dont need to change it till 10,000 kms. Its written in the manual, but unfortunately I've lost mine. Both the air-filter and oil filter need changing at either 10K or 12 K kms.

For coolant, just top up the coolant. You dont have to flush the old one out unless there's dirt in the system. Use Motul's MOTOCOOL Expert. costs 310 bucks.

Service manual isn't available I guess. Do it Yourself!

Its a paper airfilter. Take it off, tap it lightly on the ground to get as much dust out, then use compressed air from the other side to blow the remaining dust out. I dont have an air compressor. You can use any ordinary inflator or a vaccum cleaner's blower function, but its not that effective.

Let the pipes be. Remove the tank bolts, turn the tank clockwise and rest it on the top of the twin beams of the chassis. You can access the airbox then.
        You get the point?? :D

        • thanks svjhonda

yeah i can try that...after opening the tank bolts i will let my friend hold the tank in air and i can get the air filter from the box out.

i dont think they changed the oil filter in any service so m thinking of changing it

should i do anything to the spark plug??

          • Now my bike is nameless...Some a&#hole flicked the R15 sticker from the left side panel! I wonder why he would do that...The sticker is not available separately either. How much does the side panel cost? Any cheaper solutions?

The cost of the side panel is Rs.365.
Yes the stickers are not available with Yamaha guys. You can contact any after market guy for the same. Let me check anyone in Pune has one.

The graphic of the new R15 is the same but a bit smaller. No sticker on the left headlamp as of now. And yes no rim strip too Dont know why Yammy has done this to its true racing color.

                        • Guys, yesterday again I went to the SVC with my chain noise.
They have applied some wet type chain lube a week ago. This time they said that there was form formation of some kind of locking in the chain And now it is gone because of the wet type chain lube applied last week.
But for me if feel that the noise has increase. When the bike is switched off in the slope, the chain makes a huge noise. Also as soon as the bike slows down, a different type of sound comes which is somewhat like ‘tak-tak’. Guys please help me in this .
                          Guys please throw some light

Yes it's been left stock as before without the extra headlight sticker/rim stripes etc which is how a performance enthusiast would like the bike. No nonsense...
