hey.....i got my R15 on monday....just 2 days back.....was facing a few problems in low speed/revs on my way back from showroom...was experiencing a jerk similar to the one we face when a bike is low on fuel. And yesterday when i was about to take it for a longer ride,it stopped after facing initial jerks. And theni cud not believe what was happening...it refused to start....i was shocked to see it happening on the 2nd day itself...i called up the yamaha workshop guys.....a mechanic came and he detected the problem within few seconds...he said there is a short circuit in the adapter...he replaced it immediately and thankfully my bike is running as per my expectations now...today is its 3rd day and i hope i dont face this problem in future....has anyone else faced a similar problem???What could have been the reason for it....the adapter that he has now used in my bike was taken out from a FZ....he says there wont be any problem since they are same....Can anyone clarify on it as well??R15 has been my dream bike since last year...but unfortunately the first 2 days were not great....

its alrite.. was just getting restless.... got the needed response from gaurav's tripOriginally posted by goatiguru29 View PostNobody is ignoring you freakzil give some time to reply you cant get immediate answers.
hey thats too much of planning before you get your hands on the baby. Its better to rip your bike once 1000kms is done. I took the bike to 3 digits only after 1.3k...refrain from redling the rpm(9.5) before 2nd service but you can surely take her upto 8krpm after 1st service. For first service change the oil, oilfilter, top up whatever things which are on level(coolant brake fluid etc)...Control your hunger or you may screw up the bike

Mods on the bike are not much, very nominal considering budget contraints and stuffs. Yet the built had to make good power. The cost of the entire mod job was lesser than what the Yamaha freeflow exhaust will alone cost, with power which is worth the 60k kitOriginally posted by Aparajith View PostFinally picked up my R15 from Mr. Joel yesterday. Now, the bike moves and sounds like how an R-Series Yam should.
The low - end till about 4K rpm is not so very different(I think there is though I cant feel it), but once past 4K it just shoots forward like a bullet. The power and torque curve are a lot linear and the power does not drop-off till 10K rpm. Bike continues to accelerate till cut - off. Just freakin' amazing!!!
The bike should really be a stonker on the MMSC track.....
I have not sampled a stock R15 for a really long time and could not make out a huge difference hence. The only other R15 I happened to test was Joel's which happened to be from another planet!
Our dear Joel though forgot to stuff the super free-flow exhaust with glass - wool and it sounds as loud as possible!!
I had no problems overtaking anyone on the highway on the return leg from Bangy to Chennai. Just whack the throttle in 6th gear at 4K - 5K rpm and it surges forward. I did not even have to down-shift on the ride [Its so very loud too
] . I had to hide from cops at Chennai at every signal though.
The air filter is very badly clogged and I have asked our in-house stocker Navnish for the same. Its also running an old 2K km old mineral oil due to which I gave up ripping(Actually it felt strained post 8.5K rpm). Have some work pending for this weekend - Need new air filter, need new spark plugs and also have to replace tires. And more important of all - chrome the exhaust and STUFF SOME GLASS WOOL IN IT!!!!
So here rises another souped-up R15!!!
Next step - the 165cc bore(which will have to wait another 6 months atleast!)

The works include a stage 1 camshaft, some mild tweeks to intake and fuelling and my custom tuned freeflow exhaust. This engine will be as fuel efficient as stock and reliability will be 100% equivalent to a stock engine. take it wherever you want and do whatever you can.sigpic

Been doing some investigating on how to improve the lighting on my bike. Was seriously thinking of the Osram NB, wanted to know if it can be fitted on both lamps ? If so, will it drain the battery too much ? Was initially planning on fitting one on the left side (low beam).
Another option which I stumbled upon yesterday is to connect the right side bulb so that it too comes on for low beam since its a 2 level bulb. Which means that instead of looking cock eyed with only one lamp on at low, the left and right bulbs will be on at both low and high. Has anyone tried this ? Is there any reason I shouldnt do this ?

@anshuman biswal: Congrats on the new ride- a choice you will not regret even though you have come down in terms of cc! This bike will redefine the biking experience you had till date&most probably turn you into a much better biker!
Btw, you don't need to stay below 40kmph for the 1st 1K kms., its not a Splendor. Please read the owners manual, it says avoid prolonged usage above 5K RPM for 1st 750kms.or so, then 7K...Do the math!

just a suggestion pal , please go in for philips x-treme power, they are better than the osram's,..i dont know how,but maybe the geometry of the philips allows the same intensity beam to be spread slightly more than the osram, and it does make a differenceOriginally posted by neil.jericho View PostBeen doing some investigating on how to improve the lighting on my bike.
