  • Hi friends,

I am new here. My name is Jigar and i am a proud owner of R-15 (I call it blue bird), my bike has done 3800+Km in 35 days approx...

Anyway, i have been followingup this thread since long now, but i still couldn't find a reasonable answer to how we can pump up the power of this small sport bike that we own...

Did any one find the way to flash and remap the ECU here, or may be get a reprogrammed ECU chip altogether ?

My bike gives me an economy of 30-35 km/per liter, and i have done 145Km top on highway (Kissed 147Km but that don't count for me), but i am sure this bike can do better than that...

Please suggest me, if any one has found the way to get extra juice out of this R series blue bird
My thoughts are subjected to personal experiences/internet articles. Please read my comment carefully before replying. :)

I have asked them so many times that they promised me one stand in the next lot. Even without asking, if they see me or if I call them for something else they are telling me that the stands haven't come and one piece would be reserved fro me in the next lot

I'd have complained to Yamaha about certain things but didn't want the SC guys to face the heat because of that! I definitely don't get the best possible service but this is the best I've seen or heard of with two wheelers during the past 15 years.

But Yamaha refers to them the other way round. Dunno who is technically correct!

Check the above diagram now. The Red marked ones are the clutch plates (according to me ) 5 in number, 3 different types and the Blue marked ones are the metal plates 4 in number.

So, the R15 has the same setup but an extra 6th gear!
Clutch plates have that ridge segment pattern on them I think, for "clutching" whatever they're next to. The friction plates are in there to provide various amounts of friction to the clutch plates so the clutch slips a certain amount before clutching finally, so that the process of motion transfer is smooth. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Yamaha has given the R15's transmission four plates of Friction-3, and one plate of Friction-2.(The ones you call clutch plates). So, the plates are still different from that of the Vixion

one end is closed. the other end joins between the air cleaner & the throttle body. It is definitely there on a purpose with the existing design itself and not for something to be added or cutoff in final production.
Well, but that's what Mr.Murthy of Pearl Yamaha told me :P

Once the factory setting are lost, they are lost forever.!! My bike: 4 Months old, 4800 Kms.
My handle seems to be screwed too.. I'm thinking maybe the fork top plate also got affected and that's why we're feeling as if both the clipons got damaged..Will be able to confirm this only after I get my left clipon changed too. Did you get your fork thoroughed?

              • Do the new lots of R15s have stickers near the engine like made in Indonesia/Malaysia? Mine does have it coz it was from the 1st lot.
I heard that localization has started, rather now everything is manufactured in India. Newest R15 owners please check&revert.

                • ^^^ I don't think that the R15's engine part was never meant to be made in India. They didn't do it when they had volumes (initial months) and now the volumes are too low for doing a DAiSil casting & forging pistons here in India.

                  • Hi guys..

For all the years that I am touring on bikes, I never used to carry any major spare parts or accessories along. Amy b coz I never landed up in trouble before. But on my last trip to Ganpatipule, I found a small nail in my rear tyre. Tyre wasn't leaking pressure I kept the nail untouched. But the feeling was very bad riding with a bent nail in the rear tyre. Who knows when the prob starts and wht if I dont get a proper tubeless pucture repair fella in villages and all sorts of doubts. Though these days even normal puntures repair fellas know bout tubeless pucture repair work.

My question is, should I go for the tubeless puncture repair kit for the R15? Is it worth buying? It surely is I guess, but I remember I read on this same thread sometime back, someone saying those kits are of no use.

As long as my knowledge goes, they are good enough for temp fixing and till one finds a proper pucture repairer.

Should I buy one for me guys? I have no clue how to use it. Are there directions given on the package? If no, can someone tell me in short how to use it if my tyre goes flat someday ?

                    Thanx in advance..!

                    • usage is simple.. maybe someone from Mumbai can guide you in a G2G or you can see what the puncture wala is doing once or twice. Just buy the kit. It is not a temporary fix but it is THE fix for a puncture.

Refer to Bike India April 2008 Issue, Page- 38. Its the 'Tamaha tech advantage part-2 (the four parts that highlighted the tech advantages four months before the R15 went on sale). There is line that says: "And these pistons are now being used on the YZF-R and MT-01 sports models made in Japan. And now, in order to achieve the development goals of the YZF-R15, we have set up a forged piston production system in India," explain the engineers.
                              You get the point?? :D

Can anyone direct me to some shop where I can get a good tubeless tyre puncture repair kit?(Sarvajit and hydbiker can help me for sure...guys??) I have noticed a drastic fall in air pressure! Gotto fix the puncture. No shop near my place is equipped to fix the same.
