Used the Yamalube chain spray-chain looks white now, but original smoothness has been restored for sure.

However, I was slightly disappointed that my 2 problems weren't solved.
1st is an unknown vibration which comes at high revs, any ideas what it could be? Tappets, Fairing vibes, speedo stay etc.all ruled out.

2nd is something which even the SVC guys haven't ever seen.
After the bike warms up, there is a metallic clicking noise which comes somewhere near the rear disc. It comes once in 10 secs.or so&then disappears when parked for sometime. Does anyone have any idea on this?
I am going to get this thing sorted out soon-need to spend a few hours with them though.

Check Tappet, Front Sprockets and the mounts man... they are the chief culprits... were you with the SVC guy when they adjusted the tappet clearance? they bluff a lot and I have seen people just washing and polishing and lubing the bike and giving it back as a serviced bike!

2nd issue is kinda weird... since you mentioned parking... did you check if its not a fuel pump noise?

Btw I won an "invitation".... now what the hell is that?

That's listed after the oil change & bike wash. So it might be lesser than the bike wash... what can it be?

        • Well, If you ask me, the number of invitations are lesser than the number of oil-replacements or free washes. So, it might be the other way round too!

I too won an invitation, got a call from Yamaha head office,Delhi 10 days back asking me to collect my "t-shirt" and "invitation" from Pearl Yamaha in 10 days. And then, I got an SMS few days later saying I got closer to winning the grand prize by winning an invitation which I need to collect from SS in few days. God knows what, gotta collect it soon lol!

Thanks Satyen. I'm with the mech everytime my bike is done. Front sprocket, engine mount bolts&fairing nuts all tightened. Tappet clearance not adjusted as he says its not loose. I will get that checked as well as ask him to strip down the fairing&then examine. Its nothing major anyways.

The 2nd issue is the one I'm worried about. It is nowhere near the fuel pump's sound, it is a metallic click noise that comes near the rear disc, not just after switching off, but while running too. I initially thought it must be the catcon, but when I actually heard the catcon I was puzzled. It is surely something to do with the rear disc/caliper, the mech also feels the same&wants to check it at the next service while he replaces the brake pads. I'm getting worried coz the rear disc is overheating&it can be felt all around the rear right side, even on the rear footpegs. I think I will go to the SVC in a few days time.

the chain was making a wierd sound..the mechanic didnt lubricate it after washing..so immediatly got that done...
moreover the owner of the showroom told me that he'll be recieving customisation parts for the bike ..like end bar wieghts, LEDs, brake n clutch levers, swing arm spools...
two things that i asked him to arrange is the sports type main stand and knee sliders..without which theres lack of x-factor in the joy riding of the R15. Rest is cool..im more than satisfied with speedo maniac from yamaha
even i faced the same chain problem 3 -4 times whenever i got it serviced and would head back home there would be a weird noise all the time so i used to go back to the showroom and get it rectified the mechanic said the chain got loose cause i change gears very fast thats not at all true i change gears only above 4000rpm and he lubricated it and it was ready to roar

Is it a scratching sound? Coz that is a clear indication of the disc pads being worn out.
Mine is by far the weirdest noise anyone has ever heard on the R15.

                      • R15's rear brake pads = Rs 1115
                        R15's Rear disc = ~Rs 900

Availability = both are difficult to get.

So you guys can choose which one you want to preserve

Note the Made in Indonesia (yeah, already discussed) and the charging rate. Isn't this very fast?

And here's what the SIAM says the R15 delivers - 46 KMPL!!! Still gotta get to know the correct info on who tests this and in what conditions.

Is it prob with the R15's rear brake pads? almost everyone has changed it around 6k kms. Has anyone tried using other brake pads?

wearing out of Brake pads depends on usage.I haven't changed my rear pads till 13.5 k kms as i almost exclusively use the front brakes hence changed the front ones at 12k kms.

I have changed my front pads at 12K KMs and rear at 15K KMs. The rear still had some life in them but I got them changed as I am planning for the big trip.

                              • @all.....i think the svc guys are afraid to touch the tappets as they are not trained on the adjustment of the tappets...but i think most us need the tappet adjustment...mine has done 11000kms and no tappet adjustment...i was told it is not needed when the mannual says it should be adjusted every 6000 kms.

can we request the company to train these guys???or is there any othe way that you can think???
