  • Need help!

Guys! I'm going to book my R15 today.. So, should be getting the delivery early next week
Can you guys please tell me what are the checks I need to do in the bike before taking delivery? (Eg. odo reading, coolant etc.)

PS: I know its a little early to ask. But I'm just playing safe, so that you guys can all help me prepare an exhaustive checklist by then. (as some of you might be able to reply only over the weekend)

Make sure that your documents are correct. I was casual at my time and I had to face the consequences. Those idiots made so many mistakes at my time and I had a hard time later. The chassis number was correct in the TR (temp registration) but was incorrectly printed in the road tax paper. For this I had a hard time running around the RTO. The people at the showroom have the habit of taking the signature prior of delivery. Do not sign anything until you verify with your very own eyes. Dont fall in the crap of "it will be done sir!". Take your full time, relax, have a cup of tea check all the docs. After all you're not anything for free!

Apart from the above, make sure that there are no scratches in the bike. If you find any damn thing then just claim it. Who would want a new bike with scratches. Take a ride and check the brakes as well. Some had faulty brakes at delivery which they found out after some days. Make sure that there are no manufacturing defects.
You can take a guy along who already owns a R15 (not necessarily).

        Congrats in advance

just follow whatever said above -

I was pressurised to sign the delivery receipt even before checking the bike. I told them straight ...i'm cancelling my booking. Then they made me sit for 5mins got me a cup of tea. Now their reaction was different, another guy came, he convinced me, We had a look at the BIke, had a 15min check. Was satisfied, only then i signed the delivery receipt.

yeah i also checked the other two R15's there to select the one with less scratches.

          Yeah congrats in advance...

          Happy riding!

Taking somebody with you who has previous experience of taking delivery of an expensive item is extremely good idea. I had a couple of friends of mine with me, who were more than happy to point out a couple of defects. Surely, I would have missed them. Those guys even helped me taking a firm stand.

                • New mod

Hi guyz i had a new mod done......just have a look...
carbon fibre free flow exhaust. Its not like the cheap aftermarket exhausts that are very lound and make a very iritating sound like phat...phat...phat... instead it is a good one that makes my bike roar like a superbike........also increasing my pikup a little bit...

                        • ^^ the exhaust (does fitting a krp makes one a sensible person ) & the seat does look good ...
the tyres though suck big time & in no way would be good for the bike..

                            Mate, need an honest feedback.

Muffler looks good, but what were you thinking when you installed those rims and tyres ? (golden color) ??
Seat goes very well, but i think you need to do something about those rims. Those rims are the cheapest things available in the market and tyres are just not doing the justice... Remember this is my opinion, others might differ.

                            Peace

Thanks a ton for the help Vibhanshu. I had thought of the engine number & chassis number thing you mentioned! Will make sure its accurate on the papers.

I didn't exactly understand what you meant by 'claim it'. Can you please clarify?

Thanks bro! I'm not going to sign till I'm totally satisfied with the bike!
The showroom guy took me to his godown, and made me select the piece I wanted (out of the 3 he had). Now isn't that great!

Thanks Adway. I will surely try doing that. The only small hitch is that I plan to take delivery on a weekday, but then all of my friends will be busy (at office!).

first time yamaha R series looks like a dirt bike to over hills than to corner at speeds,
2 much time &money on ones hands is can result in this
rear tyres looks straight frm a tractor,i do not see how pick up is increased with those weighing 10 kgs a piece
try to do some performance mods like these dudes r trying to do(like fuel maps & k n filters)
