Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
First of all just how did you check if the fan is ok or not? Did you remove it, give it a 12V supply and check it? If yes, then lets look at the other possible things to be done. If no, then there is no basis for you to claim that the fan is ok.Originally posted by franklin ros View PostHi guys I own a r15 v2 I've clocked 35k for a past few days the radiator fan is not working I removed the fan and checked it it worked after I changed the coolant and fixed everything back but still the radiator fan is not turning on when the bike heats up and there is a drop in preformance when the bike heats up could some one help me with this problem
The other things that you need to check out are:
1. Check the thermostat (coolant temperature sensor). This will require you put the thermostat in vessel of hot water (over 80 degrees C). If the thermostat does not open then it is at fault.
2. Check the water pump. This will require you to remove the water pump and physically check the condition of the water pump.
3. Check the radiator for blockage.
If the above 3 are in proper working condition and assuming that the fan is also working, then you will need to open the head and check the water jackets on the head and cylinder.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Does the brake pad touch the disk even when riding at average speeds?Originally posted by franklin ros View PostGuys just now I changed ma back disc pad since I was hearing noise but after changing it got worse more noise Is comming from the back disc what might be the problem
If yes then you need to check the level of brake oil in the master cylinder. It should be filled till the max/upper mark or a bit below it.
I had faced this problem and neglected it resulting to worn brale pad and had to change the rear brake pad in 1 month.
Ride safe!

What To Do After Submerging Your Bike During a River Crossing - ADV PulseOriginally posted by Aravinth vishnu View PostHello Guys My Bike R15 v2.0 Black (2012) which is waterlogged due to chennai floods. I parked it in my portigo which is 3 feet from the ground but the water is flooded upto 5 feet. Now water is fully dried but water went through exhaust.Atleast it would take 20 days for the service centres to become opertaional and I don't have that much time..so i have decided to do it myself..can you guys pls help me with this..Thanks in Advance..
But do it at your own risk. If water has entered engine, do not start it unless you are 100% sure engine is dry.Last edited by Parvez Ghadialy; 12-17-2015, 01:29 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Thank you Parvez..I drained the water by removing a bolt in the exhaust pipe and I have drained as much as possible by fliping the bike in the slope and cranking it and then drained the engine oill too.Now i filled up a new oill and the Mechanic Advised me to change the oill couple of times more in coming weeks to make sure there is no dirt stayed inside the cylinder and same applicable to oil filter..Originally posted by Parvez Ghadialy View PostWhat To Do After Submerging Your Bike During a River Crossing - ADV Pulse

Yamaha R15 Engine Heating problem
Hi Xbhp members
my self karna here , am new to this group , i used to read reviews and forums and am obsessed with Xbhp now
I would like to thank in advance and coming to my problem on my bike
I owns an Yamaha R15 version1.0 red 2011 made
so far covered 32000km on my bike , mostly used for long drives only ,
On a single day i covered 800 to 1000km on my bike , not a single break down or not a engine heating issue
But now my bike is heating up a lot dont know why and whats the reason behind that
i serviced my bike and servicing includes Oil change , Oil filter , Air filter , Clutch Cable and Sparkplug
after servicing my bikes heating up a lot
if i ride my bike in the traffic for 5km even the warning light comes up and the fan is running always
so i had to pull over and then start again after 100meters again the warning light is blinking
Hence went to SVC and told the mechanic
SVC1: He just cleaned up the Airfilter and Checked coolant levels and said everything is fine
still issue not resolved warning light always comes up
the person charged money ( i thought reasonable price )
SVC2: the Head Mechanic who is an expert in FI taken the bike and did these
1. Fuel Injector Cleaning
2. FI check
3. Coolant flow is working or not
4. Checked the ECU and every thing is working fine a/c to ECU
5. Checked whether there are any other issues
6. he did few more things as i dont know
SVC center person Prasanth said that the problem is resolved
and he charged 700 bucks again
all of a sudden the SVC guy said there was some problem with the Throttle body and he advised me to change it , this one costs me around 4500
he said you can use it for time being
While coming back home again the same problem occured
Its heating up a lot more can't ride the bike for 10km even i can feel the heat on my leg although am wearing Riding shoes
Inside the Pannels lot of heat ( i can lit Matches )
Called up the SVC center he said every thing was working fine
Please help me out guys as I Love my Machine and this is the first time a facing like this kind of problem in my 4 years of journey
Fully Tired and Dont know what to do
As am Going for a drive in 2 days for another 1200km
Provide me a Solution so that i can Guide my mechanic too

Maybe you could get the radiator checked for blockages or maybe the fins are bent.
Also, is the engine oil grade correct and it's quantity proper? Are valve clearances for inlet and exhaust within the specified range?
I'd check these before investing on the throttle body.
One more thing, don't use your bike if its not repaired and tested over long distances.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

[QUOTE=Divya Sharan;1194781]Approved and merged
I did serviced my bike 200km back
thats where its all started
Radiator has been checked for blockages and its clear according to SVC
and the SVC person is saying that we should not do any repairs on radiator
and how to fix the radiator if the fins are bentLast edited by karuna; 12-22-2015, 11:24 PM.

Is the speedometer showing your speed?? If not then just change the speed sensor that would cost you max 800 rs. Even faced this issue so i know it.Originally posted by karuna View PostHi Xbhp members

Re: Yamaha R15 Engine Heating problem
How's the speedo sensor related to his query? His bike is overheating.Originally posted by kanyharsh View PostIs the speedometer showing your speed?? If not then just change the speed sensor that would cost you max 800 rs. Even faced this issue so i know it.
OP - Please use a medium bristle toothbrush and run it gently through the radiator, thereby straightening its fins.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 12-22-2015, 04:08 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Yamaha R15 Engine Heating problem
One more possibility can be failure of coolant pump or whatever pump that is required for this purpose.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostHow's the speedo sensor related to his query? His bike is overheating.
OP - Please use a medium bristle toothbrush and run it gently through the radiator, thereby straightening its fins.
If it fails it will show up as warning and cause damage. Pumps are susceptible to damage under certain conditions.
You are correct regarding valve clearance and radiator fins. But R15 barely needs any valve clearance or in worst case it wont give out so much heat that OP states he can lit matches.
Thermostat failure can also trigger similar issues. So elude symptoms one by one before going to TB , which has not relation to overheating at all.
