@vibhanshu. Thanks for the info dude. It sure is great help!Originally posted by vibhanshu View PostI havnt tried lacquer coating. But most of us out here got Teflon Coating which is for Rs 500 for 2 coats. Teflon is pretty much fine. It can prevent minor scratches and fading of paint (most important). Such products are ever changing with new products. So the deeper you go, the better and expensive products you'll find. So initially you can try the teflon coat and then later you can inquire more about others and then what ever suits your wallet. Hope this helps!
I too think teflon should do, but the lacquering on that guy's bike i saw the other day was very nice. It gave tremendous lusture to the entire bike (all visible parts)! Moreover the price quoted by Pacer Motors for lacquering sounded abnormally high, so just thought will check with you guys here.
BTW, here in Bangalore, they charge 700 for 3 coats of teflon. Now, does that mean they will coat it thrice within specified time-intervals (like say 2 months apart), or does it mean all the coats will go in at once itself ?
@All.
Some of you were concerned about your bike not being serviced in your presence. Here in Bangalore, at Bangalore Wheels (for Bangaloreans, its on Dr. Rajkumar Road, Rajajinagar), they have assured me that I can have the bike serviced in front of me. Of course, I should be willing to put in some time for it (it would take about 3-4 hours for the servicing to be done, they said).
So proud R15 owners from Bangalore, you can enquire at Bangalore Wheels for your next service!
Hope this helps!Last edited by tibby; 05-05-2009, 11:49 AM.
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

and the frustration continues
Hi all, again dropping into this part of the thread after a very long long time...
L
The 15 has been sent to Pacer motors after continued dissatisfied servicing record that Orion Motors and Panache has served with.
Below are the problem noted in the bike after 12000 kms of run:
1. Front Disk plate changed for the first time L (a month back) and pads changed for the third time LL (one month back) and there seems to be some alignment problem due to which scratching sound comes and our wonderful SS guys think its dust and dirt stuck inside the pads those results in making that peculiar sound. Anyways have asked them to note it.
2. Engine has gone very very very harsh and gear change returns a hugeeeee thud sound.
3. Chain treatments done couple of times after the 4th servicing but the noise still there, anyways have mentioned that to the SS guys, which I know wont be fixed. L
4. Ignition key holder completely got loose and feels like its broken the bike was not getting locked properly have mentioned that they said they will get it tightened.
5.
6. They say handle bar is even twisted a little bit, was wondering have I come out of a accident or what or is the wonderful Indian roads gift. Also FYI, I have never met with any major accident.
7. Missing neutral big time.
8. Start problem, have started going to gym, anytime the bike forgets to ignite, am ready to push it to nearest SS J.
9. Poor mileage. It returns me 36-37 kmpl.
10.
11. Asked for Air filter changed (never got it changed since I got the bike)
12.
13. Switching to full synthetic this time. Might be that would solve the problem of the harsh engine this time.
14. Rusting noted especially behind the Headlamp and under the fuel tank.
15. Rear shocks have gone freaking hard suddenly, one bump in the road and it will make you remember of sun, moon and stars and if not cautious your balls can go for a dance.
16. Vibrations all around, I am personally not happy with the performance that the bike is delivering after the 12000 kms mark.
Please note above are based on my experience with my bike not a generic view.

@Reuterian
I actually do not see anything very bad about your bike. All the issues are pretty common. Rather many others have faced issues long before 12K mark. Handle bars are not very strong. I had to change the left handle bar just coz a kid in my building pushed the bike from the stand. Even I feel it could be stronger. Chain, oil/air filter, all fine.
Get the tappets adjusted if you havnt got it done earlier. The manual says to adjust it at 6K mark but I had to get it adjusted at 4.8K. So check for that too. Goodluck!Fear is the Trigger!

One more post from ANYONE about this and it'd be ban-a-palooza all around.
Somebody please answer how do you use the FID!
The tappets are insides and are messy to tune, so its but obvious that the cleaners-and-polishers-SVC-so-called-mechs are shit scared of it...... its under the tank....right on top of the "engine block" I am a noob in all this so cant give you proper terms... but if you remove the tank or the side fairing, the block which has the exhaust houses the tappets... 2 for exhausts and 2 for inlets... the clearance has to be 0.20MM for exhaust and 0.10MM for inlets...Originally posted by souvikb83 View Postcan anyone post me a pic like where are the tappets?and how can i adjust them?because the sc guys are not willing to do so and my baby has run 10000kms...i am a novice here...Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Using the FID is pretty easy. You have 2 modes CO mod and diagnostic mode. Diagnostic mode is for checking if all the sensors/relays/ all electricals are working or not . and the CO mod is for changing the CO settings.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostEeks looks like I missed a lot of action

A small update:
8k completed. Switched to Motul 300V 15W50 fully synth oil. The oil is pretty good. Did Bang-Chennai last weekend. Lesser engine heat and smoother gear shifts.
Couldnt change the oil-filter(as suggested by Apar). I ll be doing that this weekend before hitting the track.
Lets see how this oil holds up."Never make the mistake of thinking someone is holding you up;that's racing, and you're holding yourself up." - Keith

The FID is a very important tool and every group of R15 owners must own one. The service centre guys dont have them and trouble shooting becomes a task. Thats when the stupid assumptions arise.
2 weeks ago, my friends R15 was over heating. The engine check light came up and coolant circuit was working fine. The service centre guys fiddles for half a day and could not solve a thing. Then they told my friend its fine (coz the engine had cooled by then) and ask him to leave. I dropped in and I checked the bike with the FID. The diagnostic mode showed the engine temp and I checked for any faulty sensor. The temp rose from 75deg (normal at cold start before a warm-up) to a heady 100+ deg. The engine check light showed up again. The engine further heated up to 118deg and it was almost next to a seizure. Showed this to the dealer and he tried to argue. I explained and then he could not talk much.
The radiator fan wasnt kickin-in past 85 deg temp, hence the over heating.
Checked the fan, it was working...so trouble shooted easily that it was the fan relay.
With an FID you can tell exactly whats wrong and you get a lot of inputs.
That 80 bucks relay could have seized the engine and costed 8k for fixing.Last edited by Joel; 05-05-2009, 05:02 PM.sigpic
