Guys, mine is a week old. Am keeping the revs to 4- 4.5k (touched 5k once or twice). The manual says to ride up to 5k until the 1st servicing. Is 4- 4.5k okay or should I avoid crossing 4k?
Its very tempting, but don't wanna screw up the engine at any cost.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

. I'd say 5k isnt any problem. That's 75 in the 6th cog. But no more than 5k.
My query: how many kms do the stock tyres take for warming up? My fav. lean point comes at around 1.5 kms from my place ........ Do i need to warm them up further or shall i lean away? And i'm talking about early mornings here so she's been standing her ground for about 5-6 hours through the night

Thanks for the comment! I hope SVC don't mind having an extra wire there. I think I can do it myself, just need to explore a bit.Originally posted by svjhonda View PostIt depends how good a relation you have with the svc. They may or may not remove warranty. The connection is simple. When you're sitting on the bike, the right side headlight lights up on high beam. That's because the right side headlight doesn't have a connection for the low beam filament. Just open up the LHS headlight leads (there are 3 pins). So first remove the black connectors on both sides, get a small length of wire and connect the lead (I think its the upper lead, out of the 3 leads) to the RHS side, properly. The lead has a hole in it, so you can wind the wire through it properly, and then attach the black connector back.
I'm sorry, that's the best I could explain. I'm a noob with electricals.
One small concern, this means that the Headlight in RHS (when you sit on bike then on your right side) is already having a bulb with low and high beam? I only need to attach a wire in it so that it will glow.. am I right here?Just R15ing...

Good to know another LE around!
Not sure if this was for me, anyway I'd not be of much help as its just 4 days and 60km on the odo. Haven't been able to notice it, yet. I guess others can help us with this.Originally posted by Parth View PostMy query: how many kms do the stock tyres take for warming up? BTW, another question: On the first day I could see a few black spots on my rear mags (oil from chain). The spots are darker now. It didn't go away with water; haven't tried shampoo/detergent; any suggestions how to keep that part clean? Can kerosene/thinner be used or it would be bad for the paint?

i guess so, because the specification of the bulb says 35/35w i.e. it consumes 35w on low as well as high beam...Originally posted by D Coolest 1 View PostThanks for the comment! I hope SVC don't mind having an extra wire there. I think I can do it myself, just need to explore a bit.

Thanks guys! Thats some valuable information.Originally posted by veyron999 View Postits not a battery problem at all...i face the same issue..i noticed it first when two stupid girls came in my way while walking and were not getting side even when i showed them the passing light, so i honked along with the passing and the horn sounded like that of an ambulance!!
i put this up at the svc..that guy took a multimeter and checked the voltage at the battery terminals..it was well above 13
!!
conclusion - could be a horn tuning problem
or may not be a problem at all..
p.s. have a stock battery (MINDA) not charged externally even once..2months till now.Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@tibby: veyron999 is right. My bike is now 27 months old&no battery issues (touchwood). The battery has never been charged till now&voltage was checked only once&found to be normal about a year back.
The horn tuning problem you are facing, I had it after the 2nd service (pressure wash can cause it). Its very easy to tune the horn-in other bikes since its exposed its very easy, in the R15 the mech will have to stick his hand into the gap between the handle&forks with a spanner. Matter of 2 mins.&he won't even charge you for it mostly.Originally posted by painreloaded View PostThe horn can be tuned by turning the screw at the back of the horn...by turning it in either direction....The only problem is that the horn is placed inside the fairing so it can be a difficult process..Originally posted by svjhonda View PostSimple, take off the LHS fairing, there's a small screw on the horn. I think tightening it makes the horn shrill and loosening it reduces its treble. So achieve the correct setting, with the engine running and the headlight turned on. try repeated horn presses and arrive on the perfect tuning!
I will tune the horn myself over the weekend. I just hope I don't end up worsening the case

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

IMO and also discussing this thing with some of the Yamaha guys at my initial days of R15, they said this soft compound tyres need minimum of 5kms run before warming up. Also the climatic conditions do differ in this scenario.Originally posted by Parth View PostMy query: how many kms do the stock tyres take for warming up? Leaning in cold tyre condition can cause slip offs brother so be careful, I wont suggest it. As it is in early morning the temperature would be less.
Use detergent to move it of, some good rubbing on the mags with it shud workOriginally posted by kunnu@cbz View Post

Bhaiyya, these days I'm literally scared to lean after that slip while leaning on 4th augustOriginally posted by Shivanshu View PostIMO and also discussing this thing with some of the Yamaha guys at my initial days of R15, they said this soft compound tyres need minimum of 5kms run before warming up. , So starting again very very slowly and not pushing too hard. Anyways 5kms of running is doable.....will go for a little detour before leaning practice
Welcome to white alloys' world, they looked cool at the auto expo didn't they? Well guess what, they are a ***** to clean and keeping them clean means washing your ride with shampoo every 2-3 days. The alloys get dirty after 40-50 kms and the muck won't come off with just water. Use shampoo to clean them as there have been issues of paint chipping off from the alloys in R15 and FZ and you wont want to push you luck with using kerosene/thinner.Originally posted by kunnu@cbz View PostBTW, another question: On the first day I could see a few black spots on my rear mags (oil from chain). Investing in a dry lube should help ..Originally posted by kunnu@cbz View Post

I'm using Dupont Teflon Multi-Use Dry Wax as of now ...
My bike survived the Monsoon w/o any issues ... About 2300 KMs done, and Cleaned/Lubed the Chain Twice in this period ..
@ Ownership Experience : The SVC guys have suspended the "Appointment System" for good it seems ... Utter Chaos at Malad Factory Shop as a result .. The Service mech showed me about 100 bikes, which he said were in 'waiting' to get servicing done !
For my Second Service, I was given a time frame of 9 am to 11.30 am to give then bike for SVC, else I would get it on the next day ..
Reached at 11 am, they said, bikes coming in for SVC only between 9am-10am will be delivered on same day, else next day 6pm delivery ... The SVC Manager even went to the extent of telling me tat bike will be ready only by 6pm day after tomorrow !
Had quite an ordeal, but managed to get "Express Service" somehow !
( and NO,i didn't pay no 400 bucks for it )
I've put in a Suggestion requesting them to bring the Appointment system back .. Guess more of them might be needed for them to have a rethink on it ..
The bike is fabulous, No Doubt about it. Hope Yamaha India don't mess up on the Service front though ..

Asked about kerosene as the stains looked difficult to clean; however, today, rubbed the wheels with a finger and it started shining.Originally posted by Parth View PostWelcome to white alloys' world, they looked cool at the auto expo didn't they? Would try the shampoo thing. Thanks!
I'd not mind cleaning this stuff- IMO, white looks very nice... may be, its just my opinion, but I'm simply loving it!Originally posted by ZeNashB View PostThe new LEs with the black rims are way better :P

Yeah, many cities have Servicing issues. Thankfully, my SVC is just awesome. They have good knowledge on the bike and the foreman also deals in superbikes (grey market) and does know a great bit on the R15 itself. He just takes it for one ride and is able to eliminate all problems. The servicing is great too. Always delivered before 4pm the same day if I give at 10am.Originally posted by nirav_j View PostInvesting in a dry lube should help ..
