Getting broader tyres/wheel! will reduce the initial and top end drastically, unless you get the weight propotion adjusted by cutting weight elsewhere(I don't think so but still).Originally posted by Sandy1437 View Posthai guys.im planning to buy a new r15.bt the matter is that is there any chance to change the rear wheel to a broader one.if so plz tell me the specifications of the broad wheel.
JagwarPaw has mounted FZ tyres on the R15, you might want to ask him for feedback.
If you're not a speed junkie then you may!
Else
Better buy the FZ16 and get race kits installed(ECU+HLCam+Exhaust should give you some fun).
To maintain an R15 well you need to do some wrenching by yourself(atleast know the basics), else you are a bakra at the nearest service center.

We dnt have "Standard Circuit" here in North India,.Originally posted by R-series View PostWell the kit is for closed ciruit use. Dont know what you mean by standard race tracks but yes, we do have racing tracks down south. Even with the complete performance kit...there is no way it can come close to the Ninja 250 at this stage as the kitted R15 goes near 150 - 153 kmph on the speedo...while the stock 250 Ninja does 110mph = 176kmph(provided that we get the same 250 Ninja thats on the Kwasaki website and not any downgraded version).
Kawasaki 250R Ninja (2008-current) - Kawasaki Motorcycle Reviews
So unless its being used in competion against other 150cc bikes...i dont think there is any use of it being used in city conditions.
So I have to drive a whole of 2200kms just to visit a closed Circuit in South..
And Standard Race Tracks meant Circuits equivalent to Moto Gp standard!
So are we having any CIRCUIT eqivalent to Moto GP standards???
I just talked bout the Initial Pickup [ Kitted R15 around 7.5sec for 0-100 whearas Ninja around 6.4sec for 0-100] and power delivery in every gear [Ninja having a bit longer gear ratios and more power in last 2 gears]...
Ninja definetly takes the lead in Top whack..
And minding that thrs a huge 100cc diffrence in both the bikes..plus ninja will be technically more advanced in some terms!
So am really satisfied with a Kitted 150cc mill performing this good though we have to pay a huge amount for that!!..

YES! u can change the rear wheel to huge 140/80 17" with some swingarm mods [sorry I am forgetting the real figures]..Originally posted by Sandy1437 View Posthai guys.im planning to buy a new r15.bt the matter is that is there any chance to change the rear wheel to a broader one.if so plz tell me the specifications of the broad wheel.
And its USELESS!!
The tyres of R15 are SPECIALLY made by MRF ..with soft rubber compound, specially grooved and sized in a perfect ratio..
Why??
Soft Rubber Compound Glues the bike on road and stablize it..[though it wears quickly]
Grooves give it extra punch and grip
Size prevents the bike from being Sluggish and makes it More Mileage providing..
So if you change to wider tyres following will happen to ur bike..
*Very Sluggish Initial Pickup!
*Slower Mid range power!
*Top speed deliberatly reduced!
*balancing seriously disturbed!
*mileage ruduction like hell..
*overall performance disturbed!
*breaking affected..
*and bike will look seriously beautiful..
So if u ask me and the fellow owners..than mine suggestion is STICK WITH THE STOCK TYRES!
Still if you want to change the tyres go for MICHELLIN 110/80 17" SOFT RUBBER COMPOUND..
With minor change in performance..

Front would be as it is..as the guy said..Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View Post^^ Err.. braking affected by using wider tyres???
Braking will improve, not degrade!
The braking can only improve when one will place the rear stock on front..
As the wider rear meant much heavier rear..meant more force required to stop the rear!
Plus harder rubber [as we have rarly any options in soft rubber compound tyres] meant lesser grip meant lesser controlled breaking!
I had ridden on both the tyres types, one R with stock tyres as u all kno breaking was gr8!
Another one with IRC 120/80 HARD RUBBER rear and 100/80 front..
The front was even more responsive and the rear breakin was degraded by folds..
So overall the breaking DEGRADES!
I hope u understood

I am seriously furious with the Yamaha Dealers of Nepal, called up at showroom to ask about the new R15 arrival, they said Brother! Fazer is in town....and I was like...who's this guy?... I asked them about the arrival of R15, they said that they have atleast 15-20 R15 in their godown so until and unless they sell at least 80% of it, no new bike will come... I was like... what the ****
I am so frustrated that I have given ultimatum to myself... within next week if I dont get any signs of New R15 arrival... I will go for the fastest indian (Pulsar 220 DTS-i) or rather wait for New ZMR...and will never in my life buy any Yamaha Products... and trust me one unsatisfied customers attracts 5 more unsatisfied customer... and I have a very strong convincing power by making them avoid Yamaha bikes in the long run...
Are u reading this Morang Auto Works ... You have less than 7 days to give me the sign of its arrival... otherwise good bye to your cheap strategy..l.----------------------------------------------------

I agree about the service and sales of 'Y' is poor but this has not stopped the love of any owner for the R15.
When u r in love witha gurl..u dont see her entire family background and start loving her....its a love which just happen and this is the same case.
If u really like R15 then u have to bear this now and after too(during service period)
All R15 lovers....Am I right???

Like one my friend said when his parents were looking for matches - "I'll marry a beautiful girl. I am not in love with anyone. So I have choice."
If you are not in love with the R15, the puny, odd bug like looking, underpowered and expensive bike and have to wait very long for it, you'd better check other options.

Use Motul Dot4 at Rs 250 for 500ml, if available.
We didn't change the brake fluid so far. How much did your bike run? My bike's brake fluid level didn't change yet. I am planning a complete replacement of brake fluid at 21K KMs service. Currently my ODO reads 18K + something. The brake fluid is waiting to be used.
