Wait for 6000Kms, atleast and change your OIL to Motul FS 15W50 300V. Change your oil filter too, and get your air filter cleaned.Originally posted by ZeNashB View Postmmm, I redline my bike a lot. I mean it when I say A LOT. Only when I'm insanely low on fuel and on my way to the fuel station that I dont redline it. It somehow doesn't feel right to be under 7k RPM.
So, Motul FS for me, right? I'm at 4.8k KMs and havn't changed oil after the first service at 1k

My personal opinion would be that You try the Motul SS 5100 15W50 and then pour in the Motul FS.

Is anyone facing issues with refinement? My R15 has gone a bit rough and am getting quite a lot of vibrations right in the power band (post 7k RPM). And by vibes i mean REAL BAD vibes. The service station guys have tightened the foundation bolts in the last (2nd svc) service but it does not seem to be working. Also, my engine seems to be quite clattery near or around 10k RPM. My bike has run about 4200kms. Have been extremely gentle with the running-in procedure and have done two services by now. Would appreciate any pointers.

Is it refinement like roughness in Engine? and Vibrations altogether?Originally posted by ritwik23 View PostIs anyone facing issues with refinement? Where are the vibrations? clattery? Tappets would be the obvious remedy, but 4200Kms is too less for a tappet adjustment.
Nevertheless, try getting them checked. Let me check in the next g2g or if you're coming on Sunday.
I did have a little minor vibrations at 13000kms, but they were around the Front Winshield/Visor and tank. They were done away with. Nothing Major.

.
Do have a look through this thread while you're in the process of increasing your Budget, as it will answer all your answers.
( Search this forum, atleast)
Anyways, on a serious short note
Bike needs to be Maintained. Otherwise, it's not going to serve you well.
5-6 Years? It will definitely be there.
Mileage varies greatly on riding styles. I get a 42kmpl in city, and 48-50 on highway touring at 80-90Kmph at 6th cog.
Value for Money? You Bet!
Tell me, if you can find something better.

Tibby, which service centre are you talking about here ?Originally posted by tibby View PostI haven't got it done either!
Bike is at 16k right now, after 17 months!
I checked with the service manager at the SVC regarding the swingarm greasing, & monoshock greasing. He said he'd charge 250 for the swingarm greasing, & regarding monoshock greasing, he said its no major thing & they will do it once they are greasing the swingarm (with no additional charge for it) as they would have removed the rear tyre for it.
What the service manager said makes it sound like a not so complicated thing, so I'm not sure how complicated it is. Maybe someone else can chip in.
BTW, I will get it greased at the next service.

Regarding your dilemma of choice, please invest some time in looking at the 'Help Me!' section. You will find enough threads asking the same question.
Sane city riding should give you around 42kmpl.
Bangalore Wheels. Have been going there since the last 2 services. Used to go to Perfect Riders before that.Originally posted by neil.jericho View PostTibby, which service centre are you talking about here ?
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Silicon spray for chain
Has anybody used the the silicon spray for the chain? I guess it will help in making it resisitant to dust and water.
What do you say guys?

really??Originally posted by painreloaded View Post^^
go for the oil change in 3rd svc...I poured Yamalube SS in my 1st svc and in the 2nd it was fine and the mechanic recommended not to change it...As for your clutch is concerned, they have tightened it which will result in earlier damage of clutch plates...
then what should i do?
[QUOTE=tibby;505134]1st service is due at 1k Kms. 2nd at 3k Kms.
Using SS, its not really required to change the oil at 3k. Use it till about 4k Kms, unless the oil level/ performance really deteriorates earlier.
hey tibby. what do you think i should do about the hard gear shifts??
as painreloaded mentioned in his last post about the early wear of the clutch plates, im worried...
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

[QUOTE=veyron999;505653]really??

About the hard gear shifts, I assume that you've been using the yamalube semi-sythetic oil. Try the motul SS as clutch plates getting worn soooo early in a bike's life is very unusual (unless you've been pulling up wheelies almost all the time).Originally posted by tibby View Post1st service is due at 1k Kms. 2nd at 3k Kms.

r15 is the best bike in its class in terms of refinement and reliability..it'll last you a lifetime if taken care ofOriginally posted by sameer.sharma View Posthey hi to all fellow bikers....

. maintenance would mainly include getting it serviced at proper intervals, lubing the chain regularly and riding it cautiously and being alert about the "indications" the bike would give you without indicating anything
! all owners would know what i mean..

btw read the forum for other details. go in for a p220 if you are ready to compromise the refinement, vibrations, mileage.
r15 gives a decent mileage of about 40-45kmpl if ridden in city traffic, varying speeds up to about 70 or at the max 80 kmph at times.

wheelies
?? noway!! i'm no stunt maniac. what i do different from most of the riders though is that i down-shift the gears one by one, not progressively. i like it that way and had read it as being a good practice.
and yes im running on the yamalube ss as of now..after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

If you have noticed that there is a nut that is tightened which is directly connected to the clutch wire.. When the nut is fully tight, I mean it cannot be tightened more, then it is the end of your clutch plates...If the svc guys had tightened it to solve the problem temporarily, it is not much of worry...Shift to motul SS in the next svc and make sure the chain is lubed and tightened...Chain slackness is also the culprit in the gear shifting problem..
