    You're welcome.
The chain is better than it was. 5k Kms ago, there were jammed links, & the mech strongly recommended getting it replaced. But I insisted on keeping it stock, & did frequent cleaning & lubing thereafter. Result- There are just 1-2 lightly jammed links now.
Whats your bike's odo reading? Due for replacement due to negligence?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I have 3-4 Jammed links. Did a Night in Kerosene thing. Much Better. I still do notice 2-3 Jammes links here and there. It's 20,000Kms+. No Negligence as such. Regular Dry Tape and Motul Clean!

The links on my bike's jammed due to infrequent lubing, so I thought could be same with your bike.
With proper care being taken, I'm surprised to hear your bike's chain has jammed links. I'm wondering what could have caused the jams!?

btw, Santa's bike is at 40k, is running stock chain, & believe it or not, the chain tensioner is still at 1

I did not do much in Monsoons though. Might be because of that.
And I know he hasn't changed his chain and sprockets. But the tensioner is at 1?? How the... What the... ???

Got my bike's 9th service done today. Odo reads 18.6k Kms.
            Apart from the general service:
            - finally got the swingarm removed, & greased (Rs. 250)
            - chain removed & cleaned
            - both the sprockets removed, clened & flipped (the teeth looked good on both)
            - rear disc pads changed. The stock ones (yes, used for 18.6k Kms) still had life (atleast 1k Kms), but I didn't want the hassle of having to get it changed between two servicings.
This is of help thanks Tibby and welcome back again good to see you posting

Chain: INR 855 (New make is Rolon. Earlier make was DID, & costed over INR 2k IIRC)
Yeah even my friend went to ask for the chain set, the Vendor told him since its the first lot of R15 i.e. 2008 model hence they would be putting DID. Can you tell me if there is any change?

@ All : My bike is back from the service center. Got a call from the svc manager yesterday evening that she's ready and I can take her home next morning, I wanted to to and take her yesterday evening itself but it was just about a half hour left till close so I didn't go. The night was very hard to get through.....kinda had the same feeling of excitement when I was gonna take her delivery.

I went to the svc at around 10:30, bike was ready......the feeling of contentment that I felt was inexplicable. Got some formalities done and also got the fourth service done. Put in motul 5100 semi synthetic for the second time, the old motul 5100 is not in that bad a shape even that it needed to be changed even after 2300 kms of moderately hard ripping, i changed it just because the service was due. Put the old oil in the motul can and it reached around 950 ml, hence the bike isn't consuming oil . Got the coolant topped up, 300 ml for 90 bucks.

As for the repairs charge, I incurred 6305 for parts and 400 for labour. Hence got her back to awesome shape with incurring 6700 bucks. I had to give 500 bucks extra for saving my old headlight assembly which was in good condition as only 1 socket which holds the assembly in place was broken. I had my trusted mechanic get that socket repaired too by a plastic weld. The svc manager recommended not changing the assembly as the damage was negligible but I wanted her to be as good as new so got it replaced altogether.

A big thanks to prakhar arya for taking almost all of his day off and coming to the service center for me. Friends like him are hard to find

                IMPORTANT
I was using the rx100 stand which I bought from yamaha SVC only for lubing my chain. When I was done lubing I took the center stand off and found out that it had bent . I did not expect the stand to bend as the weight difference between r15(130kg) and rx100(98kg) is just a mere 32kg. I've post some pics for reference.

I'm thinking about getting the stand straightened at a welder and an additional piece of iron rod affixed at both the legs to provide more strength.

                      • Need help on knowing the better service centres in Chennai. Bought the bike at Bikerz and have completed 3 services at their Nanganallur service centre. They suck !!

Have had a problem with a scraping noise from the front suspension since August - Have had the bike serviced twice after that and it still exists The fools dont even seem to know what the issue is and have told me that they have done this and done that and it shouldn't be a problem again.

Really need help on this !!

I don't think he HAS to use the costly one, just because the bike is from the initial lot. He can definitely ask for the new chainset (ROLON make).

                          • @tibby: I don't think its possible that Santa's chainset has not yet been replaced. It must be on the 1st position of the new chain!
He tours a lot&touring at higher speeds wears out the chain even faster. Last time after I rode from Hyd to Bangy at 120+ speeds constantly, the chain adjuster nut position had to be moved up from no.3-4. If 600kms.of ripping can do this, just imagine!
My bike has just crossed 20K kms.as you might be aware.
                            Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Also, the RVMs, are they foldable by design? In my case the hinge at the fairing end keeps getting loose if I fold the mirror a few times! Help!!!
