Depends...How is the engine idling? Is the idling steady? Or does it keep changing? How's the bike starting during cold mornings? How's it idling once started during cold mornings? Does it keep turning off and require you to keep revving to keep it alive?Originally posted by souvikb83 View PostSunny.

@All: One good news. I went to the local keymaker&he had a blank R15 key with him! I was surprised too, but didn't wanna let go of the rare piece, so lapped it up-paid him Rs.60&Voila! I have a duplicate of my existing key, with the same shape, Yamaha logo et.all!
Anyways, I need you guys to check the lock in the petrol tank. Please observe whether the right side has a small depression in it. I was thinking mine is meddled around with, but the keymaker says that the basic shape is such. I'm kinda wondering now, so need your help guys. If anyone can attach a pic also it will be really helpful to compare with mine. I would have attached a pic of mine, but unfortunately HydBiker is unavailable for resizing the pics! So please have a good look at your petrol tank locks&revert.

The dent in there is to help glide the key right into the hole, like a slope to allow the key tip to slide down into the hole. And you don't need Kp for resizing, you can attach the image within a post and post the same attachment in the post. The pic automatically gets resized into a thumbnail size

Thanks Sunny. I know it automatically gets resized, but today afternoon when I tried it didn't. Anyways, the dent is only on the right side, right?Originally posted by digislayer View PostThat's how the lock entrance is!

Thanks guys! Will start opening up the bike gradually..Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@tibby: I ran in my bike below 60 for the 1st 1000kms. Gear shifts were at 3.5K-4K RPM. @Sarvajit: Nice to hear that you got a key that looks like the original one.. You were initially concerned about the finish of the locally made duplicate keys, so I'm guessing you found a finish to your liking..
BTW, you had mentioned in 1 of your posts a few days back, that Yamaha had dispatched you spare keys from Delhi na.. What happened to that..?
@All: Just received an invitation by courier from my Yamaha Dealer today. Its regarding the R15 Championship to be conducted in Chennai, on 28-June.Last edited by tibby; 06-19-2009, 12:59 AM.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Yeah, I was lucky to find a key head with the Yamaha logo in R15 shape. It is as good as the original. Donno whether it was a flicked one!Originally posted by tibby View Post@Sarvajit: Nice to hear that you got a key that looks like the original one.. Yes, my spare key is coming from the company too-having more no.of keys is never a harm, I need to carry a spare one with me during touring anyways. I will still have one left at home that way.
But could you please check the dent in your petrol tank lock&confirm?
I also received a call from my Yamaha dealer regarding the racing event. I'm out of town-gonna be in Pune then, so told them that. I will surely participate someday, just to see how the track feels.
@All: Here is something that happened this morning. This goes to show how people underestimate the R15 thinking it just another 150cc bike&what happens when they find out it is not!
I was ripping my way to office as usual due to the extra strict timings&one red Pulsar 150 DTSI UG3 happened to pick on me thinking I was in for a race. I didn't bother about it initially, but when we reached KBR Road, a stretch of almost a km. (Hyd guys you must be knowing very well
), I downshifted thrice&ripped off. By the middle of the stretch, I was crouching&well past 120...he was nowhere in sight. When I reached the signal, Jubilee Hills Check Post, he came after about 4-5 secs.&he was so overwhelmed by the power of the R15-he showed me the thumbs up sign&later got into a conversation with me as we were from the same work domain. Hehehehee! R15 Rocks!

Yes; you cannot really compare it with other 150cc. It is not fair. Better start comparing with the 180s or 200s or more. Yes, R15 sure rocks!Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@All: Here is something that happened this morning. Try doing it with a zma someday. You will go neck to neck till the 5th gear. You shift to 6th & the other rider disappears.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostYeah, I was lucky to find a key head with the Yamaha logo in R15 shape. It is as good as the original. @mod: No offence meant to zma owners & no comparison intended. It happens to be just another bike that I got into race with.And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

A strange problem
Hi!
I'm facing a situation here. One of my friends was trying to ride my R15. Whenever she was doing above 60-70kmph, she complained that she had trouble turning the handle. Now, I've never faced that issue before, so I am unable to comment upon it. Does anybody has any idea what might be happening?
I felt that the reason might be that she is not leaning on the turns, so bike is acting stiff. She has no idea how to lean. So, if this is the cause, can anybody supply me with tips about 'how to lean for beginners'? I searched on the net, but everybody just tells you to lean. Nobody is explaining how. I've not been able to put it in words either.
Thanks!And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

Yes, people who ride bikes with single piece handles have this problem, especially when taking a U-turn. My friend also faced the same problem when taking a tight U-turn on my bike. He has a P-180 UG3. But the same guy could handle it easily when he was at a better speed&was leaning a bit.Originally posted by Adway View PostHi!

R15's handle takes a bit getting used to, but once you are used to it, nothing else will do.
@All: Has anyone checked their petrol tank locks&discovered the dent on the right side? I'm still waiting for some answers&pics too if possible.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

anyway the wax says it is not recommended for use on "metalized plastic" .. the 1 5 is all "metalized plastic" IMO .. so is anyone using Formula 1 wax on this.

After sometime the petrol pump guys brought some 2T Oil&poured it into the lock. It opened. My gf&I were wondering how a new bike's lock could get spoilt so easily. Later we discovered that the right side of the keyhole covering was bent towards the inside, hence the tightness. Luckily the metal flap is working fine, so I will try to get the cover straightened.
This happens just by trying some other keys, or exerting extra force while using the locks. Please be careful with them, they are delicate.The keyhole is bent on the right side.. Pls see attached pics, and don't you worry about it..!Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostBut could you please check the dent in your petrol tank lock&confirm?
My guess is, the lock would have refused to open coz maybe some dust particles had entered it or something.. Just a one-off case.. Don't worry..
Hmmm.. Me too not going this time.. Wanna get a super-hang of the bike on ublic roads, before i can start belting it on track..Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostI also received a call from my Yamaha dealer regarding the racing event. BTW, yet to fully explore the potential of the bike.. So thats another reason to skip this racing championship..
Hmmm.. I doubt it would have been a flicked one.. They generally have ditto keys of all auto brands.. But, you never know..Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostYeah, I was lucky to find a key head with the Yamaha logo in R15 shape. It is as good as the original. Donno whether it was a flicked one!
Hehe.. Nice incident.. He must be in awe of the R15 now..Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@All: Here is something that happened this morning. This goes to show how people underestimate the R15 thinking it just another 150cc bike&what happens when they find out it is not!
