  • 130kph!!

Stormed to 130kph this morning enroute to office, bike charging like a mad bull - the digits on the speedo were changing to higher speeds without any let up, body crouched flat on tank! Braked at a crossing, smoothly and in total control, in fact have no recollection of how i braked, it was that smooth. No vibes remembered at all.

My previous best, on that same stretch of road was 118kph, and this morning i looked ahead to suddenly find myself all alone, for long distance ahead! Gunned the throttle for all it was worth, and saw 120 blow past in a jiffy before I saw 130kph and braked. 140 kph should be easy, given enuf road.

Wow- what an experience! All that lack of torque on city riding goes out of the window from today!

No matter how many times I fail to impress on others on how this 150cc machine costs a lac, I must admit Yamaha has put in so much thought into this machine. Just the fact that the engine is smooth all the way to insane speeds, at just 150cc is a wonder!

My personal best on two wheels obviously!

    • Me too pushed to 130 Kmph.. But i wasn't crouching above the tank. I sat upright. 125kmph comes easily, but after 125 it lags and goes to 129 and stayed there then it touched 130.. I am 5"6" tall and weighs 70 kg.
What about others... ????? i mean.. about top speed.
If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

      • I have clocked 130 i guess.. But that was just a fraction of second ran out of highways. This was on my way to office .. The bike was rock solid and was planted on ground with zero vibes

And to say am a very healthy person :P.. So a lean and mean person should be able to clock above 135 easily..

As I keep saying, Top speed matters on a whole lot of conditions. Tarmac, Tires, Wind, Tire Pressure, body position, body weight, ascent, descent and what not. So If someone has got a 138kmph or someone hit 125kmph. Be satisfied and don't push it too much unless you have enough road left, and you're sure of no cattle and alike appearing in front of you and etc. I have hit 149kmph after repeated top speed runs. It was 143kmph first, second run was 136kmph or something and in the 4th run or 5th run it went all the way too 149kmph!

146kmph when? where? is it possible? my bike took a lot of time to get 129 to 130.. then i ran out of highway.. i think it will go to 135kmph max... Just my opinion..

              What you guys think???

              • I went to SVC today to get my engine oil changed to Motul 5100.. But they told me the warranty would be void.. I've clocked 2700 KM and it'd be my 33rd service in 20-25 days..

is there anyway to get the engine oil chaged without messing with the warranty?
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

                      • @Sharan_R: Thanks for your reply. I've already cheeked the blog (yamahapricelist) from his signature. There is a little confusion on the blog, the color of my R15 stated as "Vivid Red Cocktail 1" but Yamaha's website says its "Sunset Red". Which one right?

@pranjalshukla: Many Many thanks. Does it come with set or only the stand?

i recommend you to stick to the recommended engine oil by yamaha if you do not want to void the warranty

i prefer semi synthetic rather mineral
bike performs well at semi synthetic
or you can give it a try by putting some mineral

if you use any other oil against the recommended the warranty gets void

Anyway I can get just the stickers of side fairing and get the line removed by repainting or something?
If the damage is little you'll have to live with it. Else you have to change the fairing as stickers aren't available seperately.

I managed 148 a while back, it was downhill and with a little wind coming from my behind to the front. Also, I did 139 while returning back from manesar, and this time we had a lot of windblast + the tyre pressures I was running were 14 - 22 (checked after coming back

You can get the oil changed from outside if you wanna be completely sure about the warranty thingy. Apart from that I've heard of just 1 guy who had engine warranty issues with his r15 and that was coz the svc forgot to put oil in his bike after draining it out
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.
