I would recommend Yamaha's company showroom in Malad. They do it well..if they dont, they listen..otherwise you can make them listen..and the feedback goes straight up.
But dont just walk-in, you'll need to take a prior appointment. I got a 2 week waiting for my last service!

Has anyone fitted custom grips/extra grip on the handlebars?
Also has anyone installed a seat cover for their R15?
If yes, please post some pics.

+1 to that. I am planning to fit some custom grips on the handlebars otherwise there is way too much travel while wringing the accelerator and that results in a wrist pain if you ride for a long time. Need some good grip covers that will look good on the r15. Any suggestions ?

I dont think there is any difference between first lot and subsequent ones. Mine too is from first lot. And i dont think there arent any engine parts that are made here in india, they are still got from indonesia, If you check the battery...even thats from Indonesia though its a TATA Green

Except tires, plastic and bulbs...rest all are imported.

@Wheel_Spin: I am not having any wrist pains, but have pain in the palms area, that too only when there is a weight of 55-60kgs.on my back, which forces me to rest on the handlebars. That is the only reason why I am thinking of handlegrips-otherwise I am pretty satisfied with the stock handlegrips.

@HydBiker: Got anything suitable for the seat cover?

@All: Is the saree guard of the FZ&R15 same? Can a ladies' footrest be fit onto it? Has anyone done this? If yes, please post pics.

One more query: Have any of you heard a 'tick' sort of sound when the bike is switched off&cooling down? I know it is the catcon, but I checked Vibhanshu's bike&it was sounding very feeble. In mine it is audible even from several feet away!

The R15 engines are still the same as the first lot. Not sure what categorizes into first lot thing but mine too was from the first month itself.

But my R15 rev limiter cuts off at 10.5K RPM. As such, why worry abt it when the FID tool shows that teh rev limiter actually comes in at 10K RPM

Didn't check that.... will check it soon.

BTW, Tata Green is in tech collaboration with Yuasa, USA. All the R1's and MT01's I've seen have Yuasa batteries. The Vixion also comes with a Yuasa battery in Indonesia... I don't deny that Tata Green may be exported to Indonesia but why would Yamaha procure them from Indonesia when Tata Green is being made in India???

Use gloves.
Yet to find good material for seat cover.
Leave some things alone. Those tics won't translate any information to you.

Tyre wear

Guys, is there any way to measure (R15)tyre wear (tread depth or something)? my bike has done 9k.
The tyres looks worn out but I dont feel much of a difference.

Saree garuds are different of both the bikes. And I guess there is no need of footrest fitted on to it. Just remeber, I guess no weldings can be done on the saree gaurds to weld an platform kind of thing on it.

And for the tick sound, dint observed it...let me chk

Look on the side walls of the tyre... on both the sides there are small callout boxes with TWI written in them. That is pointing to thread wear indicator. At those points marked at TWI, look inside the thread for three embossed lines. If your tyre wears out enough to expose those lines they will wear out to show you a red colour (can be other colours too) line. When you see the line, even if you can get enough grip, you gotta change the tyre.

Hehe....may be its the other way round......may be they manufactuer it here and export them with made in indonesia tag.

Alright, the tick sound is the catcon confirmed, but it makes excessive noise in my case due to the accessory silencer end cap.

Souvik u will not be able to adjust it urself, u need to visit SC for sure, dont even try local mechanics. There is another SC in prince Anwar Sah road called Ledder, try them, i heard they have good customer feedback.Elce knock me we will go together at kestopur and screw the service incharge.
