So, I'm bugged of riding this moped called R15. Feels seriously slow and no punch although I have done my share of blue printing and improving efficiency. Yes its faster than a stock bike, but still.
I'm getting into some serious business of pimping the R15 now. It will look and sound stock, but not move like one
I'm just trying to slot some time for stripping the engine and doing the next set of some serious mods. Once done, I'll even post a dyno chart of a stock engine v/s mine.
Also will rework on a brand new cylinder head, and lot of other related works which will pump some serious power over the stock engine. A fully tuned freeflow exhaust will also become a part. And a lot more
Damn, here comes the bluemoon after ages..and this's what the first post has to say!

Well, just tell us if you're doing anything other than an increase in CC

    Goodluck for your adventure btw
    Sunny.

                • Hi guys!
It would be great if you can help me out with my below query:

I think this thread is simply amazing..!! You guys have discussed so many things that were always on my mind regarding this bike.. And many more things too..!! This thread rocks (just like the R15)..

I just needed some inputs from you guys on the protective coating one can apply on R15..
I had actually gone to Pacer Motors (in Banaglore) over the weekend to get a feel of the bike before i actaully book it.
Met an R15 owner there, who had gote his bike coated. The bike was shining like anything (entire body, including the balck plastic parts around the tank). The SS guy told me its a lacquer coating, and costs 5,000 bucks..!! Isn't that too much? Have any of you got this coating done on your R15s? Can it be done by oneself, or has to got done outside only? Is there a comparatively cheaper alternative to the lacquer coating?
As I undersatnd, R15's surface is prone to scratches, and hence a coating seems inevitable.
R15 owners from Bangalore, please do chip in..!!

                  • Guys, Got 3rd service done. I have ridden 1500 Km only after 2nd servicing . Tht time I went with Synthetic engine oil. Now I did nt get chance to ride much in ths time. In fact thr was a week, the bike remained idle. Just before 2 weeks I feel the lot of noise and not so smooth while riding. As its raining frequently, I thought its because of dust and sand in chain.
So today wen I reached the SS guy told me not to change engine oil now as it can go another 3k . (I doubt) So did all other recommended stuffs, washed and chain got lubed only. Now when u take the bike after the delivery, the initial 5-10 Km is smooth as ever. Surprisingly nothing such. Thr is little reduction in noise because of chain lubing. But nothing from engine. I am totally disappointed with this synthetic oil. I mean its so costly and it stays only for 1500 Km. Thts too bad !!! Till first 800 Km its fine. But now I am not satisfied at all. Moreover my mileage has been dropped upto 38 from 42-44. I was riding on high rev. with smoother engine.

Guys, I hv a Qs here. Is it because of long brks given to the bike? Anyone tried fully synthetic oil facing such issues? How to know whether oil filter is cleaned or not?

Or is thr any problem with my bike tht I m nt able to figure out ?

I havnt tried lacquer coating. But most of us out here got Teflon Coating which is for Rs 500 for 2 coats. Teflon is pretty much fine. It can prevent minor scratches and fading of paint (most important). Such products are ever changing with new products. So the deeper you go, the better and expensive products you'll find. So initially you can try the teflon coat and then later you can inquire more about others and then what ever suits your wallet. Hope this helps!

Dude! I do not get you. You say you did 1500kms in between 2nd and 3rd service. The mech says you can do another 3K kms. Now again you are raising a question that your oil will do a total of only 1500 kms. Are you missing something? OR You wanted to say 4500 (1500 + 3000) ?

Breaks given to bike will not make any difference. Oil filter is not cleaned. Its straight away replaced: At first Service and then next replacement at 10000 Kms.

What problem are you exactly facing with the bike ? If it is vibration then there are some pics posted by digislayer at page 412, check those nuts/bolts and get it tightened. Visor will always vibrate (more or less).

                        Please explain your query properly.

oh and btw Bye Bye KRP exhausts for now

I got the tappet adjusted post 6k kms.. now on Power 1 Racing.... tomo will plnk in the iridium... the bike now zips nice... but yeah like you said... life beyond 6K RPM here...

(BTW My RTR is back from work... the gears are fixed, will get it tomorrow! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)

The R15 will go under some cosmetic mods for now... simple paint job, thanks to the vandalism it had to suffer.... may be some decal work...

Btw How do you use the FID?
