This is the most discussed topic here...( i think so).
Just clean it with a mixture made with kerosene and engine oil in 1:1 proportion. Just wipe the chain with a nylon cloth dipped i the mixture and use an old tooth brush to clean debris and muck. For cleaning, use SAE 90 gear oil and wipe the chain with a nylon cloth.. that is all. This is applicable to new set of chains also.. Got this info from the chain manufacturer. Rolon.
        Just Wipe.. not to pour.
If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

          • What I do?
Remove the front, rear and slip the chain Out.
Wash it with Diesel. And then Shampoo.
Fix it back .And then Chain Lube.
35k and running strong , Will last another 6-8k kms with ease.

Also check the teeth condition on the sprockets.

+1, my bike has done 45K and sprockets still look like they will last 5K more, but i strongly recommend to clean them on the regular interval.

                  • Review of R15 after 45K on odo, ownership time: Almost 2yrs.

                    Mileage: 42 City 47 Highway

Tyres: Still Vanilla that came with the bike. Replacement required, will do it during this weekend.

Engine: Super smooth, After 30K i shifted to full synthetic oil (Motul)

Sprockets: Vanilla that came with the bike. Replacement will be required after 5K as they are at the last setting.

Radiator: No complains, fan works without flaw, coolant is checked every-month or whenever bike goes for wash (15-25 days interval)

Disk brakes: High maintenance, this things have cost me bomb. Brake pads have been replaced every 10K (Front and back both), Even Brake disc has been changed once.

Electricals: Pathetic quality, i hate them, switches died on me twice, checked and found out that the wiring had some issue. My tail light never works. Once i change the bulb, it will blow out with in 15 days. Have done the complain and service guys have unable to find a solution, since past 1 yr.

Air Filter: This may sound like a joke, but cleaning the Air filter every month will maintain your bike's mileage and performance. It has been changed thrice by now.

Alloys: I don't know what was Yamaha thinking while dealing with the Allow dealer, they are poor quality. Make sure you don't drive fast on bad condition roads. Trust me you will regret.

Thoughts: I am quiet happy with the overall experience with R15, she has been reliable and has been quiet trusty partner on the road. Highway is where she likes to be, open air and she will fly like a jet. I have done 500+KMS stretch journeys, but have never faced any issue of over heating or bike showing signs of stress. The best part of R15 is, she smiles when you redline her, whereas other bikes tend to look stress.
But yes, i have to confess, she is not as rock solid and bullet proof as my previous partner was, "THE YAMAHA CRUX R".

Yeah, thankfully, when I started the bike today morning, the problem wasn't there anymore I took it to the SVC just to be on the safer side and he checked it once and said everything is alright

I am surprised that you have some concerns with electricals, which are mostly fine with many bikes. Brakes, I would say that depends upon usage. Well I am new to Yamaha so can't comment much on Alloys, but that would be case with any of them, if you put them in a big pot hole while speeding.

Yes your are right the seat cowl are not available in the new racing colors. They are still selling the old stock .

Personally i feel the quality of the seat cowl is not worth its cost and only the blue one looks good on the blue bike. The other mix just looks ok and if not maintained well they look bad .

Thanks mate, I think i was unlucky to receive a bike with wiring issues, but as far as Alloys are concern they are not upto the quality we are paying for.
