          • So how many of us here think the R15's price might come down looking at the present market scenario? :|

And what about the chennai xBHPians? Still no confirmed news about the perf kit or its cost?

The price will come down, but we'll have to make do with a carb unit instead of the FI on the bike for that..

On a more serious note, I remember reading something on it on an Orkut community way back in Sept last year.. A guy had done his internship at the Yamaha India factory, and had confirmed insider news that the prices would be slashed soon.. This was because Yamaha had started using more indigenous components on the R15, from when the bike was launched.. 9 months into that post, the prices are yet to be reduced..
Lets see if the new P220 can force Yamaha into slashing the price..

Also IMO, if Yamaha doesn't reduce the price of the R15, once the racing kit is launched, they might offer a new R15, bundled with the racing kit for a lesser price.. What I mean is, if the OTR of the bike is 1.1L & the racing kit is launched for say 25k, Yamaha might offer new R15 buyers, the bike with the racing kit at just 1.2L.. Its only my guess, & maybe it turns out to be a good business idea for Yamaha..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Regarding running-in, it is recommended to not exceed 4k RPM (60Kmph in 6th gear) till the 1st 1k Kms.. After the 1st service at 1k Kms, run the bike till max 5-7k (100Kmph).. After 2k Kms, begin ripping.. But remember, start opening up the bike slowly..
Regarding Orion, I guess no one here from B'lore would recommend them.. Have read enough s*&t about them on this thread..

Though kimikid has answered your questions, just penning down my relies as well:
                1. No fitting options available. In case you carry your laptop in the leather bag, I suggest, go for a laptop bag (backpack/rucksack type).
                2. The sound is normal. I too had this query a few days after I got my ride. My older bike also had it. Confirmed with SVC mechs, its nothing to worry about. Though the bike seems nicer without the sound, since its not a point to worry about, relax.
                3. Yeah. Even I had some issues with the false neutral. My earlier bike had an all down tranmission, so it took me some getting used to, to the R15's 1-down 5-up. Also I think you must be facing this issue when moving into N from 1st. If its happening too frequently, then I suggest you shift to 2nd from 1st, & then to N. It should slot into N perfectly then..
                4. During cold starts, my bike starts at 2k, then comes down to 1.5k (within a second or 2).. After the engine has warmed up, the idling is 1.2k..
                5. Yeah. There's only 1 way.. A few hundred more Kms on the bike..
                Cheers!

Can't be company fitted IMO. The stock front tyre has a groove in the centre, and thats for repelling water. Yamaha won't fit the rear tyres in front, for the simple reason that the bike will not have the front tyre with the central groove then, and that will make riding in wet conditions a nightmare..
So the dealer must have modified the tyres..

No problems bro! You owe me 1..!

@All: If its 24+ Bhp that the kit will offer, I won't be surprised if the entire kit costs upwards of 30-40k.. Remember, its a racing kit.. Not a chotu-motu performance upgrade..
Thanks tibby.. will have to confirm with the dealer soon... congrats.. you are rocking with this bike.. i will soon be getting it for me... will keep you updated...

Nepal is mostly the place where the premium bikes go hand on hand... almost 40% of the bike out here.. are premium bikes... they must have done for a reason... But i am sure that its a company fitted bike for export only.. coz we really give a damn to the mileage thing... but yahh will surely have to confirm it... and dude.. the bike is looking awesome... with these shoes...

You just have to name it.. but most of the bikes get imported from India... one can see lots of Zma... 200 and 220's of identity crusher bajaj.... R15 is like you blink.. you are almost sure to see one.... plus other bikes like Hyabusa... R1... GS600 ... but those higher end bikes are imported only when someone gives order... and do some cash down... I will soon be owning the R15 too... Just waiting that they just rectify all those flaws that were pointed in this thread... And trust me.. ond do have to complain about the SVC.. they are fabulous... not extraordinary

                        • 6th free service
i had given my bike to pacer yamaha for 6th service.
I had written a list of what to do and what not.

I needed my disc pads to be changed,
no need of oil change/chain lube and coolant top up.
needed tappet adjustment , way too high NVH from the bottom half of the engine.
too much vibes-worse than pulsie or apache.
                          air filter change.

i give enough time and then when i go to pick up , i see that the chain has not been washed , the disc pads not changed , no redn in vibrations.

and when i ask them about the vibrations , thats the best part
sir ur bike has run 15k , its old , so the sound will come ,
starts another bike , see sir this makes more noise and vibrations.
                          ur is very good.

I was so damn pissed that i took the bike and will no more go that side .

The yamaha service needs to improve big time.
Free service has no value at all.
u cannot think that ppl are dumb and will listen 2 whatever u gotta tell.
                          I felt that i better buy a 220.

Problem is with the clutch bell , and these guys cant figure that out or is that they wont do it in free service

                          • Santosh, surprised to see vibrations in your bike. KP also has been complaining the same for the past month.

The last time when I met you, you did not complain anything about the vibrations. How come they are all of a sudden?
