      • Have done 15900kms and still the tapets are not touched. SS guys always say its fine and never checked it, there was a service engg. yesterday he also said the same thing.
BTW my bike is not clecking beyond 120kmph, can loose tapets be the reason behind that?

          • ^ On long tours, you might experience a slight problem of back pain, as its already an issue for you. But with proper breaks, It wont be too much of a hassle I guess.....
            You get the point?? :D

The R15 is not actually made for touring...I dont mean that it cant be taken out for long rides...but the manufacturers did not consider long rides as an option. People do go on long rides on this bike and enjoy it aswell without much hassel of any sort.

For optimal performance your expected to be tucked behind the front fairing. If your already suffering from a sensitive ower back i wouldnt consider going for the R15. Apart from that the R15 when ripped to its limit, does require strong muscle strength too handle the forces while accelarating breaking and cornering. Specifically for touring the ZMA,P220 or the new Fazer can be considered as better options keeping in mind the level of comfort they bring along
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Think Yamaha is just promoting FAZER as Touring bike only for sales, technically the bike is terribly short geared and dosen't have the relaxed engine properties as that of a zma or 220! Right?

I agree... even though Yamaha has the same strategy of introducing these models internationally (like the FZ1-FZ1 Fazer duo and FZ6 - FZ6Fazer duo) they should have tuned the whole bike for touring if they wanted to promote it as a touring bike in india. The gearing being short would trouble those who know how the ZMA and P220 work as tourers.

but again...ive just fallen for its looks...

+100, i must admit that it's a brilliant looking bike! Anyday better than a zma or a 220 in looks!

                      • Two questions regarding my new R15..
                        1. If the tyre pressure is as low as 20psi in both tyres, is it normal that disc brake makes a small sound..
I cant describe that sound properly, it somewhat like the one coming from an old swing in a children play park..

                        2. After 15 minute ride below 4-4.5 rpm, my engine becomes hot..i cant touch it for more than 1 or 2 seconds..
                        Is this normal?
I'm running it on Essar petrol..i dont know whether it is higher octane..

For 1 - I dont think its normal. Tyre pressure may not be the reason. The sound I think your talking about is the sliding sound of metal over metal without much lubrication. Please correct me if Im wrong.
What I can guess is that maybe the disc pads might be worn out. but its only a guess.

For 2 - I wouldnt ask you to rely on the feeling of hotness of the engine. Cos that would differ from person to person. I really dont want to elaborate. but i just think this is not a much reliable way of judging. Just a personal opinion

                          • Brake pads worn out??
Dude..i bought this bike 4 days back..
I went to the SS and he said it's because of too low tyre pressure..i wanted to ask here because i dont think that guy was too qualified..
And besides..that sound goes when the tyres are filled properly..
So..is it common with other users?

                                1. Try with tyre pressure 28/33 for F/R. Never tried 20/20, & I would recommend you to immediately up the pressure in both the tyres.

                                2. The bike does heat up quite a lot when new, when ridden in stop-go traffic.. Nothing to worry about, except that you can check to ensure that the radiator fan is kicking in when the engine heats up, & that that there is no radiator leakage..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
