But the amount of slack on your chain appears to be more. Better get it tight from the SC guys. Its 5min work.

The chain does rest slightly on the small rubber padding on the swingarm near the front sprocket. That isnt a worry.Originally posted by neil.jericho View Post

Gear Box Problem??
Hi guys!
My R15 has done about a 16K kms. I have this problem of a kind of sound coming from the gear lever or the gear box. The thing that connects the gear lever to the engine (the thin rod....sorry for my ignorance, i dont know what it is called) seems to be a little loose to be.
When I shift gears on low RPM i get this sound from the gear lever or something. Is this due to the looseness of the gear lever and the rod?? Does anyone had the same issue?? what should i do about it???
Or do i need to get the gear box checked up?
Thanks a lot dudes...
I know i m pretty ignorant...

Accident...
Guys..
I met with an accident yesterday..It was like...I was coming at around 70kmph...an omni came in from the left side of the road...I couldnt do anything other than slamming the brakes hard...I applied both the brakes...But it happened to be a stoppie...the bike overturned over my head and fell on to its left side...Surprisingly..I escaped with just a scratch on my palm...but bike now looks completely different...
Left headlight is no more there..
Side fairing broken..
Back side left fairing cracked..
As I didnt collide with the van..will filing a case be of any use??
I took it to the service centre..they told that I can claim the comprehensive insurance..but they told that I wont get the whole amount only 60% of the amount will be given.
They told that the front fork has bent..But nothing serious happened...
They told me that to replace the parts, the cost would come around Rs5000 .
Is that right...???
I actually dont care..Becoz..I'm very happy that I'm still alive..I still cant believe what has happened..this was the first time that I met with an accident, but was not my fault...
ANyway what should I do...and one more thing...will I get my bike back in the same old condition...???

R15 tyres
Guys, there seems to a shortage of R15 tyres due to the ongoing MRF strike. I am not able to get hold of one(rear tyre) in Bangalore.
If anyone is able to find new R15 rear tyres in Bangalore or Chennai, please let me know."Never make the mistake of thinking someone is holding you up;that's racing, and you're holding yourself up." - Keith

Pardon me if I sound silly (yet again), but your last statement almost suggests there is a feedback mechanism... Like bike can acess it own performance & make adjustments to itself.Originally posted by vibhanshu View PostI am not visiting Pearl in near sometime. It is located in Gachibowli.

Sarvajit is going this Friday. You can join him.
@souvikb83: Gice some time to your bike to settle down with the changes. It takes a lot of time for R15 to adjust itself.
Can you please explain about that statement? It will help me know a bit more about the technology.
Thanks!Last edited by Adway; 06-11-2009, 12:50 PM.And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

Yes I had this issue at 6K. The thin lever sorta thing that connects gear lever to somewhere inside. That became loose. 10 mins job for the SS guy to put one more washer and tighten it a little (not very much). Shifting is great again! Nothing to worry about but it needs attention.Originally posted by vicks_8591 View PostHi guys!

I am saying this with 7000Kms of experience on R15. Everytime I get something adjusted or changed, the real effect does not comes the same time. Of course you feel the difference but after a usage of few days you can feel the difference in each ride.
Tappets. When it was adjusted, it seemed as there is no difference. But after a usage of few days and some ripping the engine became calm and it was fine. Some days the vibes are more sometimes less. Its just like that. Do not make assumption on just a couple of rides. I always take time to see whether its a real problem or just a bad bike day.
Same with forks: I had got it opened 2 times. Initially it felt weird and even loose. But after few days it got 'set' properly. Even Sarvajit took a ride on bike and could feel the difference in few days.
@vinoddt1: You can claim the insurance easily. For plastics and electrical parts, 50% is covered.Fear is the Trigger!

Thanx a lot vibhanshu!! I would take to the SS guy tomorrow itself and get it sorted out.How much did they charge for it?? Did u also used to get some sound when shifting the gears (like a tic tic tic ....)or was it that only your lever went loose??was it affecting your bikes performance??

Why performance loss. Just that it was loose and use to make sound at jerks. Only lever was loose. Thats all.Originally posted by vicks_8591 View PostThanx a lot vibhanshu!! I hope my issue gets resolved as well by tightening the lever....Originally posted by vibhanshu View PostWhy performance loss. Just that it was loose and use to make sound at jerks. Only lever was loose. Thats all.

I get the sound while accelerating as well ...though at times only...not always...

After satyenpoojari, I heard your case who fell down to a stoppie by accident.
You must have pulled money from the Van guy with out going legally (you can claim insurance too), It again headache with isurance guyz.
Side fairing: with inner and out panles is around 800 bucks.
Headlight assembly is around 2000
but not sure about rear side thing you asked. Fork alignment must not be more than 500 I think.
But 5000, I dont understand, May be its the amount mentioned to insurance guys so that you would get more money for your claim. This usually happens. But if showroom is claiming you 5000, Then check the prices again about each part.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

1) Never Slam your brakes... Pump them instead,
2) Make a habit of using front and rear in a fast combo, never together...
Ride safe...
~says the guy who crashed of a stoppie as well!
BTW The damage should not be as high as 5k!
Left headlight - The assembly is about 2k
Side fairing broken.. is about 700rs
Back side left fairing cracked..is 480RsSuper CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

for the info..I've now decided not to change the headlights and the left side out panels..I plan to keep those as reminders,to help me ride carefully...And I'm not going to claim the insurance...dont want to loose the no claim bonus for next year..so I guess my bill will come below 2500..if things go according to my plan..lets see...
Have to say..I went out yesterday night walking..I got scared when I saw cars..this has never happened to me before..hope time will heal this...

1st Service due
Hey guys!
My bike is due for 1st service tomo..
AFAIK, the main things to be done would be:
- replacing oil filter
- replacing engine oil
Is there anything else that I'm missing out on?
Plus, the engine oil that should be used is mineral oil, right?
Is there any specific (brand or rating) mineral oil that is recommended or the SVC guys can be banked upon to do the right thing?
Thanks in advance!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
